“Suppose a man marries a woman but she does not please him. Having discovered something wrong with her, he writes a document of divorce, hands it to her, and sends her away from his house.
Як хто ві́зьме жінку, і стане їй чоловіком, і коли вона не зна́йде ласки в оча́х його, бо знайшо́в у ній яку ганебну річ, то напише їй листа розводо́вого, і дасть в її руку, та й відпустить її з свого дому.
When she leaves his house, she is free to marry another man.
І ви́йде вона з його дому, і пі́де, і вийде за іншого чоловіка,
But if the second husband also turns against her, writes a document of divorce, hands it to her, and sends her away, or if he dies,
і коли знена́видить її той останній чоловік, то напише їй листа розводо́вого, і дасть в її руку, та й відпустить її з свого дому. Або коли помре той останній чоловік, що взяв був її собі за жінку,
the first husband may not marry her again, for she has been defiled. That would be detestable to the LORD. You must not bring guilt upon the land the LORD your God is giving you as a special possession.
не може перший її муж, що відпустив її, вернути й узяти її, щоб стала йому за жінку по тому, як була занечи́щена, бо це огида перед Господнім лицем, і ти не зробиш грішною тієї землі, яку Господь, Бог твій, дає тобі на спа́док.
“A newly married man must not be drafted into the army or be given any other official responsibilities. He must be free to spend one year at home, bringing happiness to the wife he has married.
Коли хто недавно одружився, не пі́де він до війська, і ніяка справа не покладеться на нього, — вільний він буде один рік для свого дому, і пора́дує свою жінку, що взяв.
“It is wrong to take a set of millstones, or even just the upper millstone, as security for a loan, for the owner uses it to make a living.
Ніхто не ві́зьме в заста́ву долі́шнього каменя жо́рен або горі́шнього каменя жорен, бо він душу взяв би в заста́ву.
“If anyone kidnaps a fellow Israelite and treats him as a slave or sells him, the kidnapper must die. In this way, you will purge the evil from among you.
Коли буде хто зна́йдений, що вкрав кого з братів своїх, з Ізраїлевих синів, і буде пово́дитися з ним як із невільником, або й продасть його, то нехай помре той злодій, і ти вигубиш зло з-посеред себе.
Стережися в хворобі прока́зи, щоб дуже пильнувати, і робити все те, як навчать вас священики-Левити; як наказав я їм, будете додержувати, щоб виконати те,
Remember what the LORD your God did to Miriam as you were coming from Egypt.
Пам'ятайте те, що зробив був Господь, Бог твій, Марія́мі в дорозі, коли ви вихо́дили з Єгипту.
“If you lend anything to your neighbor, do not enter his house to pick up the item he is giving as security.
Коли ти позичиш своєму ближньому по́зичку з чогось, не вві́йдеш до дому його, щоб узяти заста́ву його, —
You must wait outside while he goes in and brings it out to you.
назовні будеш стояти, а той чоловік, що ти позичив йому, винесе до тебе заста́ву назо́вні.
If your neighbor is poor and gives you his cloak as security for a loan, do not keep the cloak overnight.
А якщо він чоловік убогий, не ляжеш спати, маючи заста́ву його, —
Return the cloak to its owner by sunset so he can stay warm through the night and bless you, and the LORD your God will count you as righteous.
конче ве́рнеш йому ту заста́ву при за́ході сонця, і буде він спати на одежі своїй, і буде благословляти тебе, а тобі буде це за праведність перед лицем Господа, Бога твого.
“Never take advantage of poor and destitute laborers, whether they are fellow Israelites or foreigners living in your towns.
Не бу́деш утискати на́ймита, убогого й незаможного з братів своїх та з прихо́дька свого, що в кра́ї твоїм у брамах твоїх.
You must pay them their wages each day before sunset because they are poor and are counting on it. If you don’t, they might cry out to the LORD against you, and it would be counted against you as sin.
Того ж дня даси йому заплату, і не за́йде над нею незапла́ченою сонце, бо вбогий він, і до неї лине душа його. І не буде він кликати на тебе до Господа, і не буде гріха́ на тобі.
“Parents must not be put to death for the sins of their children, nor children for the sins of their parents. Those deserving to die must be put to death for their own crimes.
Не будуть забиті батьки за синів, а сини не будуть забиті за батьків, — кожен за гріх свій смертю пока́раний буде.
“True justice must be given to foreigners living among you and to orphans, and you must never accept a widow’s garment as security for her debt.
Не скривиш суду на прихо́дька, на сироту, і не будеш брати в заста́ву вдови́ної одежі.
Always remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the LORD your God redeemed you from your slavery. That is why I have given you this command.
І будеш пам'ятати, що рабом був ти сам у Єгипті, і викупив тебе Господь, Бог твій, звідти, тому я наказую тобі робити цю річ.
“When you are harvesting your crops and forget to bring in a bundle of grain from your field, don’t go back to get it. Leave it for the foreigners, orphans, and widows. Then the LORD your God will bless you in all you do.
Коли будеш жати жни́во своє на своїм полі, і забудеш на полі снопа, не ве́рнешся взяти його, — він буде прихо́дькові, сироті та вдові, щоб поблагословив тебе Господь, Бог твій, у всім чині твоїх рук.
When you beat the olives from your olive trees, don’t go over the boughs twice. Leave the remaining olives for the foreigners, orphans, and widows.
Коли будеш оббивати оливку свою, не будеш переоббивати в галу́зках за собою: воно буде прихо́дькові, сироті та вдові.
When you gather the grapes in your vineyard, don’t glean the vines after they are picked. Leave the remaining grapes for the foreigners, orphans, and widows.
Коли будеш збирати виноград свого виноградника, не будеш збирати поли́шеного за собою, — воно буде прихо́дькові, сироті та вдові.
