In the third month after the departure of the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they [into] the wilderness of Sinai:

they departed from Rephidim, and came [into] the wilderness of Sinai, and encamped in the wilderness; and Israel encamped there before the mountain.
Моисей поднялся на гору, чтобы встретиться с Богом, и Бог обратился к нему на горе, говоря: "Скажи израильскому народу, великому семейству Иакова:
And Moses went up to God, and Jehovah called to him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel:
"Вы видели, что Я могу сделать с Моими врагами, видели, что Я сделал с народом Египта, видели, как Я, словно орёл, вынес вас из Египта и принёс сюда, ко Мне.
Ye have seen what I have done to the Egyptians, and [how] I have borne you on eagles' wings and brought you to myself.
Теперь же Я говорю вам: исполняйте Мои заповеди, соблюдайте соглашение со Мной и будете Моим особым народом.
And now, if ye will hearken to my voice indeed and keep my covenant, then shall ye be my own possession out of all the peoples -- for all the earth is mine --
Вы будете особым народом — царством священников. Моисей, ты должен передать израильскому народу то, что Я сказал"".
and ye shall be to me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak to the children of Israel.
И вот Моисей спустился с горы и созвал всех старейшин народа, и передал им всё, что повелел ему Господь.
And Moses came and called the elders of the people, and laid before the mall these words which Jehovah had commanded him.
И весь народ ответил в один голос: "Мы исполним всё, что говорит Господь". Тогда Моисей возвратился к Богу на гору и сказал, что люди будут послушны Ему.
And all the people answered together, and said, All that Jehovah has spoken will we do! And Moses brought the words of the people back to Jehovah.
Господь сказал Моисею: "Я приду к тебе в густом облаке и буду говорить с тобой, чтобы народ услышал, как Я говорю с тобой, и поверил тебе навсегда". И тут Моисей рассказал Богу обо всём, что говорили люди.
And Jehovah said to Moses, Lo, I will come to thee in the cloud's thick darkness, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee also for ever. And Moses told the words of the people to Jehovah.
Господь сказал Моисею: "Сегодня и завтра ты должен подготовить народ к особой встрече. Пусть люди выстирают свои одежды
And Jehovah said to Moses, Go to the people, and hallow them to-day and to-morrow, and let them wash their clothes;
и на третий день пусть будут готовы к Моему появлению: на третий день Господь сойдёт на гору Синай, и весь народ увидит Меня.
and let them be ready for the third day; for on the third day Jehovah will come down before the eyes of all the people on mount Sinai.
Ты же должен сказать народу, чтобы они держались подальше от горы, проведи черту и не разрешай им пересекать её. Всякий, кто прикоснётся к горе будет убит.
And set bounds round about the people, saying, Take heed to yourselves, [not] to go up unto the mountain nor touch the border of it: whatever toucheth the mountain shall certainly be put to death:
Всякий, кто прикоснётся к горе, должен быть убит, забит камнями или пронзён стрелами, и пусть никто не прикасается к нему. Народ должен дождаться, пока прозвучит труба, только тогда они могут подняться на гору".
not a hand shall touch it, but it shall certainly be stoned, or shot through; whether it be a beast or a man, it shall not live. When the long drawn note of the trumpet soundeth, they shall come up to the mountain.
И вот Моисей спустился с горы, пошёл к народу, чтобы подготовить их к особой встрече, и они выстирали свои одежды.
And Moses came down from the mountain to the people, and hallowed the people; and they washed their clothes.
И сказал тогда Моисей народу: "Подготовьтесь к встрече с Богом через три дня; до этого времени мужчины не должны прикасаться к женщинам".
And he said to the people, Be ready for the third day; do not come near [your] wives.
На утро третьего дня на гору опустилось густое облако, гремел гром, сверкала молния и раздавался оглушительный звук трубы, и испугался народ в стане.
And it came to pass on the third day, when it was morning, that there were thunders and lightnings and a heavy cloud on the mountain, and the sound of the trumpet exceeding loud; and the whole people that was in the camp trembled.
Тогда Моисей вывел народ из стана к месту около горы для встречи с Богом.
And Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the foot of the mountain.
Гора Синай была скрыта в дыму, поднимавшемся от её вершины, словно дым из печи, ибо Господь сошёл на гору в огне, и вся гора сотрясалась.
The Lord Visits Sinai
And the whole of mount Sinai smoked, because Jehovah descended on it in fire; and its smoke ascended as the smoke of a furnace; and the whole mountain shook greatly.

Трубный звук становился всё громче и громче, и всякий раз, когда Моисей обращался к Богу, Бог отвечал ему громоподобным голосом.
And the sound of the trumpet increased and became exceeding loud; Moses spoke, and God answered him by a voice.
И сошёл Господь на гору Синай, сошёл с небес на вершину горы и призвал Моисея, чтобы тот поднялся к Нему на вершину, и Моисей взошёл на гору.
And Jehovah came down on mount Sinai, on the top of the mountain; and Jehovah called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.
Господь сказал Моисею: "Сойди вниз и предупреди народ, чтобы они не приближались и не смотрели на Меня, чтобы многим из них не умереть.
And Jehovah said to Moses, Go down, testify to the people that they break not through to Jehovah to gaze, and many of them perish.
Скажи также священникам, которые приблизятся ко Мне, что они должны подготовиться к этой особой встрече, чтобы Я их не поразил".
And the priests also, who come near to Jehovah, shall hallow themselves, lest Jehovah break forth on them.
"Но народ ведь не может подняться на гору, — сказал Моисей. — Ты ведь Сам предупредил нас, чтобы мы провели черту и не разрешали людям переступать через неё на святую землю".
And Moses said to Jehovah, The people cannot come up to mount Sinai; for thou hast testified to us, saying, Set bounds about the mountain, and hallow it.
"Спустись вниз к народу, — ответил ему Господь, — и приведи сюда Аарона. Народ же и священники пусть не подходят ко Мне, иначе Я накажу их, если они подойдут слишком близко".
And Jehovah said to him, Go, descend, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee; but the priests and the people shall not break through to go up to Jehovah, lest he break forth on them.
