Peter Reports to the Church at Jerusalem
And the apostles and brethren that were in Judaea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.

And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him,
— Ты ходил к необрезанным и ел с ними, — говорили они.
Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them.
Тогда Петр начал подробно объяснять им, как все произошло.
But Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning, and expounded it by order unto them, saying,
— Я был в городе Яффе и молился, — сказал он, — и в это время у меня было видение: нечто вроде большого полотна, которое за четыре конца спускалось с неба прямо туда, где я находился.
I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me:
Заглянув в него, я увидел четвероногих животных и зверей, пресмыкающихся и птиц.
Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
Потом я услышал голос, который говорил мне: «Встань, Петр, заколи и ешь».
And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat.
Я же ответил: «Ни в коем случае, Господи! Никогда я не брал в рот ничего оскверненного или нечистого».
But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth.
Голос с неба сказал мне во второй раз: «Не называй нечистым то, что Бог очистил».
But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
Так повторялось три раза, и затем полотно было опять поднято на небо.
And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven.
В тот же момент у дома, где я находился, остановились три человека, посланные ко мне из Кесарии.
And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me.
Дух велел мне идти с ними, не раздумывая. Вот эти шесть братьев тоже пошли со мной, и мы пришли в дом того, кто меня позвал.
And the spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man's house:
Он рассказал нам о том, как он видел у себя ангела. Ангел сказал ему: «Пошли людей в Яффу за Симоном, которого называют Петром,
And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter;
и он расскажет вам о том, как ты и все твои домашние будете спасены».
Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.
Когда я начал говорить, на них сошел Святой Дух так же, как Он сошел вначале и на нас.
And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.
Тогда я вспомнил слова Господа: «Иоанн крестил водой, а вы будете крещены Святым Духом».
Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
Поэтому, если Бог дал им тот же дар, что и нам, поверившим в Господа Иисуса Христа, то кто я такой, чтобы препятствовать Богу?
Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?
Когда они это выслушали, у них не осталось больше возражений, и они прославили Бога, говоря:
— Значит, Бог дал покаяние и язычникам, чтобы они получили жизнь!

When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.
А верующие, рассеянные гонением, которое началось из-за Стефана, дошли до Финикии, Кипра и Антиохии, проповедуя только иудеям.
The Church at Antioch
Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only.

Однако некоторые из них, уроженцы Кипра и Кирены, пришли в Антиохию и начали рассказывать Радостную Весть о Господе Иисусе также и грекам.72
And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus.
Рука Господня была с ними, и очень многие поверили и обратились к Господу.
And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.
Весть об этом дошла и до церкви в Иерусалиме. Оттуда послали в Антиохию Варнаву.
Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch.
Когда Варнава прибыл и увидел милость Божью, он обрадовался и убеждал всех оставаться в своих сердцах верными Господу.
Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.
Варнава был добрым человеком, полным Святого Духа и веры, и множество людей пришло к вере в Господа.
For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.
Затем Варнава пошел в Тарс, чтобы разыскать там Савла.
Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul:
И когда он нашел его, то привел его в Антиохию. Целый год они оставались в антиохийской церкви и учили множество народа. Именно в Антиохии учеников стали впервые называть христианами.
And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
В это время из Иерусалима в Антиохию пришли несколько пророков.
And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.
Один из них, по имени Агав, встал и Духом предсказал, что по всей земле будет страшный голод, что и случилось во время правления Клавдия.73
And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.
Поэтому ученики решили послать помощь братьям, живущим в Иудее, каждый по своим возможностям.
Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea:
