And they journeyed from Elim, and the whole assembly of the children of Israel came into the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departure out of the land of Egypt.

And the whole assembly of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness.
"Лучше было бы, если бы Господь просто убил нас в земле Египетской, — говорили они. — Там, по крайней мере, у нас было вдоволь еды, столько, сколько нам было нужно. Теперь же ты привёл нас в эту пустыню, и мы тут все умрём с голоду".
And the children of Israel said to them, Would that we had died by the hand of Jehovah in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh-pots, when we ate bread to the full; for ye have brought us out into this wilderness, to kill this whole congregation with hunger!
Тогда Господь сказал Моисею: "Я сделаю так, что с неба вам станет падать хлеб, чтобы вам было, что есть. Пусть люди каждый день выходят и собирают сколько нужно на день. Я сделаю это, чтобы посмотреть, будут ли они поступать, как Я им велел.
Then said Jehovah to Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather the daily need on its day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or not.
Пусть люди каждый день собирают еды только на один день. В пятницу же, приготовляя еду, они увидят, что её хватит на два дня".
And it shall come to pass on the sixth day, that they shall prepare what they have brought in; and it shall be twice as much as they shall gather daily.
Моисей и Аарон сказали израильскому народу: "Сегодня вы увидите, как силён Господь, узнаете, что Он — Тот, Кто вывел вас из Египта.
And Moses and Aaron said to all the children of Israel, In the evening, then shall ye know that Jehovah has brought you out from the land of Egypt;
Вы роптали против Господа, и Он услышал вас, и потому завтра утром вы увидите славу Господнюю. Вы беспрестанно роптали против нас, так может теперь нам будет покой".
and in the morning, then shall ye see the glory of Jehovah; for he has heard your murmurings against Jehovah; -- and what are we, that ye murmur against us?
И ещё сказал Моисей: "Вы роптали, и Господь услышал ваш ропот, поэтому сегодня ночью Господь даст вам мясо, а утром вы получите столько хлеба, сколько вам нужно. Вы роптали против меня и Аарона, так может теперь нам будет покой. Помните, что ропот ваш не на нас, а на Господа".
And Moses said, When Jehovah gives you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for Jehovah hears your murmurings which ye murmur against him ... and what [are] we? your murmurings are not against us, but against Jehovah.
И сказал Моисей Аарону: "Поговори со всем народом Израиля и скажи им: "Предстаньте перед Господом, ибо Он услышал ваш ропот"".
And Moses spoke to Aaron, Say to all the assembly of the children of Israel, Come near into the presence of Jehovah; for he has heard your murmurings.
Весь народ Израилев собрался в одном месте, и Аарон говорил с народом, и когда он говорил, все повернулись и посмотрели на пустыню, и увидели славу Господнюю, явившуюся им в облаке.
And it came to pass, when Aaron spoke to the whole assembly of the children of Israel, that they turned toward the wilderness, and behold, the glory of Jehovah appeared in the cloud.
"Я слышал ропот израильского народа, так скажи им: "Сегодня вечером будете есть мясо, а утром будете есть хлеб, сколько захотите, и тогда вы узнаете, что можете довериться Господу, Богу вашему"".
I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak to them, saying, Between the two evenings ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I am Jehovah your God.
В тот вечер налетели на стан перепела, а к утру землю вокруг стана покрыла роса.
And it came to pass in the evening, that quails came up, and covered the camp; and in the morning the dew lay round the camp.
Когда же роса поднялась, под ней на земле осталось нечто подобное тонким хлопьям инея.
And when the dew that lay [round it] was gone up, behold, on the face of the wilderness there was [something] fine, granular, fine as hoar-frost, on the ground.
Увидев это, израильтяне стали спрашивать друг друга: "Что это такое?, ибо они не знали, что это было. Тогда Моисей сказал им: "Это — хлеб, который вам посылает Господь.
And the children of Israel saw [it], and said one to another, What is it? for they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, This is the bread which Jehovah has given you to eat.
Господь говорит, что каждый должен набрать столько, сколько ему нужно; каждый из вас должен набрать по корзине на каждого человека в семье".
This is the thing which Jehovah has commanded: Gather of it every man according to what he can eat, an omer a poll, [according to] the number of your persons: ye shall take every man for those that are in his tent.
Народ Израиля так и сделал — каждый набрал себе хлеба, одни больше, другие меньше.
And the children of Israel did so, and gathered, some much, some little.
Люди накормили всех, кто был у них в семье, и когда мерили, то всегда хватало на всех, лишнего же никогда не оставалось. Каждый набирал ровно столько, сколько нужно было ему и его семейству.
And they measured with the omer: then he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little wanted nothing: they had gathered every man according to the measure of his eating.
"Не оставляйте ничего до утра", — сказал им Моисей.
And Moses said to them, Let no man leave [any] of it until the morning.
Но люди не послушали его; некоторые оставили еду на следующий день, в ней завелись черви, и она стала смердеть. И рассердился на них Моисей.
But they did not hearken to Moses; and some men left of it until the morning; then worms bred in it and it stank. And Moses was wroth with them.
Каждое утро люди набирали хлеба, каждый столько, сколько мог съесть; к полудню же еда таяла.
And they gathered it every morning, every man as much as he could eat; and when the sun became hot, it melted.
В пятницу люди набрали еды вдвое больше, по две корзины на каждого; и предводители народа пришли и рассказали об этом Моисею.
The Sabbath Observed
And it came to pass on the sixth day, that they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one; and all the princes of the assembly came and told Moses.

Он сказал им: "Так было угодно Богу, это случилось потому, что завтра суббота, особый день отдыха в честь Господа. Сегодня приготовьте столько еды, сколько надо, а то, что останется, сберегите до утра".
And he said to them, This is what Jehovah has said: To-morrow is the rest, the holy sabbath, of Jehovah: bake what ye will bake, and cook what ye will cook; and lay up for yourselves all that remains over, to be kept for the morning.
И люди сберегли всё, что осталось, до следующего дня, и оно не испортилось, и черви в нём не завелись.
And they laid it up for the morning, as Moses had commanded; and it did not stink, neither was there any worm in it.
В субботу Моисей сказал народу: "Сегодня суббота, особый день отдыха в честь Господа, поэтому пусть никто из вас не выходит в поле. Ешьте то, что собрали вчера.
And Moses said, Eat it to-day; for to-day is sabbath to Jehovah: to-day ye shall not find it in the field.
Собирайте шесть дней, седьмой же день — день отдыха, поэтому этого особого xлеба на земле не будет".
Six days shall ye gather it; but on the seventh day is sabbath: on it there shall be none.
Но некоторые всё-таки пошли собирать в субботу и ничего не нашли.
And it came to pass on the seventh day that there went out [some] from the people to gather [it], and they found none.
И сказал тогда Господь Моисею: "Долго ли ещё вы будете отказываться следовать Моим наказам и наставлениям?
And Jehovah said to Moses, How long do ye refuse to keep my commandments and my laws?
Послушайте, Господь сделал для вас субботу днём отдыха, и потому по пятницам будет посылать вам столько хлеба, сколько нужно на два дня. Поэтому в субботу каждый из вас должен сесть и отдыхать. Оставайтесь каждый у себя".
See, for Jehovah hath given you the sabbath; therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread for two days. Abide every man in his place: let no man go from his place on the seventh day.
Люди стали называть эту особую еду манной. Это были мелкие белые зёрна, подобные кориандровому семени, а по вкусу манна напоминала тонкие лепёшки с мёдом.
And the house of Israel called its name Manna; and it was like coriander-seed, white; and the taste of it was like cake with honey.
Моисей сказал: "Господь повелел: "Сохраните по 8 чашек этой еды для ваших потомков, и тогда они увидят, чем Я кормил вас в пустыне, когда вывел вас из Египта"".
And Moses said, This is the thing which Jehovah has commanded: Fill an omer of it to be kept for your generations; that they may see the bread that I gave you to eat in the wilderness, when I brought you out of the land of Egypt.
И сказал Моисей Аарону: "Возьми кувшин, насыпь туда восемь чашек манны и сохрани, чтобы поставить её перед Господом, сохрани для наших потомков".
And Moses said to Aaron, Take a pot, and put in it an omer full of manna, and deposit it before Jehovah, to be kept for your generations.
Аарон сделал так, как Бог повелел Моисею: поставил кувшин с манной перед соглашением.
As Jehovah had commanded Moses, so Aaron deposited it before the Testimony, to be kept.
Народ ел манну 40 лет, пока не пришёл в землю отдыха, пока не пришли они к границе земли Ханаанской.
And the children of Israel ate the manna forty years, until they came into an inhabited land: they ate the manna until they came to the borders of the land of Canaan.
