Darby Bible Translation

  • Instructions for the Sabbath

    Then Moses called together the whole community of Israel and told them, “These are the instructions the LORD has commanded you to follow.
  • The Sabbath

    And Moses collected all the assembly of the children of Israel, and said to them, These are the things which Jehovah has commanded, to do them.
  • You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day must be a Sabbath day of complete rest, a holy day dedicated to the LORD. Anyone who works on that day must be put to death.
  • Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you a holy day, a sabbath of rest to Jehovah: whoever does work on it shall be put to death.
  • You must not even light a fire in any of your homes on the Sabbath.”
  • Ye shall kindle no fire throughout your dwellings upon the sabbath day.

  • Offerings for the Tabernacle

    Then Moses said to the whole community of Israel, “This is what the LORD has commanded:
  • Materials for the Tabernacle

    And Moses spoke to all the assembly of the children of Israel, saying, This is the word which Jehovah has commanded, saying,
  • Take a sacred offering for the LORD. Let those with generous hearts present the following gifts to the LORD:
    gold, silver, and bronze;
  • Take from among you a heave-offering to Jehovah: every one whose heart [is] willing, let him bring it, Jehovah's heave-offering -- gold, and silver, and copper,
  • blue, purple, and scarlet thread;
    fine linen and goat hair for cloth;
  • and blue, and purple, and scarlet, and byssus, and goats' [hair],
  • tanned ram skins and fine goatskin leather;
    acacia wood;
  • and rams' skins dyed red, and badgers' skins, and acacia-wood,
  • olive oil for the lamps;
    spices for the anointing oil and the fragrant incense;
  • and oil for the light, and spices for the anointing oil, and for the incense of fragrant drugs;
  • onyx stones, and other gemstones to be set in the ephod and the priest’s chestpiece.
  • and onyx stones, and stones to be set for the ephod, and for the breastplate.
  • “Come, all of you who are gifted craftsmen. Construct everything that the LORD has commanded:
  • The Skilled Tabernacle Workmen

    And all who are wise-hearted among you shall come and make all that Jehovah has commanded:
  • the Tabernacle and its sacred tent, its covering, clasps, frames, crossbars, posts, and bases;
  • the tabernacle, its tent, and its covering, its clasps, and its boards, its bars, its pillars, and its bases;
  • the Ark and its carrying poles;
    the Ark’s cover — the place of atonement;
    the inner curtain to shield the Ark;
  • the ark, and its staves; the mercy-seat, and the veil of separation;
  • the table, its carrying poles, and all its utensils;
    the Bread of the Presence;
  • the table and its staves, and all its utensils, and the shewbread;
  • for light, the lampstand, its accessories, the lamp cups, and the olive oil for lighting;
  • and the lamp-stand for the light, and its utensils, and its lamps, and the oil for the light;
  • the incense altar and its carrying poles;
    the anointing oil and fragrant incense;
    the curtain for the entrance of the Tabernacle;
  • and the altar of incense, and its staves; and the anointing-oil, and the incense of fragrant drugs; and the entrance-curtain at the entrance of the tabernacle;
  • the altar of burnt offering;
    the bronze grating of the altar and its carrying poles and utensils;
    the washbasin with its stand;
  • the altar of burnt-offering, and the copper grating for it, its staves, and all its utensils; the laver and its stand;
  • the curtains for the walls of the courtyard;
    the posts and their bases;
    the curtain for the entrance to the courtyard;
  • the hangings of the court, its pillars, and its bases, and the curtains of the gate of the court;
  • the tent pegs of the Tabernacle and courtyard and their ropes;
  • the pegs of the tabernacle, and the pegs of the court, and their cords;
  • the beautifully stitched garments for the priests to wear while ministering in the Holy Place — the sacred garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments for his sons to wear as they minister as priests.”
  • the garments of service, to do service in the sanctuary, the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, to serve as priests.
  • So the whole community of Israel left Moses and returned to their tents.
  • The People Offer Gifts

    And all the assembly of the children of Israel departed from before Moses.
  • All whose hearts were stirred and whose spirits were moved came and brought their sacred offerings to the LORD. They brought all the materials needed for the Tabernacle,a for the performance of its rituals, and for the sacred garments.
  • And they came, every one whose heart moved him, and every one whose spirit prompted him; they brought Jehovah's heave-offering for the work of the tent of meeting, and for all its service, and for the holy garments.
  • Both men and women came, all whose hearts were willing. They brought to the LORD their offerings of gold — brooches, earrings, rings from their fingers, and necklaces. They presented gold objects of every kind as a special offering to the LORD.
  • And they came, both men and women; every one who was of willing heart brought nose-rings, and earrings, and rings, and bracelets, all kinds of utensils of gold: every man that waved a wave-offering of gold to Jehovah.
  • All those who owned the following items willingly brought them: blue, purple, and scarlet thread; fine linen and goat hair for cloth; and tanned ram skins and fine goatskin leather.
  • And every man with whom was found blue, and purple, and scarlet, and byssus, and goats' [hair], and rams' skins dyed red, and badgers' skins, brought [them].
  • And all who had silver and bronze objects gave them as a sacred offering to the LORD. And those who had acacia wood brought it for use in the project.
  • All they that offered a heave-offering of silver and copper brought Jehovah's heave-offering. And every one with whom was found acacia-wood for all manner of work of the service, brought [it].
  • All the women who were skilled in sewing and spinning prepared blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine linen cloth.
  • And every woman that was wise-hearted spun with her hands, and brought what she had spun: the blue, and the purple, and the scarlet, and the byssus.
  • All the women who were willing used their skills to spin the goat hair into yarn.
  • And all the women whose heart moved them in wisdom spun goats' [hair].
  • The leaders brought onyx stones and the special gemstones to be set in the ephod and the priest’s chestpiece.
  • And the principal men brought the onyx stones, and the stones to be set, for the ephod, and for the breastplate;
  • They also brought spices and olive oil for the light, the anointing oil, and the fragrant incense.
  • and the spice, and the oil for the light, and for the anointing oil, and for the incense of fragrant drugs.
  • So the people of Israel — every man and woman who was eager to help in the work the LORD had given them through Moses — brought their gifts and gave them freely to the LORD.
  • The children of Israel brought a voluntary offering to Jehovah, every man and woman whose heart prompted them to bring for all manner of work, which Jehovah, by the hand of Moses, had commanded to be done.
  • Then Moses told the people of Israel, “The LORD has specifically chosen Bezalel son of Uri, grandson of Hur, of the tribe of Judah.
  • Bezelel and Oholiab

    And Moses said to the children of Israel, See, Jehovah has called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah,
  • The LORD has filled Bezalel with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts.
  • and he has filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,
  • He is a master craftsman, expert in working with gold, silver, and bronze.
  • and to devise artistic things: to work in gold, and in silver, and in copper,
  • He is skilled in engraving and mounting gemstones and in carving wood. He is a master at every craft.
  • and in cutting of stones, for setting, and in carving of wood, to execute all artistic work;
  • And the LORD has given both him and Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, the ability to teach their skills to others.
  • and he has put in his heart to teach, he and Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan:
  • The LORD has given them special skills as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple, and scarlet thread on fine linen cloth, and weavers. They excel as craftsmen and as designers.
  • he has filled them with wisdom of heart, to work all manner of work of the engraver, and of the artificer, and of the embroiderer, in blue, and in purple, in scarlet, and in byssus, and of the weaver, [even] of them that do every kind of work, and of those that devise artistic work
