"Иеремия, иди и говори с людьми Иерусалима. Скажи им так: "Во времена, когда вы были молодым народом, вы были мне верны, вы шли за мной, как юная невеста, через пустыни и глухие земли.
Go and cry in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith Jehovah: I remember for thee the kindness of thy youth, the love of thine espousals, when thou wentest after me in the wilderness, in a land not sown.
Народ Израиля был Господу подарком, стал первым Господа плодом. Все, кто был против Моего народа, были осуждены, и бедствие постигло их"". Так говорит Господь.
Israel was holiness unto Jehovah, the first-fruits of his increase: all that devour him are guilty; evil shall come upon them, saith Jehovah.
Семья Иакова, услышь весть Господа, услышьте, все дома Израиля!
Hear the word of Jehovah, house of Jacob, and all the families of the house of Israel.
Господь так говорит: "Вы думаете, что Я был несправедливым к вашим предкам, и потому вы отвернулись от Меня. Но ваши предки поклонялись ничтожным идолам и сами превратились в ничтожества.
Thus saith Jehovah: What injustice have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and become vain?
Не говорили ли ваши предки, что Господь их вывел из Египта — по пустыне сухой и каменистой, где никто не жил, где даже странника не встретить? "Но вёл Господь нас через эти земли. Так где же Он сейчас?"
And they said not, Where is Jehovah, that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, that led us in the wilderness, in a land of deserts and of pits, in a land of drought and of the shadow of death, in a land that no one passeth through, and where no man dwelleth?
Я вас привёл туда, где плодородна земля, чтоб вы её дарами питались. Я дал вам землю, но вы испортили её и осквернили.
And I brought you into a fruitful land, to eat the fruit thereof and the good thereof; and ye entered and defiled my land, and made my heritage an abomination.
Священники не спрашивали: "Где Господь?" Учителя закона Меня знать не хотели, властелины Израиля восстали на Меня, пророки воздавали честь Ваалу и поклонялись идолам ничтожным.
The priests said not, Where is Jehovah? and they that handled the law knew me not; and the shepherds transgressed against me; and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after [things that] do not profit.
И вот теперь, — сказал Господь, — Я вновь вас обвиню, и также обвиню потомство ваше.
Therefore will I yet plead with you, saith Jehovah, and with your children's children will I plead.
Идите через море к Хитимским островам, пошлите кого-нибудь в Кидар и посмотрите, было ли там такое, как у вас?
For pass over to the isles of Chittim, and see; and send unto Kedar, and consider diligently, and see if there have been such a thing.
Оставил ли какой-нибудь народ своих богов, чтоб поклоняться новым, хотя они совсем не боги? Но Мой народ отрёкся от Бога славного и начал поклоняться ничтожным идолам.
Hath a nation changed [its] gods? and they are no gods; -- but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit.
Смотрите, небеса, и сотрясайтесь в страхе!" Такими были Господа слова.
Be astonished, ye heavens, at this, and shudder; be amazed very much, saith Jehovah.
"Народ Мой сделал два великих зла: он отвернулся от Меня, ручья живой воды, и рыл себе колодцы, к другим богам оборотив лицо, но в их колодцах не держится вода.
For my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, to hew them out cisterns, broken cisterns that hold no water.
Стал ли народ Израиля рабом, как человек, рабом уже рождённый? и почему себе другие забирают Израиля богатство?
The Results of Israel's Sin
Is Israel a bondman? Is he a home-born [slave]? Why is he become a spoil?

Львы молодые ревут на Израиль. Львы рычат, они разрушили землю Израиля. Города сожжены, и жителей в них не осталось.
The young lions roared against him, they gave forth their voice, and they made his land desolate: his cities are burned, without inhabitant.
Сокрушил тебе темя народ Мемфиса и Тафны.
Even the children of Noph and Tahapanes have fed on the crown of thy head.
Несчастья ваши все по собственной вине. Господь, ваш Бог, вёл вас правильным путём, но от Него вы отвернулись.
Hast thou not procured this unto thyself, in that thou hast forsaken Jehovah thy God, at the time he was leading thee in the way?
Подумайте же, люди Иудеи, вам это помогло идти в Египет и воду пить из Нила, помогло ли идти в Ассирию и из Евфрата пить? — Нет!
And now, what hast thou to do with the way of Egypt, to drink the waters of Shihor? And what hast thou to do with the way of Assyria, to drink the waters of the River?
Вы сотворили зло, и за него вас наказание постигнет. Несчастья к вам придут, они уроком будут вам, и вы поймёте, как горько отступать от Господа, вашего Бога, как не чтить Меня и не благоговеть". Это "слова Господа, Бога Всемогущего.
Thine own wickedness chastiseth thee, and thy backslidings reprove thee: know then and see that it is an evil thing and bitter that thou hast forsaken Jehovah thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts.
Ты, Иудея, сбросила давно своё ярмо, разрушив узы, которыми Я управлял тобою, и сказала: "Не буду тебе более служить". Но в то же время на холмах высоких и под деревьями ты предавалась блуду.
For of old thou hast broken thy yoke, [and] burst thy bands; and thou saidst, I will not serve. For upon every high hill, and under every green tree, thou bowest down, playing the harlot.
Я, Иудея, насаждал тебя, как благодатный виноградник. Ты семенами лучшими была. Но как же превратилась ты в другую лозу, рождающую дикий виноград?
And I, -- I had planted thee a noble vine, wholly a right seed; how then art thou turned into the degenerate shoots of a strange vine unto me?
И даже если щёлоком себя умоешь ты, истратишь много мыла, Я всё равно смогу увидеть вину твою". Так говорит Господь.
For though thou wash thee with nitre, and take thee much potash, thine iniquity is marked before me, saith the Lord Jehovah.
"Как ты могла сказать мне, Иудея: "Я не виновна. Я не поклонялась идолам Ваала?" Вспомни, что ты делала в долине, как вела себя, подобно резвой верблюдице, перебегающей от места к месту.

Ты словно дикая ослица в пору вожделения, когда она ноздрями пьёт воздух, и никто её не может вернуть назад. Все в это время, кто её желает, её легко найдут.
-- a wild ass, used to the wilderness, that snuffeth up the wind in her desire! In her ardour, who shall turn her away? All they that seek her will not weary themselves; in her month they shall find her.
Достаточно тебе гоняться, Иудея, за идолами. И, жаждущая, перестань желать их! Но отвечаешь ты: "Нет, оставь надежду, я люблю чужих богов и я хочу им поклоняться".
Withhold thy foot from being unshod, and thy throat from thirst. But thou saidst, There is no hope; no, for I love strangers, and after them will I go.
Стыдится вор, когда его поймали, и так же стыдно должно быть людям Иудеи — царям, правителям, священникам, пророкам.
As a thief is ashamed when he is found, so shall the house of Israel be ashamed -- they, their kings, their princes, and their priests, and their prophets --
Они обломку дерева способны говорить: "Ты мой отец", и камню говорить: "Ты дал мне жизнь". Им стыдно будет всем, они ко Мне спиною повернулись. Но стоит лишь народу Иудеи попасть в несчастье, как они ко Мне взывают, чтобы Я пришёл и спас их.
saying to a stock, Thou art my father; and to a stone, Thou hast brought me forth; for they have turned the back unto me, and not the face; and in the time of their trouble they will say, Arise, and save us!
Пусть идолы твои придут спасти тебя. Где они, вами сотворённые? Давай посмотрим, как эти идолы придут спасать тебя, когда нагрянет беда. Иудея, у тебя столько богов, сколько в тебе городов.
Where then are thy gods that thou hast made for thyself? let them arise, if they can save thee in the time of thy trouble: for as the number of thy cities, are thy gods, O Judah.
Зачем вы спорите со Мною, — вы все ко Мне спиною повернулись". Так говорит Господь.
Wherefore would ye contend with me? Ye all have transgressed against me, saith Jehovah.
"Я наказал вас, люди Иудеи, но это вам не помогло, вы не пришли обратно, вы мечами изрубили пророков, к вам пришедших, вы, как львы, их истребили.
In vain have I smitten your children: they received no correction. Your own sword hath devoured your prophets, like a destroying lion.
Все ныне живущие, услышьте слова Господа. Разве Я был пустыней для Израиля, был ли Я опасною и тёмною землёю для них? Но мой народ мне отвечает: "Мы свободны и мы пойдём своим путём. К тебе, Господь, мы не вернёмся". Зачем так говорят они?
O generation, mark ye the word of Jehovah. Have I been a wilderness unto Israel, or a land of thick darkness? Wherefore say my people, We have dominion; we will come no more unto thee?
Не забывает женщина о своём сокровище, невеста не забудет о поясе своём, но обо Мне народ Мой так часто забывал, что этого не счесть.
Doth a virgin forget her ornaments, a bride her attire? But my people have forgotten me days without number.
Ты, Иудея, вправду знаешь, как у идолов чужих любви добиться, ты вправду научилась делать зло.
How dost thou trim thy way to seek love! Therefore hast thou also accustomed thy ways to wickedness.
Кровь на твоих руках, кровь бедных и невинных; кого бы ни поймала ты, врываясь в их дома, ты беспричинно убивала.
Yea, in thy skirts is found the blood of the souls of the innocent poor, whom thou didst not encounter breaking in, but [it is found] upon all these.
И всё же ты твердишь: "Я невиновна, Бог на меня не сердится". Тебя Я тоже обвиню во лжи, за то, что говоришь: "Я не грешна".
And thou sayest, Indeed I am innocent; his anger will turn from me. Behold, I will enter into judgment with thee because thou sayest, I have not sinned.
Легко меняешь ты решения свои: в Ассирии ты разочаровалась и помощи искать пошла в Египет, но и Египет тебя разочарует.
Why dost thou gad about so much, and change thy way? Thou shalt also be brought to shame by Egypt, as thou wast brought to shame by Assyria.
