Dear brothers and sisters,a the longing of my heart and my prayer to God is for the people of Israel to be saved.

I know what enthusiasm they have for God, but it is misdirected zeal.

Ибо я свидетельствую, что они ревностно относятся к Богу, хотя и не знают верного пути.

For they don’t understand God’s way of making people right with himself. Refusing to accept God’s way, they cling to their own way of getting right with God by trying to keep the law.

Так как они не знали о праведности, даруемой Самим Богом, и пытались достичь праведности сами по себе, то не принимали того пути, следуя которым люди могут оправдаться перед Ним.

For Christ has already accomplished the purpose for which the law was given.b As a result, all who believe in him are made right with God.

Христос положил закону конец, чтобы каждый, кто уверовал, был оправдан перед Богом.

Salvation Is for Everyone

For Moses writes that the law’s way of making a person right with God requires obedience to all of its commands.c

But faith’s way of getting right with God says, “Don’t say in your heart, ‘Who will go up to heaven?’ (to bring Christ down to earth).

And don’t say, ‘Who will go down to the place of the dead?’ (to bring Christ back to life again).”

"И не спрашивайте: "Кто спустится в бездну?"

In fact, it says,
“The message is very close at hand;
it is on your lips and in your heart.”d
And that message is the very message about faith that we preach:

Нет! Что сказано в Писании? "Слово Божье рядом с тобой, оно на устах твоих и в сердце твоём". И слово это о вере, которой мы учим людей.

If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Если ты произнесёшь своими устами: "Иисус — Господь" и уверуешь в сердце своём, что Бог воскресил Его из мёртвых, то будешь спасён.

For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.

Каждый, кто в сердце своём верует, что оправдается перед Богом, устами объявляет свою веру, чтобы обрести спасение.

As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.”e

Ибо Писание гласит: "Кто верует в Него, не устыдится".

Jew and Gentilef are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him.

Нет никакого различия между иудеем и язычником, ибо Господь един для всех и изливает милость Свою на тех, кто доверился Ему.

For “Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.”g

Ибо "каждый, кто доверился Господу, будет спасён".

But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?

Но как же смогут они довериться Господу, если не признавали Его? И как смогут они уверовать в Него, если не слышали о Нём? И как смогут они услышать о Нём, если им никто не проповедует о Нём?

And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”h

И как же будут люди проповедовать, если не будут посланы на проповедь? Как сказано в Писании: "Прекрасны стопы приносящих благую весть".

But not everyone welcomes the Good News, for Isaiah the prophet said, “LORD, who has believed our message?”i

Но не все иудеи признали эту благую весть. Исайя сказал: "Господи, кто поверил поучениям нашим?"

So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.

Значит, вера приходит к людям, если они слышат благую весть. А благая весть приходит, когда проповедуют о Христе.

But I ask, have the people of Israel actually heard the message? Yes, they have:
“The message has gone throughout the earth,
and the words to all the world.”j

Но я говорю: "Разве они не слышали благую весть?" Конечно, слышали! В Писании сказано: "Звуки голосов их разнеслись по всему свету, и слова их достигли края света".

But I ask, did the people of Israel really understand? Yes, they did, for even in the time of Moses, God said,
“I will rouse your jealousy through people who are not even a nation.
I will provoke your anger through the foolish Gentiles.”k

Но я говорю: "Ведь народ Израиля понял всё, не так ли?" Сперва Моисей говорит вот что: "Я возбужу в вас ревность с помощью народа, который и не народ, Я вызову у вас гнев с помощью народа, которому не дано понять".

20

And later Isaiah spoke boldly for God, saying,
“I was found by people who were not looking for me.
I showed myself to those who were not asking for me.”l

Затем Исайя повторяет смело: "Меня обрели те, кто не искал Меня. Я открылся тем, кто не спрашивал обо Мне".

But regarding Israel, God said,
“All day long I opened my arms to them,
but they were disobedient and rebellious.”m

О народе Израиля Бог говорит: "Весь день Я дожидался их, но они отказываются повиноваться и следовать за Мной".
