  • Psalm 85a

    For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. A psalm.

    You, Lord, showed favor to your land;
    you restored the fortunes of Jacob.
  • You forgave the guilt of your people —
    yes, you covered all their sins.
    Interlude
  • You forgave the iniquity of your people
    and covered all their sins.b
  • You held back your fury.
    You kept back your blazing anger.
  • You set aside all your wrath
    and turned from your fierce anger.
  • Now restore us again, O God of our salvation.
    Put aside your anger against us once more.
  • Restore us again, God our Savior,
    and put away your displeasure toward us.
  • Will you be angry with us always?
    Will you prolong your wrath to all generations?
  • Will you be angry with us forever?
    Will you prolong your anger through all generations?
  • Won’t you revive us again,
    so your people can rejoice in you?
  • Will you not revive us again,
    that your people may rejoice in you?
  • Show us your unfailing love, O LORD,
    and grant us your salvation.
  • Show us your unfailing love, Lord,
    and grant us your salvation.
  • I listen carefully to what God the LORD is saying,
    for he speaks peace to his faithful people.
    But let them not return to their foolish ways.
  • I will listen to what God the Lord says;
    he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants —
    but let them not turn to folly.
  • Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him,
    so our land will be filled with his glory.
  • Surely his salvation is near those who fear him,
    that his glory may dwell in our land.
  • Unfailing love and truth have met together.
    Righteousness and peace have kissed!
  • Love and faithfulness meet together;
    righteousness and peace kiss each other.
  • Truth springs up from the earth,
    and righteousness smiles down from heaven.
  • Faithfulness springs forth from the earth,
    and righteousness looks down from heaven.
  • Yes, the LORD pours down his blessings.
    Our land will yield its bountiful harvest.
  • The Lord will indeed give what is good,
    and our land will yield its harvest.
  • Righteousness goes as a herald before him,
    preparing the way for his steps.
  • Righteousness goes before him
    and prepares the way for his steps.
