"Народы Иудеи плачут по умершим своим, в городах Иудеи люди лежат на земле от слабости, в Иерусалиме люди молят о помощи Божьей.
Judah mourneth, and the gates thereof languish; they are black unto the ground; and the cry of Jerusalem is gone up.
Властители шлют за водою слуг — идут к колодцам слуги, но в них нет воды; они назад приходят ни с чем и от стыда покрывают головы свои.
And their nobles have sent their little ones to the waters: they came to the pits, and found no water; they returned with their vessels empty; they were ashamed and confounded, and covered their heads.
Никто не готовит землю к севу. Не выпало дождя на землю. Земледельцы в отчаянии покрывают свои головы.
Because the ground is chapt, for there was no rain in the earth, the plowmen were ashamed, they covered their heads.
Даже олениха дитя своё оставляет, потому что нет травы.
Yea, the hind also calved in the field, and forsook it, because there was no grass.
Дикие ослы, стоя на голых холмах, нюхают воздух, словно шакалы, но нигде не видно травы".
And the wild asses did stand in the high places, they snuffed up the wind like dragons; their eyes did fail, because there was no grass.
"Мы знаем, что всё это — наша вина, мы страдаем от наших грехов. Господи, чем-нибудь нам помоги ради имени Твоего. Да, мы Тебя покидали не раз и не раз грешили против Тебя.
O LORD, though our iniquities testify against us, do thou it for thy name's sake: for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against thee.
Господь, Ты наша надежда, Ты надежда Израиля, Ты от бед его спас. Неужели Ты чужой на этой земле, странник, который зашёл переночевать?
O the hope of Israel, the saviour thereof in time of trouble, why shouldest thou be as a stranger in the land, and as a wayfaring man that turneth aside to tarry for a night?
Ты — как человек, замерший от удивления. На солдата похож Ты, у которого нет сил никого спасти. Но Ты, Господи, с нами, мы к имени Твоему взываем, — не оставляй нас без помощи!"
Why shouldest thou be as a man astonied, as a mighty man that cannot save? yet thou, O LORD, art in the midst of us, and we are called by thy name; leave us not.
Вот что говорит Господь о народе Иудеи: "Эти люди действительно покинули Меня в помыслах своих и на этом не остановились, так что теперь Господь не примет их и будет помнить всё, что сделали они. Господь накажет их за все грехи".
Thus saith the LORD unto this people, Thus have they loved to wander, they have not refrained their feet, therefore the LORD doth not accept them; he will now remember their iniquity, and visit their sins.
И сказал мне Господь: "Иеремия, не молись об их благополучии.
Then said the LORD unto me, Pray not for this people for their good.
Даже если они будут поститься и молиться Мне, Я не услышу их молитвы. Даже если они воздадут Мне зерно и сожжённые жертвы, Я их не приму и уничтожу народ Иудеи. Я лишу их пищи, и они будут голодать. Я нашлю на них страшные болезни".
When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and an oblation, I will not accept them: but I will consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence.
Но я сказал Господу: "Господи, Боже мой, пророки говорили людям Иудеи, что они никогда не будут страдать от вражеских мечей или от голода, Господь даст вам мир на этой земле".
Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, the prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see the sword, neither shall ye have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.
Тогда Господь сказал мне: "Иеремия, те пророки проповедовали ложь именем Моим, не Я их посылал, не Я велел им говорить с народом — пророки эти молились ложным видениям и собственным догадкам.
Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.
Поэтому Я говорю о тех, кто проповедует именем Моим: Я их не посылал. Они сказали, что нет врагов с мечами, которые придут сюда, и что здесь вовеки не будет голода. Эти пророки умрут от голода и от меча.
Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that prophesy in my name, and I sent them not, yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land; By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed.
И люди, с которыми говорили эти пророки, будут выброшены на улицы и умрут от голода и от меча врагов. И некому будет похоронить их — не будет ни сыновей, ни дочерей, Я накажу их.
And the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword; and they shall have none to bury them, them, their wives, nor their sons, nor their daughters: for I will pour their wickedness upon them.
И передай, Иеремия, эту весть: "Глаза Мои наполнены слезами, Я буду плакать день и ночь, Я буду дочь Мою невинную оплакивать, Моих людей оплакивать Я буду, поскольку кто-то поразил их и причинил большую боль.
Therefore thou shalt say this word unto them; Let mine eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease: for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous blow.
Если Я пойду в страну, то увижу убитых мечами, если пойду в города, Я увижу болезни и голод. Пророки и священники уведены в чужие земли"".
If I go forth into the field, then behold the slain with the sword! and if I enter into the city, then behold them that are sick with famine! yea, both the prophet and the priest go about into a land that they know not.
"Господи, окончательно ли Ты отверг народ Иудеи? Господи, вправду ли Ты ненавидишь Сион? Ты нам такую причиняешь боль, что мы не можем исцелиться. Зачем Ты делаешь это? Мы уповали на мир, но не дождались ничего хорошего. Ждали мы исцеленья, но пришёл только ужас.
A Prayer for Mercy
Hast thou utterly rejected Judah? hath thy soul lothed Zion? why hast thou smitten us, and there is no healing for us? we looked for peace, and there is no good; and for the time of healing, and behold trouble!

Господи, мы зло наше знаем, знаем грехи наших предков, да, против Тебя мы грешили.
We acknowledge, O LORD, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers: for we have sinned against thee.
Господи, не отталкивай нас, ради имени Твоего, не отнимай честь трона Твоей славы, вспомни и не разрушай Твоего с нами завета.
Do not abhor us, for thy name's sake, do not disgrace the throne of thy glory: remember, break not thy covenant with us.
Чужеземные идолы бессильны призвать дождь; у неба нет власти дождь послать без Тебя. Ты — единственная надежда, Ты единственный, Кто это творит".
Are there any among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? art not thou he, O LORD our God? therefore we will wait upon thee: for thou hast made all these things.
