The Failure of Israel’s Leaders

“Hear this, you priests.
Pay attention, you leaders of Israel.
Listen, you members of the royal family.
Judgment has been handed down against you.
For you have led the people into a snare
by worshiping the idols at Mizpah and Tabor.

"Священники, народ Израиля и дом царя, слушайте Меня! Вам будет суд. Вы были западнёю в Массифе и сетью, раскинутой на Фаворе.

You have dug a deep pit to trap them at Acacia Grove.a
But I will settle with you for what you have done.

Вы много грешили и глубоко погрязли в распутстве, и поэтому Я накажу вас всех.

I know what you are like, O Ephraim.
You cannot hide yourself from me, O Israel.
You have left me as a prostitute leaves her husband;
you are utterly defiled.

Я знаю Ефрем. Я знаю всё, что сделал Израиль. Ты живёшь, как блудница, Ефрем, и Израиль осквернён грехами.

Your deeds won’t let you return to your God.
You are a prostitute through and through,
and you do not know the LORD.

Многие грехи Израиля не дают им обратиться к своему Богу. Ибо дух блуда среди них, и они не познали Господа.

“The arrogance of Israel testifies against her;
Israel and Ephraim will stumble under their load of guilt.
Judah, too, will fall with them.

Гордость Израиля свидетельствует против них. Израиль и Ефрем падут от своего бесчестия, а с ними падёт и Иуда.

When they come with their flocks and herds
to offer sacrifices to the LORD,
they will not find him,
because he has withdrawn from them.

Правители Израиля пойдут искать Господа и поведут за собой своих "овец" и "волов", но не найдут они Его. Господь от них отвернулся.

They have betrayed the honor of the LORD,
bearing children that are not his.
Now their false religion will devour them
along with their wealth.b

Они изменили Господу, и дети их родились от других мужей. Теперь же Он вновь разрушит их самих и их землю".

“Sound the alarm in Gibeah!
Blow the trumpet in Ramah!
Raise the battle cry in Beth-avenc!
Lead on into battle, O warriors of Benjamin!

"Вострубите рогом в Гиве. Протрубите в Раме. Предупредите в Беф-Авене: Враг за тобою, Вениамин!

One thing is certain, Israeld:
On your day of punishment,
you will become a heap of rubble.

Ефрем опустеет в день наказания. Я (Господь) предупреждаю колена Израилевы, что всё это случится.

“The leaders of Judah have become like thieves.e
So I will pour my anger on them like a waterfall.

Вожди Иудины подобны ворам, которые стараются украсть землю другого. И я (Господь) изолью на них Мой гнев, как воду.

The people of Israel will be crushed and broken by my judgment
because they are determined to worship idols.f

И будет наказан Ефрем. Он будет раздавлен и смят, как виноград, потому что захотел жить грязно.

I will destroy Israel as a moth consumes wool.
I will make Judah as weak as rotten wood.

Я уничтожу Ефрема, как моль, которая проедает одежду. Я уничтожу Иуду, как червя, подтачивающего дерево.

“When Israel and Judah saw how sick they were,
Israel turned to Assyria —
to the great king there —
but he could neither help nor cure them.

Ефрем увидел свою болезнь, а Иуда — свою рану. И пошли они к Ассуру за помощью и поведали о своей печали великому царю. Но царь не мог вас исцелить, не мог залечить ваши раны.

14

I will be like a lion to Israel,
like a strong young lion to Judah.
I will tear them to pieces!
I will carry them off,
and no one will be left to rescue them.

Ибо, Я буду, как лев для Ефрема, и как молодой лев для дома Иудина. Да, Я! Я (Господь) растерзаю их на куски и унесу с Собой, и никто не сможет спасти их от Меня.

15

Then I will return to my place
until they admit their guilt and turn to me.
For as soon as trouble comes,
they will earnestly search for me.”

Я уйду и не вернусь до тех пор, пока народ не признает, что виновен, и пока не придёт Меня искать. В скорби своей они, не зная отдыха, будут искать Меня".
