New Living Translation

New King James Version

  • For the choir director: A love song to be sung to the tune “Lilies.” A psalma of the descendants of Korah.

    Beautiful words stir my heart.
    I will recite a lovely poem about the king,
    for my tongue is like the pen of a skillful poet.
  • The Glories of the Messiah and His Bride

    To the Chief Musician. Set to [a]“The Lilies.” A [b]Contemplation of the sons of Korah. A Song of Love.

    My heart is overflowing with a good theme;
    I recite my composition concerning the King;
    My tongue is the pen of a [c]ready writer.
  • You are the most handsome of all.
    Gracious words stream from your lips.
    God himself has blessed you forever.
  • You are fairer than the sons of men;
    Grace is poured upon Your lips;
    Therefore God has blessed You forever.
  • Put on your sword, O mighty warrior!
    You are so glorious, so majestic!
  • [d]Gird Your sword upon Your thigh, O Mighty One,
    With Your glory and Your majesty.
  • In your majesty, ride out to victory,
    defending truth, humility, and justice.
    Go forth to perform awe-inspiring deeds!
  • And in Your majesty ride prosperously because of truth, humility, and righteousness;
    And Your right hand shall teach You awesome things.
  • Your arrows are sharp, piercing your enemies’ hearts.
    The nations fall beneath your feet.
  • Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the King’s enemies;
    The peoples fall under You.
  • Your throne, O God,b endures forever and ever.
    You rule with a scepter of justice.
  • Your throne, O God, is forever and ever;
    A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.
  • You love justice and hate evil.
    Therefore God, your God, has anointed you,
    pouring out the oil of joy on you more than on anyone else.
  • You love righteousness and hate wickedness;
    Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You
    With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.
  • Myrrh, aloes, and cassia perfume your robes.
    In ivory palaces the music of strings entertains you.
  • All Your garments are scented with myrrh and aloes and cassia,
    Out of the ivory palaces, by which they have made You glad.
  • Kings’ daughters are among your noble women.
    At your right side stands the queen,
    wearing jewelry of finest gold from Ophir!
  • Kings’ daughters are among Your honorable women;
    At Your right hand stands the queen in gold from Ophir.
  • Listen to me, O royal daughter; take to heart what I say.
    Forget your people and your family far away.
  • Listen, O daughter,
    Consider and incline your ear;
    Forget your own people also, and your father’s house;
  • For your royal husband delights in your beauty;
    honor him, for he is your lord.
  • So the King will greatly desire your beauty;
    Because He is your Lord, worship Him.
  • The princess of Tyrec will shower you with gifts.
    The wealthy will beg your favor.
  • And the daughter of Tyre will come with a gift;
    The rich among the people will seek your favor.
  • The bride, a princess, looks glorious
    in her golden gown.
  • The royal daughter is all glorious within the palace;
    Her clothing is woven with gold.
  • In her beautiful robes, she is led to the king,
    accompanied by her bridesmaids.
  • She shall be brought to the King in robes of many colors;
    The virgins, her companions who follow her, shall be brought to You.
  • What a joyful and enthusiastic procession
    as they enter the king’s palace!
  • With gladness and rejoicing they shall be brought;
    They shall enter the King’s palace.
  • Your sons will become kings like their father.
    You will make them rulers over many lands.
  • Instead of Your fathers shall be Your sons,
    Whom You shall make princes in all the earth.
  • I will bring honor to your name in every generation.
    Therefore, the nations will praise you forever and ever.
  • I will make Your name to be remembered in all generations;
    Therefore the people shall praise You forever and ever.
