Sin’s Power Is Broken

Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace?

То що скажемо? Будемо залишатися в гріху, аби множилася благодать?

Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?

Зовсім ні! Ми, що померли для гріха, як далі будемо жити в ньому?

Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death?

Чи ви не знаєте, що ті з нас, які хрестилися в Ісуса Христа, хрестилися в Його смерть?

For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.

Тож ми поховані з Ним через хрещення в смерть, щоб так, як Христос устав із мертвих славою Отця, так і ми почали би ходити в оновленні життя.

Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was.

Бо якщо ми з’єдналися з Ним подобою Його смерті, то з’єднаємося з Ним і подобою воскресіння.

We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin.

Знаємо, що стара наша людина розп’ята разом з Ним, щоби гріховне тіло позбавити влади, щоб ми більше не служили гріхові,

For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin.

бо хто помер, той оправданий від гріха.

And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him.

Якщо ми померли з Христом, то віримо, що й будемо жити з Ним,

We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him.

знаючи, що Христос, уставши з мертвих, більше не вмирає — смерть над Ним більше не панує.

When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God.

Бо як Він помер, то тільки один раз помер для гріха, а як живе, то для Бога живе.

11

So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.

Так само й ви вважайте себе мертвими для гріха і живими для Бога в [нашому Господі] Ісусі Христі.

12

Do not let sin control the way you live;a do not give in to sinful desires.

Хай же гріх не панує у вашому смертному тілі, щоб не підкорятися його пожаданням;

13

Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.

13

не давайте ваших членів гріхові як знаряддя неправедності, але, як ожилі з мертвих, віддавайте себе Богові, а ваші члени віддавайте Богові як знаряддя праведності.

14

Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.

Тож хай гріх не панує над вами, бо ви не під Законом, а під благодаттю.

15

Well then, since God’s grace has set us free from the law, does that mean we can go on sinning? Of course not!

15

То що, будемо грішити, бо ми не під Законом, а під благодаттю? Зовсім ні!

16

Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.

16

Хіба ви не знаєте, що кому віддаєте себе як раби на послух, рабами того ви і є; кого слухаєте: або гріха — на смерть, або послуху — на праведність?

17

Thank God! Once you were slaves of sin, but now you wholeheartedly obey this teaching we have given you.

Дякувати Богові, що ви були рабами гріха, але сприйняли серцем те вчення, якому віддалися.

18

Now you are free from your slavery to sin, and you have become slaves to righteous living.

18

Звільнившись від гріха, ви стали рабами праведності.

19

Because of the weakness of your human nature, I am using the illustration of slavery to help you understand all this. Previously, you let yourselves be slaves to impurity and lawlessness, which led ever deeper into sin. Now you must give yourselves to be slaves to righteous living so that you will become holy.

Кажу це по-людському, з огляду на немічність вашого тіла. Бо як ви віддавали ваші члени в рабство нечистоті й беззаконню для беззаконня, так тепер віддайте ваші члени в рабство праведності — для освячення.

20

When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the obligation to do right.

20

Бо коли ви були рабами гріха, то були вільні від праведності.

21

And what was the result? You are now ashamed of the things you used to do, things that end in eternal doom.

Який же плід ви тоді мали? Його ви нині соромитеся, бо його кінець — смерть.

22

But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life.

22

Нині ж, звільнившись від гріха і ставши рабами Бога, маєте ваш плід — освячення, а кінець — вічне життя.

23

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

23

Адже заплата за гріх — смерть, а Божий дар благодаті — вічне життя в Ісусі Христі, нашому Господі.
