The LORD’s Charge to Joshua

After the death of Moses the LORD’s servant, the LORD spoke to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ assistant. He said,

І сталося, що після смерті Мойсея, Господь звернувся до Ісуса, сина Навина, помічника Мойсея, говорячи:

“Moses my servant is dead. Therefore, the time has come for you to lead these people, the Israelites, across the Jordan River into the land I am giving them.

Мій слуга Мойсей помер. Тож тепер, піднявшись, перейди Йордан — ти і весь цей народ — в землю, яку Я їм даю.

3

I promise you what I promised Moses: ‘Wherever you set foot, you will be on land I have given you —

Кожне місце, на яке поставите стопу ваших ніг, Я дам його вам, як і сказав Мойсеєві, —

4

from the Negev wilderness in the south to the Lebanon mountains in the north, from the Euphrates River in the east to the Mediterranean Seaa in the west, including all the land of the Hittites.’

пустелю і Антиливан до великої ріки, ріки Євфрат, і до найвіддаленішого моря, — від заходу сонця будуть ваші границі.

No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you.

Не встоїть перед вами жодна людина всі дні твого життя. Як Я був з Мойсеєм, так буду Я і з тобою, і не покину тебе, і не погордую тобою.

“Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them.

Кріпися і будь мужній, бо ти поділиш цьому народові землю, про яку Я вашим батькам пообіцяв, що її дам їм!

Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do.

Отже, кріпись і будь мужнім, щоби дотримуватися всіх вказівок і чинити так, як тобі заповів Мій слуга Мойсей, і не звернеш від них ні направо, ні наліво, щоб ти був розумний в усьому, що чинитимеш.

Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.

А книга цього закону не відходитиме від твоїх уст, і повчатимешся з неї вдень і вночі, щоб умів ти чинити все написане в ній. Тоді будеш успішним, і матимеш успіх на твоїх дорогах, і тоді станеш розумним.

This is my command — be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

Ось Я заповів тобі: будь сильним і мужнім, не жахайся і не бійся, бо з тобою Господь, твій Бог, у всьому, куди тільки підеш!

Joshua’s Charge to the Israelites

Joshua then commanded the officers of Israel,

І заповів Ісус писарям народу, кажучи:

11

“Go through the camp and tell the people to get their provisions ready. In three days you will cross the Jordan River and take possession of the land the LORD your God is giving you.”

Увійдіть у табір до народу і заповісте народові, кажучи: Приготуйте запаси, бо ще три дні, і ви переходите цей Йордан, входячи успадкувати землю, яку Господь, Бог ваших батьків, дає вам!

Then Joshua called together the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh. He told them,

А племені Рувима, Ґада і половині племені Манасії Ісус сказав:

“Remember what Moses, the servant of the LORD, commanded you: ‘The LORD your God is giving you a place of rest. He has given you this land.’

Згадайте Господнє слово, яке заповів вам Мойсей, Господній слуга, кажучи: Господь, ваш Бог, дав вам спочинок і дав вам цю землю.

14

Your wives, children, and livestock may remain here in the land Moses assigned to you on the east side of the Jordan River. But your strong warriors, fully armed, must lead the other tribes across the Jordan to help them conquer their territory. Stay with them

Ваші жінки, ваші діти і ваша худоба хай поселяються в землі, яку Він вам дав, ви ж, добре озброєні, першими перейдете між вашими братами — кожний сильний — і воюватимете з ними,

15

until the LORD gives them rest, as he has given you rest, and until they, too, possess the land the LORD your God is giving them. Only then may you return and settle here on the east side of the Jordan River in the land that Moses, the servant of the LORD, assigned to you.”

аж доки не дасть Господь, ваш Бог, отримати відпочинок вашим братам, як і вам, тож і вони успадкують землю, яку Господь, ваш Бог, їм дає. І кожний повернеться до свого спадку, який дав вам Мойсей на другому боці Йордану, на сході сонця.

They answered Joshua, “We will do whatever you command us, and we will go wherever you send us.

А вони у відповідь сказали Ісусові: Усе, що тільки заповів ти нам, зробимо, і в кожне місце, куди тільки пошлеш нас, підемо!

17

We will obey you just as we obeyed Moses. And may the LORD your God be with you as he was with Moses.

17

Як у всьому ми слухалися Мойсея, так і тебе будемо слухатися, тільки нехай буде Господь, наш Бог, з тобою, як був Він із Мойсеєм.

18

Anyone who rebels against your orders and does not obey your words and everything you command will be put to death. So be strong and courageous!”

18

А людина, яка не послухається тебе, і яка не прислухається до твоїх слів, як тільки накажеш їй, нехай помре! Але будь сильним і мужнім!
