Israel’s Love for Wickedness

“I want to heal Israel, but itsa sins are too great.
Samaria is filled with liars.
Thieves are on the inside
and bandits on the outside!

коли Я лікував Ізраїль. І відкриється неправедність Єфрема і злоба Самарії, бо вони чинили обман. І злодій до нього ввійде, грабуючи, злодій у своїй дорозі,

Its people don’t realize
that I am watching them.
Their sinful deeds are all around them,
and I see them all.

щоби співати разом, як співаки своїм серцем. Я згадав усе їхнє зло. Тепер їх оточили їхні задуми, вони були перед Моїм обличчям.

“The people entertain the king with their wickedness,
and the princes laugh at their lies.

В їхньому злі вони розвеселили царів і в їхній неправдивості — володарів.

They are all adulterers,
always aflame with lust.
They are like an oven that is kept hot
while the baker is kneading the dough.

Усі перелюбники — як палаюча піч, щоб смажене випекти полум’ям, від замішання лою, аж доки воно не вкисне.

On royal holidays, the princes get drunk with wine,
carousing with those who mock them.

У дні наших царів, володарі почали обурюватися від вина, Він простягнув Свою руку з напастями.

Their hearts are like an oven
blazing with intrigue.
Their plot smoldersb through the night,
and in the morning it breaks out like a raging fire.

Тому що їхні серця розгорілися, наче піч, коли вони лютують: цілу ніч Єфрем був сповнений сном, вранці загорівся був, немов полум’я вогню.

Burning like an oven,
they consume their leaders.
They kill their kings one after another,
and no one cries to me for help.

Усі розпеклися, як піч, і пожерли їхніх суддів. Усі їхні царі впали, не було в них того, хто закликав до Мене.

“The people of Israel mingle with godless foreigners,
making themselves as worthless as a half-baked cake!

Єфрем, він замішався в народах, Єфрем став коржем, що не обертається.

9

Worshiping foreign gods has sapped their strength,
but they don’t even know it.
Their hair is gray,
but they don’t realize they’re old and weak.

Чужі пожерли його силу, а він не взнав. І в нього виступили сиві волоски, і він не взнав.

10

Their arrogance testifies against them,
yet they don’t return to the LORD their God
or even try to find him.

10

І впокорена буде гордість Ізраїля перед його обличчям, і вони не повернулися до їхнього Господа Бога, і не шукали Його в цьому всьому.

“The people of Israel have become like silly, witless doves,
first calling to Egypt, then flying to Assyria for help.

І Єфрем був, як нерозумна голубка, що не має серця. Він прикликав Єгипет, і вони пішли до ассирійців.

But as they fly about,
I will throw my net over them
and bring them down like a bird from the sky.
I will punish them for all the evil they do.c

Так, як вони йдуть, Я накину на них Мою сіть. Так, як птахів неба, зведу їх, напоумлю їх чутками про їхню скорботу.

“What sorrow awaits those who have deserted me!
Let them die, for they have rebelled against me.
I wanted to redeem them,
but they have told lies about me.

Горе їм, бо вони відійшли від Мене. Вони нещасні, бо були нечесні супроти Мене. Я їх визволив, а вони сказали проти Мене неправду.

14

They do not cry out to me with sincere hearts.
Instead, they sit on their couches and wail.
They cut themselves,d begging foreign gods for grain and new wine,
and they turn away from me.

І не заволали до Мене їхні серця, але тільки кричали на їхніх ліжках. За пшеницю і вино різалися. Вони були Мною напоумлені,

15

I trained them and made them strong,
yet now they plot evil against me.

15

і Я скріпляв їхні руки, а вони на Мене замислювали зло.

16

They look everywhere except to the Most High.
They are as useless as a crooked bow.
Their leaders will be killed by their enemies
because of their insolence toward me.
Then the people of Egypt
will laugh at them.

16

Повернулися до нічого, стали, наче натягнений лук. Їхні володарі впадуть від меча через нестриманість їхнього язика. Це їхня гидота в єгипетській землі.
