Titus 1

Павел, раб Божий, Апостол же Иисуса Христа, по вере избранных Божиих и познанию истины, относящейся к благочестию,

Greeting

Paul, a servanta of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the sake of the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth, which accords with godliness,

в надежде вечной жизни, которую обещал неизменный в слове Бог прежде вековых времён,

in hope of eternal life, which God, who never lies, promised before the ages beganb

а в своё время явил Своё слово в проповеди, вверенной мне по повелению Спасителя нашего, Бога, —

and at the proper time manifested in his wordc through the preaching with which I have been entrusted by the command of God our Savior;

Титу, истинному сыну по общей вере: благодать, милость и мир от Бога Отца и Господа Иисуса Христа, Спасителя нашего.

To Titus, my true child in a common faith:
Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.

Для того я оставил тебя в Крите, чтобы ты довершил недоконченное и поставил по всем городам пресвитеров, как я тебе приказывал:

Qualifications for Elders

This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might put what remained into order, and appoint elders in every town as I directed you —

если кто непорочен, муж одной жены, детей имеет верных, не укоряемых в распутстве или непокорности.

if anyone is above reproach, the husband of one wife,d and his children are believerse and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination.

Ибо епископ должен быть непорочен, как Божий домостроитель, не дерзок, не гневлив, не пьяница, не бийца, не корыстолюбец,

For an overseer,f as God’s steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain,

но страннолюбив, любящий добро, целомудрен, справедлив, благочестив, воздержан,

but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined.

держащийся истинного слова, согласного с учением, чтобы он был силён и наставлять в здравом учении, и противящихся обличать.

He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in soundg doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.

Ибо есть много и непокорных, пустословов и обманщиков, особенно из обрезанных,

For there are many who are insubordinate, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision party.h

каковым должно заграждать уста: они развращают целые домы, уча, чему не должно, из постыдной корысти.

They must be silenced, since they are upsetting whole families by teaching for shameful gain what they ought not to teach.

Из них же самих один стихотворец сказал: «Критяне всегда лжецы, злые звери, утробы ленивые».

One of the Cretans,i a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.”j

Свидетельство это справедливо. По сей причине обличай их строго, дабы они были здравы в вере,

This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith,

не внимая Иудейским басням и постановлениям людей, отвращающихся от истины.

not devoting themselves to Jewish myths and the commands of people who turn away from the truth.

Для чистых всё чисто; а для осквернённых и неверных нет ничего чистого, но осквернены и ум их и совесть.

To the pure, all things are pure, but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their minds and their consciences are defiled.

Они говорят, что знают Бога, а делами отрекаются, будучи гнусны и непокорны и не способны ни к какому доброму делу.

They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work.
