New Living Translation

New King James Version

  • God’s People Will Be Preserved

    Then I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds so they did not blow on the earth or the sea, or even on any tree.
  • The Sealed of Israel

    After these things I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, on the sea, or on any tree.
  • And I saw another angel coming up from the east, carrying the seal of the living God. And he shouted to those four angels, who had been given power to harm land and sea,
  • Then I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God. And he cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea,
  • “Wait! Don’t harm the land or the sea or the trees until we have placed the seal of God on the foreheads of his servants.”
  • saying, “Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees till we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.”
  • And I heard how many were marked with the seal of God — 144,000 were sealed from all the tribes of Israel:
  • And I heard the number of those who were sealed. One hundred and forty-four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel were sealed:
  • from Judah12,000from Reuben12,000from Gad12,000
  • of the tribe of Judah twelve thousand were sealed;

  • of the tribe of Simeon twelve thousand were sealed;
    of the tribe of Levi twelve thousand were sealed;
    of the tribe of Issachar twelve thousand were sealed;
  • from Zebulun12,000from Joseph12,000from Benjamin12,000
  • of the tribe of Zebulun twelve thousand were sealed;
    of the tribe of Joseph twelve thousand were sealed;
    of the tribe of Benjamin twelve thousand were sealed.

  • Praise from the Great Crowd

    After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands.
  • A Multitude from the Great Tribulation

    After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands,
  • And they were shouting with a great roar,
    “Salvation comes from our God who sits on the throne
    and from the Lamb!”
  • and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”
  • And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living beings. And they fell before the throne with their faces to the ground and worshiped God.
  • All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God,
  • They sang,
    “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom
    and thanksgiving and honor
    and power and strength belong to our God
    forever and ever! Amen.”
  • saying:
    “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom,
    Thanksgiving and honor and power and might,
    Be to our God forever and ever.
    Amen.”
  • Then one of the twenty-four elders asked me, “Who are these who are clothed in white? Where did they come from?”
  • Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, “Who are these arrayed in white robes, and where did they come from?”
  • And I said to him, “Sir, you are the one who knows.”
    Then he said to me, “These are the ones who died ina the great tribulation.b They have washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb and made them white.
  • And I said to him, [b]“Sir, you know.”
    So he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
  • “That is why they stand in front of God’s throne
    and serve him day and night in his Temple.
    And he who sits on the throne
    will give them shelter.
  • Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple. And He who sits on the throne will dwell among them.
  • They will never again be hungry or thirsty;
    they will never be scorched by the heat of the sun.
  • They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat;
  • For the Lamb on the thronec
    will be their Shepherd.
    He will lead them to springs of life-giving water.
    And God will wipe every tear from their eyes.”
  • for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to [c]living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
