  • Praise for Judgment and Salvation

    O LORD, I will honor and praise your name,
    for you are my God.
    You do such wonderful things!
    You planned them long ago,
    and now you have accomplished them.
  • Song of Praise for God’s Favor

    O LORD, You are my God;
    I will exalt You, I will give thanks to Your name;
    For You have worked wonders,
    Plans formed long ago, with perfect faithfulness.
  • You turn mighty cities into heaps of ruins.
    Cities with strong walls are turned to rubble.
    Beautiful palaces in distant lands disappear
    and will never be rebuilt.
  • For You have made a city into a heap,
    A fortified city into a ruin;
    A palace of strangers is a city no more,
    It will never be rebuilt.
  • Therefore, strong nations will declare your glory;
    ruthless nations will fear you.
  • Therefore a strong people will glorify You;
    Cities of ruthless nations will revere You.
  • But you are a tower of refuge to the poor, O LORD,
    a tower of refuge to the needy in distress.
    You are a refuge from the storm
    and a shelter from the heat.
    For the oppressive acts of ruthless people
    are like a storm beating against a wall,
  • For You have been a defense for the helpless,
    A defense for the needy in his distress,
    A refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat;
    For the breath of the ruthless
    Is like a rain storm against a wall.
  • or like the relentless heat of the desert.
    But you silence the roar of foreign nations.
    As the shade of a cloud cools relentless heat,
    so the boastful songs of ruthless people are stilled.
  • Like heat in drought, You subdue the uproar of aliens;
    Like heat by the shadow of a cloud, the song of the ruthless is silenced.
  • In Jerusalem,a the LORD of Heaven’s Armies
    will spread a wonderful feast
    for all the people of the world.
    It will be a delicious banquet
    with clear, well-aged wine and choice meat.
  • The LORD of hosts will prepare a lavish banquet for all peoples on this mountain;
    A banquet of aged wine, choice pieces with marrow,
    And refined, aged wine.
  • There he will remove the cloud of gloom,
    the shadow of death that hangs over the earth.
  • And on this mountain He will swallow up the covering which is over all peoples,
    Even the veil which is stretched over all nations.
  • He will swallow up death forever!
    The Sovereign LORD will wipe away all tears.
    He will remove forever all insults and mockery
    against his land and people.
    The LORD has spoken!
  • He will swallow up death for all time,
    And the Lord GOD will wipe tears away from all faces,
    And He will remove the reproach of His people from all the earth;
    For the LORD has spoken.
  • In that day the people will proclaim,
    “This is our God!
    We trusted in him, and he saved us!
    This is the LORD, in whom we trusted.
    Let us rejoice in the salvation he brings!”
  • And it will be said in that day,
    “Behold, this is our God for whom we have waited that He might save us.
    This is the LORD for whom we have waited;
    Let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation.”
  • For the LORD’s hand of blessing will rest on Jerusalem.
    But Moab will be crushed.
    It will be like straw trampled down and left to rot.
  • For the hand of the LORD will rest on this mountain,
    And Moab will be trodden down in his place
    As straw is trodden down in the water of a manure pile.
  • God will push down Moab’s people
    as a swimmer pushes down water with his hands.
    He will end their pride
    and all their evil works.
  • And he will spread out his hands in the middle of it
    As a swimmer spreads out his hands to swim,
    But the Lord will lay low his pride together with the trickery of his hands.
  • The high walls of Moab will be demolished.
    They will be brought down to the ground,
    down into the dust.
  • The unassailable fortifications of your walls He will bring down,
    Lay low and cast to the ground, even to the dust.
