The LORD’s Charge to Joshua

After the death of Moses the LORD’s servant, the LORD spoke to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ assistant. He said,

І сталося по смерті Мойсея, раба Божого, і сказав Господь до Ісуса, сина Нави́нового, Мойсеєвого слуги, говорячи:

“Moses my servant is dead. Therefore, the time has come for you to lead these people, the Israelites, across the Jordan River into the land I am giving them.

2

„Мойсей, раб Мій, помер. А тепер уставай, перейди цей Йорда́н ти та ввесь народ цей до того кра́ю, що Я даю їм, Ізраїлевим синам.

3

I promise you what I promised Moses: ‘Wherever you set foot, you will be on land I have given you —

Кожне місце, що стопа́ ноги вашої сту́пить на ньому, Я дав вам, як Я говорив був Мойсеєві.

4

from the Negev wilderness in the south to the Lebanon mountains in the north, from the Euphrates River in the east to the Mediterranean Seaa in the west, including all the land of the Hittites.’

Від пустині й цього Лива́ну й аж до Великої Річки, річки Ефра́ту, увесь край хітте́ян, і аж до Великого моря на за́хід буде ваша границя.

No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you.

Не встоїть ніхто перед тобою по всі дні життя твого. Як був Я з Мойсеєм, так буду з тобою, — не залишу́ тебе й не покину тебе.

“Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them.

Будь сильний та відва́жний, бо ти зробиш, що народ цей посяде той край, що Я присягнув був їхнім батька́м дати їм.

7

Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do.

Тільки будь дуже сильний та відважний, щоб доде́ржувати чинити за всім тим Зако́ном, що наказав був тобі Мойсей, Мій раб, — не відхи́лишся від нього ні право́руч, ні ліво́руч, щоб щастило тобі в усьому, де ти будеш ходити.

Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.

Нехай книга цього Зако́ну не відійде від твоїх уст, але будеш розду́мувати про неї вдень та вночі, щоб доде́ржувати чинити все, що написано в ній, бо тоді зробиш щасливими доро́ги свої, і тоді буде щастити тобі.

This is my command — be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

Чи ж не наказав Я тобі: будь сильний та відва́жний? Не бійся й не лякайся, бо з тобою Госпо́дь, Бог твій, у всьому, де́ ти будеш ходити“.

Joshua’s Charge to the Israelites

Joshua then commanded the officers of Israel,

І наказав Ісус урядникам наро́ду, говорячи:

11

“Go through the camp and tell the people to get their provisions ready. In three days you will cross the Jordan River and take possession of the land the LORD your God is giving you.”

11

„Перейдіть посеред табо́ру, і накажіть наро́дові, говорячи: Приготуйте собі пожи́ву на дорогу, бо по трьох днях ви перехо́дите цей Йорда́н, щоб увійти посісти той край, що Господь, Бог ваш, дає вам його на спадщину“.

12

Then Joshua called together the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh. He told them,

А Руви́мовому й Ґадовому та половині пле́мени Манасіїного Ісус сказав, говорячи:

13

“Remember what Moses, the servant of the LORD, commanded you: ‘The LORD your God is giving you a place of rest. He has given you this land.’

13

„Пам'ятайте те слово, що вам наказав був Мойсей, раб Господній, говорячи: Господь, Бог ваш, що відпочи́нок дає вам, дав вам цей край.

14

Your wives, children, and livestock may remain here in the land Moses assigned to you on the east side of the Jordan River. But your strong warriors, fully armed, must lead the other tribes across the Jordan to help them conquer their territory. Stay with them

Ваші жінки́, діти ваші та ваша худоба зоста́нуться в кра́ї, що дав вам Мойсей по той бік Йорда́ну, а ви пере́йдете озбро́єні перед вашими братами, усі сильні військо́ві, і допоможете їм,

15

until the LORD gives them rest, as he has given you rest, and until they, too, possess the land the LORD your God is giving them. Only then may you return and settle here on the east side of the Jordan River in the land that Moses, the servant of the LORD, assigned to you.”

аж поки Господь не дасть відпочи́нку вашим братам, як вам, і посядуть і вони той край, що Господь, Вог ваш, дає їм. І ви ве́рнетеся до краю вашого спа́дку, і посядете його, що дав вам Мойсей, раб Господній, по той бік Йорда́ну на схід сонця“.

They answered Joshua, “We will do whatever you command us, and we will go wherever you send us.

А вони відповіли́ Ісусові, говорячи: „Усе, що накажеш нам, ми зро́бимо, і до всього, куди пошлеш нас, пі́демо.

17

We will obey you just as we obeyed Moses. And may the LORD your God be with you as he was with Moses.

17

Усе так, як слухалися ми Мойсея, так будемо слу́хатися тебе́, тільки нехай буде Господь, Бог твій, з тобою, як був Він із Мойсеєм.

18

Anyone who rebels against your orders and does not obey your words and everything you command will be put to death. So be strong and courageous!”

Кожен, хто буде неслухня́ний нака́зам твоїм, і не буде слухатися слів твоїх щодо всього, що накажеш йому, нехай буде вбитий. Тільки будь сильний та відважний!“
