I want you to know how much I have agonized for you and for the church at Laodicea, and for many other believers who have never met me personally.
Я хо́чу, щоб ви знали, яку велику боротьбу я маю за вас і за тих, хто в Лаодикі́ї, і за всіх, хто не бачив мого тіле́сного обличчя.
I want them to be encouraged and knit together by strong ties of love. I want them to have complete confidence that they understand God’s mysterious plan, which is Christ himself.
Хай потішаться їхні серця́, у любові поє́днані, для всякого багатства повного розуміння, для пізна́ння таємниці Бога, Христа,
In him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
в Якому всі скарби премудрости й пізна́ння заховані.
I am telling you this so no one will deceive you with well-crafted arguments.
А це говорю́, щоб ніхто вас не звів фальшивими доводами при суперечці.
For though I am far away from you, my heart is with you. And I rejoice that you are living as you should and that your faith in Christ is strong.
Бо хоч тілом я й неприсутній, та духом я з вами, і з радістю бачу ваш порядок та твердість вашої віри в Христа.
Freedom from Rules and New Life in Christ
And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him.
Отже, як ви прийняли́ були Христа Ісуса Господа, так і в Ньому ходіть,
Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.
бувши вкорі́нені й збудо́вані на Ньому, та зміцнені в вірі, як вас на́вчено, збагачуючись у ній з подякою.
Стережіться, щоб ніхто вас не звів філосо́фією та марно́ю ома́ною за переда́нням лю́дським, за стихі́ями світу, а не за Христом,
бо в Ньому тілесно живе вся повнота́ Божества́.
So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.
І ви маєте в Нім повноту́, а Він — Голова всякої влади й начальства.
Ви в Ньому були́ й обрізані нерукотво́рним обрі́занням, скинувши лю́дське тіло гріховне в Христовім обрі́занні.
For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead.
Ви були з Ним поховані у хрищенні, у Ньому ви й ра́зом воскресли через віру в силу Бога, що Він з мертвих Його воскресив.
You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins.
І вас, що мертві були́ в гріхах та в необрізанні вашого тіла, Він оживив ра́зом із Ним, простивши усі гріхи,
He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross.
знищивши рукописа́ння на нас, що нака́зами було проти нас, — Він із сере́дини взяв його та й прибив його на хресті,
роззброївши вла́ди й начальства, сміли́во їх вивів на посміхо́висько, — перемігши їх на хресті!
So don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths.
Тож, хай ніхто вас не судить за їжу, чи за питво́, чи за чергове свято, чи за новомі́сяччя, чи за суботи, —
For these rules are only shadows of the reality yet to come. And Christ himself is that reality.
бо це — тінь майбу́тнього, а тіло — Христове.
Нехай вас не зводить ніхто уда́ваною покорою та службою ангола́м, вдаючися до того, чого не бачив, нерозважно надимаючись своїм тілесним розумом,
and they are not connected to Christ, the head of the body. For he holds the whole body together with its joints and ligaments, and it grows as God nourishes it.
а не тримаючись Голови, від Якої все тіло, сугло́бами й зв'я́зями з'є́днане й змі́цнене, росте зростом Божим.
You have died with Christ, and he has set you free from the spiritual powers of this world. So why do you keep on following the rules of the world, such as,
Отож, як ви вмерли з Христом для стихі́й світу, то чого ви, немов ті, хто в світі живе, пристаєте на постанови:
Such rules are mere human teachings about things that deteriorate as we use them.
бо то все зни́щиться, як уживати його, — за при́казами та наукою лю́дською.
These rules may seem wise because they require strong devotion, pious self-denial, and severe bodily discipline. But they provide no help in conquering a person’s evil desires.
Воно ж має вид мудрости в самовільній службі й покорі та в знеси́люванні тіла, та не має якогось зна́чення, хіба щодо наси́чення тіла.
