    Об аммонитянах.
    Так говорит Господь:

    — Разве нет у Израиля сыновей?
    Разве нет у него наследника?
    Почему же Гадом завладел Молох,150
    и народ его живет в городах Гада?

    Judgment on Ammon

    Against the Ammonites.
    Thus says the Lord:
    “Has Israel no sons?
    Has he no heir?
    Why then does [a]Milcom inherit Gad,
    And his people dwell in its cities?

    Но настанут дни, —
    возвещает Господь, —
    когда по Моей воле прозвучит боевой клич
    под аммонитской столицей Равва.
    Она превратится в груду развалин,
    и окрестные селения сгорят дотла.
    Тогда Израиль прогонит тех,
    кто прогнал его, —
    возвещает Господь. —

    Therefore behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord,
    “That I will cause to be heard an alarm of war
    In Rabbah of the Ammonites;
    It shall be a desolate mound,
    And her [b]villages shall be burned with fire.
    Then Israel shall take possession of his inheritance,” says the Lord.

    Голосите, дочери151 Раввы!
    Оденьтесь в рубище,
    рыдайте и ходите вдоль стен,
    потому что Молох уходит в плен

    “Wail, O Heshbon, for Ai is plundered!
    Cry, you daughters of Rabbah,
    Gird yourselves with sackcloth!
    Lament and run to and fro by the walls;
    For [c]Milcom shall go into captivity
    With his priests and his princes together.

    Что ты хвастаешься долинами?
    Что ты кичишься плодородными долинами?152
    Дочь-отступница, ты уповаешь на сокровища,
    говоря: «Кто против меня выступит?»

    Why do you boast in the valleys,
    [d]Your flowing valley, O backsliding daughter?
    Who trusted in her treasures, saying,
    ‘Who will come against me?’

    Я нагоню на тебя страх
    со всех сторон, —
    возвещает Владыка, Господь Сил, —
    всех вас разгонят,
    и никто не соберет бегущих.

    Behold, I will bring fear upon you,”
    Says the Lord God of hosts,
    “From all those who are around you;
    You shall be driven out, everyone headlong,
    And no one will gather those who wander off.

    Но после этого Я верну аммонитянам благополучие, —
    возвещает Господь.

    But afterward I will bring back
    The captives of the people of Ammon,” says the Lord.

    Об Эдоме.
    Так говорит Господь Сил:

    — Разве нет больше мудрости в Темане,153
    и нет рассудка у разумных,
    что их мудрость оскудела?

    Judgment on Edom

    Against Edom.
    Thus says the Lord of hosts:
    “Is wisdom no more in Teman?
    Has counsel perished from the prudent?
    Has their wisdom vanished?

    Повернитесь, бегите
    и скройтесь в глубоких пещерах,
    жители Дедана,
    так как Я наведу на Исава154 бедствие,
    когда придет время его наказать.

    Flee, turn back, dwell in the depths, O inhabitants of Dedan!
    For I will bring the calamity of Esau upon him,
    The time that I will punish him.

    Если придут к тебе собиратели винограда,
    разве не оставят они нескольких несобранных виноградин?
    Если ночью явятся воры,
    разве они не украдут лишь столько, сколько им нужно?

    If grape-gatherers came to you,
    Would they not leave some gleaning grapes?
    If thieves by night,
    Would they not destroy until they have enough?

    А Я донага оберу Исава,
    открою его тайные места,
    и он не сможет укрыться.
    Его дети, сородичи и соседи погибнут,
    и не станет его.

    But I have made Esau bare;
    I have uncovered his secret places,
    And he shall not be able to hide himself.
    His descendants are plundered,
    His brethren and his neighbors,
    And he is no more.

    Оставь своих сирот, Я защищу их;
    твои вдовы могут надеяться на Меня.

    Leave your fatherless children,
    I will preserve them alive;
    And let your widows trust in Me.”

    Так говорит Господь:
    — Если даже те, кто не заслужил пить из чаши, должны будут испить из нее, то уйдешь ли ты безнаказанным? Не уйдешь безнаказанным: непременно изопьешь до дна.

    For thus says the Lord: “Behold, those whose judgment was not to drink of the cup have assuredly drunk. And are you the one who will altogether go unpunished? You shall not go unpunished, but you shall surely drink of it.

    Клянусь Самим Собой, — возвещает Господь, — что ужасом, посмешищем, запустением и проклятием станет Боцра,155 а все ее города придут в вечное запустение.

    For I have sworn by Myself,” says the Lord, “that Bozrah shall become a desolation, a reproach, a [e]waste, and a curse. And all its cities shall be perpetual [f]wastes.”

    Я слышал от Господа весть,
    что посланник отправлен к народам сказать:
    «Сходитесь, чтобы напасть на него!
    Поднимайтесь на битву!»

    I have heard a message from the Lord,
    And an ambassador has been sent to the nations:
    “Gather together, come against her,
    And rise up to battle!

    — Я сделаю тебя малым среди народов,
    презренным среди людей.

    “For indeed, I will make you small among nations,
    Despised among men.
  • 16

    Страх, что внушаешь ты,
    и гордость сердца твоего обманули тебя,
    тебя, живущего среди расщелин скал,
    правителя вершин холмов.
    Хоть ты и вьешь себе гнездо высоко, как орел,
    но и оттуда Я низвергну тебя, —
    возвещает Господь. —

    Your fierceness has deceived you,
    The pride of your heart,
    O you who dwell in the clefts of the rock,
    Who hold the height of the hill!
    Though you make your nest as high as the eagle,
    I will bring you down from there,” says the Lord.

    Ужасом станет Эдом;
    каждый, кто пройдет мимо,
    ужаснется и поиздевается
    над всеми его ранами.

    “Edom also shall be an astonishment;
    Everyone who goes by it will be astonished
    And will hiss at all its plagues.
  • 18

    Как были низвергнуты Содом и Гоморра
    с окрестными городами, —
    возвещает Господь, —
    так никто не будет жить и там,
    ни один человек не поселится.

    As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah
    And their neighbors,” says the Lord,
    “No one shall remain there,
    Nor shall a son of man dwell in it.

    Словно лев, который выходит
    из иорданской чащи
    на роскошные пастбища,
    Я в мгновение ока изгоню Эдом из его земель
    и поставлю над ним того, кого изберу.
    Кто подобен Мне? Кто спросит с Меня?
    Какой правитель156 может противостоять Мне?

    “Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the [g]floodplain of the Jordan
    Against the dwelling place of the strong;
    But I will suddenly make him run away from her.
    And who is a chosen man that I may appoint over her?
    For who is like Me?
    Who will arraign Me?
    And who is that shepherd
    Who will withstand Me?”

    Слушайте же замысел Господа об Эдоме
    и намерения, которые Он задумал
    против жителей Темана:
    молодняк отар будет угнан прочь,
    и погубит Он их пастбища.

    Therefore hear the counsel of the Lord that He has taken against Edom,
    And His purposes that He has proposed against the inhabitants of Teman:
    Surely the least of the flock shall [h]draw them out;
    Surely He shall make their dwelling places desolate with them.

    От шума их падения вздрогнет земля;
    их крик будет слышен у Красного моря.

    The earth shakes at the noise of their fall;
    At the cry its noise is heard at the Red Sea.

    Он, как орел, поднимется и налетит,
    простирая крылья свои над Боцрой.
    В тот день сердца воинов Эдома затрепещут,
    словно сердце роженицы.

    Behold, He shall come up and fly like the eagle,
    And spread His wings over Bozrah;
    The heart of the mighty men of Edom in that day shall be
    Like the heart of a woman in birth pangs.

    О Дамаске:

    — Пали духом Хамат и Арпад,
    услышав плохие вести;
    мечутся от страха, тревожатся, словно море,157
    и покоя себе не находят.

    Judgment on Damascus

    Against Damascus.
    “Hamath and Arpad are shamed,
    For they have heard bad news.
    They are fainthearted;
    There is [i]trouble on the sea;
    It cannot be quiet.

    Дамаск обессилел,
    повернулся, чтобы бежать,
    охватил его страх;
    пронзили его муки и боль,
    боль, как у женщины в родах.

    Damascus has grown feeble;
    She turns to flee,
    And fear has seized her.
    Anguish and sorrows have taken her like a woman in [j]labor.

    Разве не брошен город прославленный,
    город Моей радости?

    Why is the city of praise not deserted, the city of My joy?

    Итак, его юноши падут от меча на улицах;
    все его воины умолкнут в тот день, —
    возвещает Господь Сил. —

    Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets,
    And all the men of war shall be cut off in that day,” says the Lord of hosts.

    Я зажгу огонь на стенах Дамаска;
    он пожрет крепости Венадада.158

    “I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus,
    And it shall consume the palaces of Ben-Hadad.”

    О Кедаре и царствах Хацора,159 куда вторгся Навуходоносор, царь Вавилона.
    Так говорит Господь:

    — Вставайте, идите против Кедара!
    Губите народ Востока!

    Judgment on Kedar and Hazor

    Against Kedar and against the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon shall strike.
    Thus says the Lord:
    “Arise, go up to Kedar,
    And devastate the men of the East!

    Их шатры и стада отберут у них;
    их завесы, и все добро,
    и верблюды будут отняты.
    Им будут кричать:
    «Ужас со всех сторон!»

    Their tents and their flocks they shall take away.
    They shall take for themselves their curtains,
    All their vessels and their camels;
    And they shall cry out to them,
    ‘Fear is on every side!’

    Бегите скорее!
    Селитесь в глубоких пещерах,
    жители Хацора, —
    возвещает Господь. —
    Царь Вавилона Навуходоносор
    принял о вас решение
    и обдумал свой замысел о вас.

    “Flee, get far away! Dwell in the depths,
    O inhabitants of Hazor!” says the Lord.
    “For Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has taken counsel against you,
    And has conceived a plan against you.

    Вставайте, идите против беспечного народа,
    который живет беззаботно, —
    возвещает Господь, —
    у которого нет ни дверей, ни засовов,
    против народа, который живет отдельно.

    “Arise, go up to the wealthy nation that dwells securely,” says the Lord,
    “Which has neither gates nor bars,
    Dwelling alone.

    Их верблюды станут чужой добычей,
    и множество их стад будет расхищено.
    Я развею по всем ветрам
    тех, кто стрижет волосы на висках,
    и со всех сторон пошлю на них гибель, —
    возвещает Господь. —

    Their camels shall be for booty,
    And the multitude of their cattle for plunder.
    I will scatter to all winds those [k]in the farthest corners,
    And I will bring their calamity from all its sides,” says the Lord.

    Хацор превратится в логово шакалов,
    запустеет навеки,
    и никто не будет в нем жить,
    ни один человек не поселится.

    “Hazor shall be a dwelling for jackals, a desolation forever;
    No one shall reside there,
    Nor son of man dwell in it.”

    Judgment on Elam

    The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah the prophet against Elam, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,

    Так говорит Господь Сил:

    — Я сломаю лук Елама,
    опору его могущества.

    “Thus says the Lord of hosts:
    ‘Behold, I will break the [l]bow of Elam,
    The foremost of their might.

    Я пошлю на Елам четыре ветра
    с четырех краев небес;
    Я развею его по четырем ветрам
    и не будет такого народа,
    к которому не пошли бы изгнанники-еламиты.

    Against Elam I will bring the four winds
    From the four quarters of heaven,
    And scatter them toward all those winds;
    There shall be no nations where the outcasts of Elam will not go.

    Я разобью Елам перед его неприятелями,
    перед теми, кто желает его смерти;
    Я нашлю на него беду
    и даже Мой пылающий гнев, —
    возвещает Господь. —
    Я буду преследовать их мечом,
    пока не истреблю их окончательно.

    For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies
    And before those who seek their life.
    I will bring disaster upon them,
    My fierce anger,’ says the Lord;
    ‘And I will send the sword after them
    Until I have consumed them.

    Я поставлю в Еламе Свой престол
    и погублю его царя и приближенных, —
    возвещает Господь. —

    I will set My throne in Elam,
    And will destroy from there the king and the princes,’ says the Lord.

    Но в будущем Я верну Еламу благополучие, —
    возвещает Господь.

    ‘But it shall come to pass in the latter days:
    I will bring back the captives of Elam,’ says the Lord.”
