Давид говорил своим людям: "Я надеюсь, Господь не даст мне ещё раз сделать подобное своему господину. Саул — избранный Господом царь. Я не должен поднимать руку на Саула, потому что он помазанник Господа!" -
После этого Давида стала мучить совесть за то, что он отрезал край верхней одежды Саула.

And he said unto his men, The LORD forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the LORD'S anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the LORD.
