New Living Translation

New American Standard Bible

  • Songs of Victory in Heaven

After this, I heard what sounded like a vast crowd in heaven shouting,
    “Praise the LORD!a
Salvation and glory and power belong to our God.
  • The Fourfold Hallelujah

After these things I heard something like a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying,
    “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God;
  • His judgments are true and just.
He has punished the great prostitute
who corrupted the earth with her immorality.
He has avenged the murder of his servants.”
  • BECAUSE HIS JUDGMENTS ARE TRUE AND RIGHTEOUS; for He has judged the great harlot who was corrupting the earth with her immorality, and HE HAS AVENGED THE BLOOD OF HIS BOND-SERVANTS ON HER.”
  • And again their voices rang out:
    “Praise the LORD!
The smoke from that city ascends forever and ever!”
  • And a second time they said, “Hallelujah! HER SMOKE RISES UP FOREVER AND EVER.”
  • Then the twenty-four elders and the four living beings fell down and worshiped God, who was sitting on the throne. They cried out, “Amen! Praise the LORD!”
  • And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who sits on the throne saying, “Amen. Hallelujah!”
  • And from the throne came a voice that said,
    “Praise our God,
    all his servants,
    all who fear him,
from the least to the greatest.”
  • And a voice came from the throne, saying,
“Give praise to our God, all you His bond-servants, you who fear Him, the small and the great.”
  • Then I heard again what sounded like the shout of a vast crowd or the roar of mighty ocean waves or the crash of loud thunder:
    “Praise the LORD!
For the Lord our God,b the Almighty, reigns.
  • Then I heard something like the voice of a great multitude and like the sound of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, saying,
“Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns.
  • Let us be glad and rejoice,
and let us give honor to him.
For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb,
and his bride has prepared herself.

  • Marriage of the Lamb

“Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready.”
  • She has been given the finest of pure white linen to wear.”
For the fine linen represents the good deeds of God’s holy people.
  • It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.
  • And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.” And he added, “These are true words that come from God.”
  • Then he said to me, “Write, ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’” And he said to me, “These are true words of God.”
  • Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said, “No, don’t worship me. I am a servant of God, just like you and your brothers and sistersc who testify about their faith in Jesus. Worship only God. For the essence of prophecy is to give a clear witness for Jesus.d
  • Then I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Do not do that; I am a fellow servant of yours and your brethren who hold the testimony of Jesus; worship God. For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

  • The Rider on the White Horse

Then I saw heaven opened, and a white horse was standing there. Its rider was named Faithful and True, for he judges fairly and wages a righteous war.

  • The Coming of Christ

And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war.
  • His eyes were like flames of fire, and on his head were many crowns. A name was written on him that no one understood except himself.
  • His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself.
  • He wore a robe dipped in blood, and his title was the Word of God.
  • He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.
  • The armies of heaven, dressed in the finest of pure white linen, followed him on white horses.
  • And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses.
  • From his mouth came a sharp sword to strike down the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod. He will release the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty, like juice flowing from a winepress.
  • From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty.
  • On his robe at his thighe was written this title: King of all kings and Lord of all lords.
  • And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
  • Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, shouting to the vultures flying high in the sky: “Come! Gather together for the great banquet God has prepared.
  • Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and he cried out with a loud voice, saying to all the birds which fly in midheaven, “Come, assemble for the great supper of God,
  • Come and eat the flesh of kings, generals, and strong warriors; of horses and their riders; and of all humanity, both free and slave, small and great.”
  • so that you may eat the flesh of kings and the flesh of commanders and the flesh of mighty men and the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them and the flesh of all men, both free men and slaves, and small and great.”
  • Then I saw the beast and the kings of the world and their armies gathered together to fight against the one sitting on the horse and his army.
  • And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies assembled to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army.
  • And the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who did mighty miracles on behalf of the beast — miracles that deceived all who had accepted the mark of the beast and who worshiped his statue. Both the beast and his false prophet were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur.

  • Doom of the Beast and False Prophet

And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet who performed the signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image; these two were thrown alive into the lake of fire which burns with brimstone.
  • Their entire army was killed by the sharp sword that came from the mouth of the one riding the white horse. And the vultures all gorged themselves on the dead bodies.
  • And the rest were killed with the sword which came from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse, and all the birds were filled with their flesh.
