Zophar Rebukes Job
Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,

разве на множество слов нельзя дать ответа, и разве человек многоречивый прав?
Should not the multitude of words be answered? and should a man full of talk be justified?
Пустословие твоё заставит ли молчать мужей, чтобы ты глумился, и некому было постыдить тебя?
Should thy lies make men hold their peace? and when thou mockest, shall no man make thee ashamed?
Ты сказал: «суждение моё верно, и чист я в очах Твоих».
For thou hast said, My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in thine eyes.
Но если бы Бог возглаголал и отверз уста Свои к тебе
But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against thee;
и открыл тебе тайны премудрости, что тебе вдвое больше следовало бы понести! Итак, знай, что Бог для тебя некоторые из беззаконий твоих предал забвению.
And that he would shew thee the secrets of wisdom, that they are double to that which is! Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thine iniquity deserveth.
Можешь ли ты исследованием найти Бога? Можешь ли совершенно постигнуть Вседержителя?
Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection?
Он превыше небес, — что можешь сделать? глубже преисподней, — что можешь узнать?
It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know?
Длиннее земли мера Его и шире моря.
The measure thereof is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.
Если Он пройдёт и заключит кого в оковы и представит на суд, то кто отклонит Его?
If he cut off, and shut up, or gather together, then who can hinder him?
Ибо Он знает людей лживых и видит беззаконие, и оставит ли его без внимания?
For he knoweth vain men: he seeth wickedness also; will he not then consider it?
Но пустой человек мудрствует, хотя человек рождается подобно дикому ослёнку.
For vain man would be wise, though man be born like a wild ass's colt.
Если ты управишь сердце твоё и прострёшь к Нему руки твои,
If thou prepare thine heart, and stretch out thine hands toward him;
и если есть порок в руке твоей, а ты удалишь его и не дашь беззаконию обитать в шатрах твоих,
If iniquity be in thine hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy tabernacles.
то поднимешь незапятнанное лицо твоё и будешь твёрд и не будешь бояться.
For then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; yea, thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not fear:
Тогда забудешь горе: как о воде протёкшей, будешь вспоминать о нём.
Because thou shalt forget thy misery, and remember it as waters that pass away:
И яснее полдня пойдёт жизнь твоя; просветлеешь, как утро.
And thine age shall be clearer than the noonday; thou shalt shine forth, thou shalt be as the morning.
И будешь спокоен, ибо есть надежда; ты ограждён, и можешь спать безопасно.
And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt dig about thee, and thou shalt take thy rest in safety.
Будешь лежать, и не будет устрашающего, и многие будут заискивать у тебя.
Also thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid; yea, many shall make suit unto thee.
