Please listen, O Shepherd of Israel,
you who lead Joseph’s descendants like a flock.
O God, enthroned above the cherubim,
display your radiant glory

to Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh.
Show us your mighty power.
Come to rescue us!

О Пастирю Ізраїля, прихили вухо Ти, що ведеш Йосифа, як отару, ти, що на херувимах возсідаєш, як у сяйві!

Turn us again to yourself, O God.
Make your face shine down upon us.
Only then will we be saved.

Перед Ефраїмом і Веніямином і Манассією збуди твою потугу й прийди нам на спасіння.

O LORD God of Heaven’s Armies,
how long will you be angry with our prayers?

О Боже, віднови нас, засяй твоїм обличчям, і спасемося.

You have fed us with sorrow
and made us drink tears by the bucketful.

Господи Боже Сил, докіль палатимеш гнівом, не зважаючи на мольби твого народу?

You have made us the scorna of neighboring nations.
Our enemies treat us as a joke.

Ти годував їх хлібом із сльозами, і поїв їх слізьми щедро.

Turn us again to yourself, O God of Heaven’s Armies.
Make your face shine down upon us.
Only then will we be saved.

Ти видав нас на наругу сусідам нашим, і вороги наші залюбки з нас глузують.

8

You brought us from Egypt like a grapevine;
you drove away the pagan nations and transplanted us into your land.

О Боже сил, обнови нас, засяй твоїм обличчям, і ми спасемося.

9

You cleared the ground for us,
and we took root and filled the land.

Вирвав єси з Єгипту лозу виноградну, прогнав народи, щоб її насадити;

Our shade covered the mountains;
our branches covered the mighty cedars.

приготував ти для неї місце, вона пустила корінь і заповнила землю.

We spread our branches west to the Mediterranean Sea;
our shoots spread east to the Euphrates River.b

Гори вкрились її тінню, віттям її — кедри високі.

But now, why have you broken down our walls
so that all who pass by may steal our fruit?

The wild boar from the forest devours it,
and the wild animals feed on it.

Come back, we beg you, O God of Heaven’s Armies.
Look down from heaven and see our plight.
Take care of this grapevine

пустошить її вепр із лісу, і дикий звір на ній випасається?

that you yourself have planted,
this son you have raised for yourself.

О Боже сил, повернись бо! Споглянь із неба й подивися; навідайсь до лози цієї,

16

For we are chopped up and burned by our enemies.
May they perish at the sight of your frown.

до пагінця, що твоя правиця посадила, до парости, що укріпив єси для себе.

17

Strengthen the man you love,
the son of your choice.

Ті, що вогнем її спалили, стяли, нехай погинуть від погрози обличчя твого.

18

Then we will never abandon you again.
Revive us so we can call on your name once more.

Нехай твоя рука буде на чоловікові твоєї правиці, на сині людськім, що його укріпив єси для себе.

19

Turn us again to yourself, O LORD God of Heaven’s Armies.
Make your face shine down upon us.
Only then will we be saved.

Ми не відступимо від тебе; живи нас, і ми визнаватимемо твоє ім'я.
