Jeremiah’s Shattered Jar

This is what the LORD said to me: “Go and buy a clay jar. Then ask some of the leaders of the people and of the priests to follow you.

Господь мне сказал: "Иеремия, пойди и купи глиняный кувшин у гончара.

2

Go out through the Gate of Broken Pots to the garbage dump in the valley of Ben-Hinnom, and give them this message.

Пойди в долину Еннома, у ворот Харшиф, возьми с собою старейшин со священниками и скажи им то, что Я тебе скажу.

Say to them, ‘Listen to this message from the LORD, you kings of Judah and citizens of Jerusalem! This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says: I will bring a terrible disaster on this place, and the ears of those who hear about it will ring!

Скажи людям, которые будут с тобою: "Царь Иудеи и народ Иерусалима, слушайте весть Господню! Вот что говорит Господь Всемогущий, Бог Израиля: с этой землёй скоро случится ужасное, каждый, кто об этом услышит, исполнится страха и удивления.

“‘For Israel has forsaken me and turned this valley into a place of wickedness. The people burn incense to foreign gods — idols never before acknowledged by this generation, by their ancestors, or by the kings of Judah. And they have filled this place with the blood of innocent children.

Я это сделаю потому, что народ Иудеи перестал следовать Мне, отдал это место чужим богам, люди Иудеи сжигали здесь жертвы другим богам, которым не поклонялись ни они, ни их предки — это иные боги из чужих стран. Цари Иудеи заполнили это место кровью невинных младенцев.

They have built pagan shrines to Baal, and there they burn their sons as sacrifices to Baal. I have never commanded such a horrible deed; it never even crossed my mind to command such a thing!

Цари Иудеи построили высокие постаменты Ваалу, на которых сжигали своих сыновей, как жертвы всесожжения Ваалу. Я не велел им этого делать, Я не просил их приносить в жертву сыновей, Я никогда ни о чём подобном не помышлял.

So beware, for the time is coming, says the LORD, when this garbage dump will no longer be called Topheth or the valley of Ben-Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter.

Ныне это место в долине Еннома люди зовут Тофетом, но Я тебя предупреждаю, что наступят дни, когда люди назовут это место долиною Убиения.

“‘For I will upset the careful plans of Judah and Jerusalem. I will allow the people to be slaughtered by invading armies, and I will leave their dead bodies as food for the vultures and wild animals.

Я разрушу в этом месте планы народов Иудеи и Иерусалима, враг их будет преследовать, Я сражу их мечами врагов, и трупы их станут пищей птиц и зверей.

I will reduce Jerusalem to ruins, making it a monument to their stupidity. All who pass by will be astonished and will gasp at the destruction they see there.

Я полностью разрушу этот город. Те, кто будет идти мимо, будут качать головами и посвистывать, когда увидят, как разрушен город.

I will see to it that your enemies lay siege to the city until all the food is gone. Then those trapped inside will eat their own sons and daughters and friends. They will be driven to utter despair.’

Армия врага окружит его, и не даст им выйти на поиски пищи, и в городе начнётся голод. Люди будут так голодать, что сначала будут есть тела своих сыновей и дочерей, а потом станут есть и друг друга.

“As these men watch you, Jeremiah, smash the jar you brought.

Иеремия, скажи это людям и разбей у них на глазах кувшин.

Then say to them, ‘This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies says: As this jar lies shattered, so I will shatter the people of Judah and Jerusalem beyond all hope of repair. They will bury the bodies here in Topheth, the garbage dump, until there is no more room for them.

И в это время скажи, что Господь Всемогущий говорит так: Я разобью народ Иудеи и город Иерусалим так же, как разбивают глиняный кувшин. Этот кувшин нельзя склеить, то же будет и с народом Иудеи. Мёртвых будут хоронить в Тофете до тех пор, пока здесь не останется места.

This is what I will do to this place and its people, says the LORD. I will cause this city to become defiled like Topheth.

Так Я поступлю с этими людьми и с этим местом. Я заставлю этот город быть подобным Тофету". Такова весть от Господа.

Yes, all the houses in Jerusalem, including the palace of Judah’s kings, will become like Topheth — all the houses where you burned incense on the rooftops to your star gods, and where liquid offerings were poured out to your idols.’”

"Дома в Иерусалиме станут такими же грязными, как Тофет. Царские дворцы будут разрушены, как Тофет, потому что люди поклонялись чужим богам на крышах этих домов. Они поклонялись звездам и сжигали жертвы в честь них, они предлагали питьё этим чужим богам"".

Then Jeremiah returned from Topheth, the garbage dump where he had delivered this message, and he stopped in front of the Temple of the LORD. He said to the people there,

Тогда Иеремия покинул Тофет, в котором Господь велел ему проповедовать. Иеремия пошёл в храм Господний и, встав во дворе его, сказал всему народу:

“This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘I will bring disaster upon this city and its surrounding towns as I promised, because you have stubbornly refused to listen to me.’”

"Вот что говорит Господь Всемогущий, Бог Израиля: "Я предупреждал, что принесу много несчастий Иерусалиму и селеньям вокруг него. Я скоро всё это свершу, потому что люди слишком упрямы и не хотят Меня слушать и подчиняться Мне"".
