Во второй год царствования персидского царя Дария, в первый день шестого месяца, услышал пророк Аггей слово Господа. Слово это было к Зоровавелю, сыну Салафиилеву, и к Иисусу, сыну Иоседекову. Зоровавель был правителем Иудеи, а Иисус был верховным священником. И вот какое это было слово.
A Call to Rebuild the Temple
In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying,

Всемогущий Господь сказал: "Народ говорит, что ещё не время строить храм Господа".
Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD'S house should be built.
И тогда снова пришло слово от Господа через пророка Аггея:
Then came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,
"Вы думаете, что пришло время вам жить в хороших домах с красиво отделанными стенами. А дом Господа всё ещё лежит в руинах!"
Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste?
И теперь Господь Всемогущий говорит: "Подумайте о том, что происходит!
Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
Вы много посеяли, а урожай собрали маленький. У вас есть пища, но вы едите не досыта; пьёте вы, но не напиваетесь; есть у вас одежда, но вы не можете в ней согреться; вы зарабатываете деньги, но не знаете, куда всё уходит, как будто в кармане дыра!"
Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.
Господь Всемогущий говорит: "Подумайте о том, что делаете!
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
Идите в горы и принесите оттуда лес для строительства храма. Вот тогда Я буду доволен и прославлен". Так сказал Господь.
Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD.
"Вы ожидаете богатый урожай, но когда собираете его, оказывается, что зерна очень мало. Вы приносите его домой, а Я посылаю ветер, который развеет всё зерно! Почему же так происходит? Потому, что Мой дом всё ещё в запустении, тогда как каждый из вас бежит к своему дому.
Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.
Вот почему небо закрылось и не посылает вам росы, а земля не даёт урожая.
Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed from her fruit.
Я призвал засуху на землю и горы. Зерно, молодое вино, оливковое масло и всё, что родит земля, будет уничтожено! И все люди и весь скот ослабеют".
And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands.
Господь Бог послал Аггея поговорить с Зоровавелем, сыном Салафиилия и с верховным священником Иисусом, сыном Иоседека. И послушали они и весь народ голос Господа Бога и слова Аггея-пророка. И народ показал свой страх перед Господом и уважение к Нему.
The People Obey
Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him, and the people did fear before the LORD.

Then spake Haggai the LORD'S messenger in the LORD'S message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the LORD.

And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the LORD of hosts, their God,
