Бог сказал Иакову:
— Поднимись в Вефиль, поселись там и построй там жертвенник Богу, Который явился тебе, когда ты бежал от своего брата Исава.

Jacob’s Return to Bethel

Then God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to Bethel and dwell there; and make an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you fled from the face of Esau your brother.”

Иаков сказал своим домашним и всем, кто был с ним:
— Избавьтесь от чужих богов, которые у вас с собой, очиститесь и переоденьтесь.

And Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, “Put away the foreign gods that are among you, purify yourselves, and change your garments.

Потом соберитесь в дорогу, и мы отправимся в Вефиль, где я построю жертвенник Богу, Который ответил мне в день бедствия и был со мной, куда бы я ни шел.

Then let us arise and go up to Bethel; and I will make an altar there to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and has been with me in the way which I have gone.”

Они отдали Иакову всех чужих богов, которые у них были, и серьги из ушей,181 и Иаков закопал их под дубом в Шехеме.

So they gave Jacob all the foreign [a]gods which were in their hands, and the earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the terebinth tree which was by Shechem.

Потом они отправились в путь, и ужас Божий объял все города вокруг них, так что никто не преследовал детей Иакова.

And they journeyed, and the terror of God was upon the cities that were all around them, and they did not pursue the sons of Jacob.

Иаков и все, кто был с ним, пришли в Луз (то есть Вефиль) в земле Ханаана.

So Jacob came to Luz (that is, Bethel), which is in the land of Canaan, he and all the people who were with him.

Там он построил жертвенник и назвал то место «Бог Вефиля», потому что там Бог открылся ему, когда он бежал от своего брата.

And he built an altar there and called the place [b]El Bethel, because there God appeared to him when he fled from the face of his brother.

Now Deborah, Rebekah’s nurse, died, and she was buried below Bethel under the terebinth tree. So the name of it was called [c]Allon Bachuth.

Then God appeared to Jacob again, when he came from Padan Aram, and blessed him.

Бог сказал ему:
— Твое имя Иаков,183 но отныне ты не будешь называться Иаковом. Имя тебе будет — «Израиль».184
Так Он назвал его Израилем.

And God said to him, “Your name is Jacob; your name shall not be called Jacob anymore, but Israel shall be your name.” So He called his name Israel.

Бог сказал ему:
— Я — Бог Всемогущий,185 плодись и умножайся. Народ и множество народов, произойдут от тебя, и цари произойдут от твоих чресел.

Also God said to him: “I am God Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall proceed from you, and kings shall come from your body.

12

Землю, которую Я дал Аврааму и Исааку, Я отдаю тебе и отдам ее твоим потомкам.

The land which I gave Abraham and Isaac I give to you; and to your descendants after you I give this land.”

И Бог поднялся от него там, где Он говорил с ним.

Then God went[d] up from him in the place where He talked with him.

14

Иаков поставил каменный столб на том месте, где Бог говорил с ним, и возлил на него вино как жертву возлияния и масло.

So Jacob set up a pillar in the place where He talked with him, a pillar of stone; and he poured a drink offering on it, and he poured oil on it.

15

Иаков назвал место, где Бог говорил с ним, Вефиль.186

15

And Jacob called the name of the place where God spoke with him, Bethel.

Они покинули Вефиль и были уже недалеко от Ефрафы, когда Рахиль начала рожать, и роды были очень трудные.

Death of Rachel

Then they journeyed from Bethel. And when there was but a little distance to go to Ephrath, Rachel labored in childbirth, and she had hard labor.

17

Она сильно мучилась при родах, и женщина, принимавшая роды, сказала ей:
— Не бойся — у тебя будет еще один сын.

Now it came to pass, when she was in hard labor, that the midwife said to her, “Do not fear; you will have this son also.”

Когда Рахиль испускала дух, умирая, она назвала сына Бен-Они,187 но отец назвал его Вениамин.188

And so it was, as her soul was departing (for she died), that she called his name [e]Ben-Oni; but his father called him [f]Benjamin.

Рахиль умерла и была похоронена на пути в Ефрафу (то есть Вифлеем).

So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem).

Над ее могилой Иаков поставил памятный камень; это тот камень, что стоит над могилой Рахили до сего дня.

And Jacob set a pillar on her grave, which is the pillar of Rachel’s grave to this day.

21

Израиль продолжал путь и поставил шатер за Мигдал-Едером.

Then Israel journeyed and pitched his tent beyond the tower of Eder.

Когда Израиль жил в той земле, Рувим лег с наложницей отца Валлой, и Израиль узнал об этом.
У Иакова было двенадцать сыновей:

And it happened, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father’s concubine; and Israel heard about it.
Jacob’s Twelve Sons

Now the sons of Jacob were twelve:

Иссахар и Завулон.

the sons of Leah were Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn, and Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun;

От Рахили:

the sons of Rachel were Joseph and Benjamin;

От Рахилиной служанки Валлы:
Дан и Неффалим.

the sons of Bilhah, Rachel’s maidservant, were Dan and Naphtali;

От Лииной служанки Зелфы:
Гад и Асир.

Вот сыновья Иакова, рожденные ему в Паддан-Араме.

and the sons of Zilpah, Leah’s maidservant, were Gad and Asher. These were the sons of Jacob who were born to him in Padan Aram.

Иаков пришел к своему отцу Исааку в Мамре, что рядом с Кирьят-Арбой (то есть Хевроном), где жили пришельцами Авраам и Исаак.

Death of Isaac

Then Jacob came to his father Isaac at Mamre, or Kirjath Arba[g] (that is, Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac had dwelt.

Всего дней жизни Исаака было сто восемьдесят лет;

Now the days of Isaac were one hundred and eighty years.

29

Исаак испустил дух, умер и отошел к своим предкам, старым и насытившимся жизнью. Его сыновья Исав и Иаков похоронили его.

So Isaac breathed his last and died, and was [h]gathered to his people, being old and full of days. And his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.
