The Sermon on the Mount

And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:

And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

— Блаженны нищие духом, потому что им принадлежит Небесное Царство.23

The Beatitudes

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Блаженны плачущие, потому что они будут утешены.

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

5

Блаженны кроткие, потому что они наследуют землю.

Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

6

Блаженны те, кто ощущает голод и жажду по праведности, потому что они насытятся.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

7

Блаженны милосердные, потому что и к ним будет проявлено милосердие.

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

Блаженны чистые сердцем, потому что они увидят Бога.

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Блаженны миротворцы, потому что они будут названы сынами Божьими.

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

Блаженны те, кого преследуют за праведность, потому что Небесное Царство принадлежит им.

Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Блаженны вы, когда из-за Меня люди оскорбляют и преследуют вас и говорят о вас всякую ложь.

Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

12

Ликуйте и веселитесь, потому что вас ждет великая награда на небесах! Ведь точно так же преследовали и пророков, бывших прежде вас.

Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

13

Вы — соль земли. Если соль потеряет свой вкус, то что может опять сделать ее соленой? Она уже ни к чему не пригодна, останется лишь выбросить ее вон, под ноги людям.

Salt and Light

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

14

Вы — свет мира. Город, стоящий на вершине холма, невозможно скрыть.

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15

Зажженный светильник не ставят под сосуд, наоборот, его ставят на подставку, чтобы светил всем в доме.

Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16

Пусть так же свет ваш светит людям, чтобы они видели ваши добрые дела и славили вашего Небесного Отца.

16

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

17

Не думайте, что Я пришел отменить Закон или пророков; Я пришел, чтобы исполнить, а не отменить.24

Jesus Fulfills the Law

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18

Говорю вам истину: пока небо и земля не исчезнут, ни одна малейшая буква, ни одна черточка не исчезнет из Закона — все сбудется.

18

For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

19

Кто нарушит даже самую маленькую заповедь и научит других нарушать ее, тот в Небесном Царстве будет наименьшим, а кто исполнит заповеди и научит этому людей — будет велик в Царстве Небесном.

Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

20

Говорю вам, что если ваша праведность не превзойдет праведности фарисеев и учителей Закона, вы не войдете в Небесное Царство.

20

For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

21

Вы знаете, что людям еще в древности было сказано: «Не убивай»,25 и что каждый убийца будет судим.

Anger and Reconciliation

Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:

22

Я же говорю вам, что если человек затаил злобу на брата, он будет судим. Кто назовет своего брата ничтожеством,26 тот будет отвечать перед Высшим Советом, а того, кто обзовет своего брата глупцом, — ждет огонь ада.

But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

23

Поэтому если ты приносишь в дар Богу свою жертву и перед жертвенником вспомнишь, что твой брат обижен на тебя,

Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;

24

то оставь свой дар перед жертвенником и пойди вначале помирись с братом, а потом приходи и приноси жертву.

24

Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

25

Поторопись помириться со своим обвинителем еще по дороге, до того, как он приведет тебя в суд, иначе тебя передадут судье, тот отдаст тебя под стражу, и тебя заключат в темницу.

Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

26

Говорю тебе истину, что ты не выйдешь оттуда, пока не выплатишь все, до последнего гроша.

Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.

27

Вы слышали, что было сказано: «Не нарушай супружескую верность».27

Adultery

Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

28

Я же говорю вам, что тот, кто лишь смотрит на женщину с вожделением, уже нарушил супружескую верность в своем сердце.

But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

29

Если твой правый глаз влечет тебя ко греху, вырви его и отбрось прочь. Лучше тебе потерять часть тела, чем всему телу быть брошенным в ад.

29

And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

30

И если твоя правая рука влечет тебя ко греху, то отсеки ее и отбрось прочь. Лучше тебе потерять часть тела, чем все твое тело пойдет в ад.

And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

Вам было сказано: «Кто разводится с женой, тот должен выдать ей разводное письмо».28

Divorce

It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:

32

Я же говорю вам, что каждый, кто разводится со своей женой не по причине ее измены, толкает ее к нарушению супружеской верности,29 и всякий, кто женится на разведенной женщине, также нарушает супружескую верность.

But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

33

Вы слышали, что еще в древности людям было сказано: «Не нарушайте своей клятвы и выполняйте все, в чем вы поклялись Господу».30

Vows

Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:

34

Я же говорю вам: не клянитесь вовсе. Не клянитесь ни небом, потому что оно — престол Божий,

But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:

35

ни землей, потому что она — подножие Его, ни Иерусалимом, потому что это город великого Царя.31

35

Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.

36

Не клянись своей головой, потому что сам ты даже одного волоска не можешь сделать белым или черным.

36

Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.

37

Пусть ваше «да» будет действительно «да» и ваше «нет» — действительно «нет». Все же, что к этому добавлено, — от лукавого.

37

But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

38

Вы слышали, что было сказано: «Глаз за глаз и зуб за зуб».32

Love Your Enemies

Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

39

Я же говорю вам: не мсти сделавшему тебе зло. Кто ударит тебя в правую щеку, то поверни к нему и другую.

39

But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

40

Если кто захочет с тобой судиться, чтобы отнять у тебя рубаху, то отдай ему и верхнюю одежду.

40

And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.

41

Если же кто принудит тебя идти вместе с ним одну милю, иди две.33

41

And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

42

Тому же, кто у тебя просит, дай, и от просящего у тебя в долг не отворачивайся.

42

Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

43

Вы слышали, что было сказано: «Люби ближнего твоего»34 и «Ненавидь врага твоего».35

Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

44

Я же говорю вам: любите ваших врагов и молитесь о тех, кто преследует вас,

44

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

45

чтобы вам быть истинными сынами вашего Небесного Отца. Ведь Он повелевает солнцу светить и злым, и добрым и посылает дождь как на праведных, так и на неправедных.

That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

46

Если вы любите тех, кто любит вас, то какая вам за это награда? Не делают ли то же самое даже сборщики налогов?36

46

For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

47

Если вы приветствуете только ваших братьев, то что в этом особенного? Разве язычники не делают того же?

And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

48

Поэтому будьте совершенны, как совершенен ваш Небесный Отец.

48

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
