И отвечали все мужи Иудины Израильтянам: затем, что царь ближний нам; и из-за чего сердиться вам на это? Разве мы что-нибудь съели у царя или получили от него подарки?

И ответил народ Иудеи: "Мы сделали это потому, что царь — наш близкий родственник. Почему вы сердитесь на нас за это? Мы не питались за счет царя, и он не давал нам подарков". -
Все иудеи отвечали израильтянам:
— Мы сделали это потому, что царь нам кровный родственник. Почему вы злитесь из-за этого? Разве мы съели что-нибудь из царских запасов? Разве мы получили от него подарки? -
Та прийшли всі мужі ізраїльські до царя й питають царя: “Чому наші брати, мужі Юди, викрали тебе й переправили через Йордан царя й увесь його дім та й усіх людей Давида з ним?”

And all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, Because the king is near of kin to us: wherefore then be ye angry for this matter? have we eaten at all of the king's cost? or hath he given us any gift?

І ось кожний чоловік Ізраїля прийшов до царя, і вони сказали цареві: Як це тебе вкрали наші брати, кожний чоловік Юди, і вони перевели царя і його сім’ю через Йордан, і з ним — усіх мужів Давида?

Аж ось усі ізра́їльтяни прийшли до царя. І сказали вони цареві: „Чому вкрали тебе наші браття, люди Юдині, і перепрова́дили царя та його дім через Йордан, та всіх Давидових людей з ним?

The men of Judah replied, “The king is one of our own kinsmen. Why should this make you angry? We haven’t eaten any of the king’s food or received any special favors!”
