Darby Bible Translation

  • Offerings of Dedication

    On the day Moses set up the Tabernacle, he anointed it and set it apart as holy. He also anointed and set apart all its furnishings and the altar with its utensils.
  • Offerings of Dedication

    And it came to pass on the day that Moses had completed the setting up of the tabernacle, and had anointed it, and hallowed it, and all the furniture thereof, and the altar and all its utensils, and had anointed them, and hallowed them,
  • Then the leaders of Israel — the tribal leaders who had registered the troops — came and brought their offerings.
  • that the princes of Israel, the heads of their fathers' houses, the princes of the tribes, they that were over them that had been numbered, offered;
  • Together they brought six large wagons and twelve oxen. There was a wagon for every two leaders and an ox for each leader. They presented these to the LORD in front of the Tabernacle.
  • and they brought their offering before Jehovah, six covered waggons, and twelve oxen; a waggon for two princes, and an ox for each; and they presented them before the tabernacle.
  • Then the LORD said to Moses,
  • And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
  • “Receive their gifts, and use these oxen and wagons for transporting the Tabernacle.a Distribute them among the Levites according to the work they have to do.”
  • Take it of them, and they shall be for the performance of the service of the tent of meeting, and thou shalt give them unto the Levites, to each according to his service.
  • So Moses took the wagons and oxen and presented them to the Levites.
  • And Moses took the waggons and the oxen, and gave them to the Levites.
  • He gave two wagons and four oxen to the Gershonite division for their work,
  • Two waggons and four oxen he gave to the sons of Gershon, according to their service;

  • and four waggons and eight oxen he gave to the sons of Merari, according to their service, -- under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.
  • But he gave none of the wagons or oxen to the Kohathite division, since they were required to carry the sacred objects of the Tabernacle on their shoulders.
  • But unto the sons of Kohath he gave none, for the service of the sanctuary was upon them: they bore [what they carried] upon the shoulder.
  • The leaders also presented dedication gifts for the altar at the time it was anointed. They each placed their gifts before the altar.
  • And the princes presented the dedication-gift of the altar on the day that it was anointed; and the princes presented their offering before the altar.
