The Death of John the Baptist

At that time Herod the tetrarch heard about the fame of Jesus,

сказал своим прислужникам: "Этот человек на самом деле — Иоанн Креститель. Он воскрес из мёртвых и потому способен творить все эти чудеса".

and he said to his servants, “This is John the Baptist. He has been raised from the dead; that is why these miraculous powers are at work in him.”

Задолго до этого Ирод схватил Иоанна, заковал его в цепи и бросил в темницу. Он сделал это из-за Иродиады, жены своего брата Филиппа.

For Herod had seized John and bound him and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife,a

Иоанн говорил ему: "Тебе не подобает с ней сожительствовать".

because John had been saying to him, “It is not lawful for you to have her.”

Ирод хотел убить его, но боялся народа, ибо люди считали Иоанна пророком.

And though he wanted to put him to death, he feared the people, because they held him to be a prophet.

Когда наступил день рождения Ирода, дочь Иродиады танцевала перед Иродом и его гостями и так угодила Ироду,

But when Herod’s birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced before the company and pleased Herod,

что он клятвенно пообещал дать ей всё, что она ни попросит.

so that he promised with an oath to give her whatever she might ask.

По научению матери она сказала: "Принеси мне на блюде голову Иоанна Крестителя".

Prompted by her mother, she said, “Give me the head of John the Baptist here on a platter.”

И хотя царь был опечален, но из-за клятвы своей и из-за гостей, восседавших вместе с ним, приказал исполнить эту просьбу

And the king was sorry, but because of his oaths and his guests he commanded it to be given.

10

и послал людей обезглавить Иоанна в тюрьме.

He sent and had John beheaded in the prison,

Они принесли голову Иоанна на блюде и отдали девушке, а та отнесла её матери.

and his head was brought on a platter and given to the girl, and she brought it to her mother.

12

После этого пришли ученики Иоанна, взяли его тело и погребли его, а затем пошли и рассказали Иисусу, что произошло.

And his disciples came and took the body and buried it, and they went and told Jesus.

13

Услышав о том, что случилось, Иисус сел в лодку и отправился в уединенное место, чтобы побыть в одиночестве. Но когда люди узнали об этом, они пришли из своих городов и пошли за Ним.

Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand

Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a desolate place by himself. But when the crowds heard it, they followed him on foot from the towns.

Выйдя на берег, Иисус увидел большую толпу и сжалился над ними и исцелил больных.

When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick.

15

Когда настал вечер, к Нему пришли Его ученики и сказали: "Место здесь уединённое и уже поздно. Распусти людей, чтобы они могли пойти в селения и купить себе еды".

Now when it was evening, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a desolate place, and the day is now over; send the crowds away to go into the villages and buy food for themselves.”

16

Но Иисус сказал ученикам: "Незачем им уходить. Дайте им что-нибудь поесть".

16

But Jesus said, “They need not go away; you give them something to eat.”

17

Ученики ответили Ему: "Всё, что у нас есть с собой, это пять хлебов и две рыбины".

17

They said to him, “We have only five loaves here and two fish.”

18

Он сказал: "Принесите их Мне".

18

And he said, “Bring them here to me.”

19

Он велел народу сесть на траву, а потом взял пять хлебов и две рыбины, возвёл глаза к небу и возблагодарил Бога за еду. После этого Он преломил хлеб и стал раздавать ломти Своим ученикам, а те в свою очередь передавали их народу.

Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass, and taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and said a blessing. Then he broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds.

20

Все поели и насытились, а ученики потом ещё наполнили остатками еды двенадцать корзин.

20

And they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up twelve baskets full of the broken pieces left over.

21

И всего среди евших было 5000 мужчин, а кроме них ещё женщины и дети.

21

And those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

22

Вскоре после этого Он велел ученикам сесть в лодку и послал их вперед, на другой берег Галилейского озера, а Сам остался, чтобы отпустить народ.

Jesus Walks on the Water

Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds.

23

Попрощавшись с народом, Он в одиночестве поднялся в горы, чтобы помолиться. И когда наступил вечер, Он был там один.

And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone,

Лодка была уже далеко от берега, и волны швыряли её из стороны в сторону, ибо она шла против сильного ветра.

but the boat by this time was a long wayb from the land,c beaten by the waves, for the wind was against them.

25

Между тремя и шестью часами утра Иисус пришёл к ним, идя по воде.

And in the fourth watch of the nightd he came to them, walking on the sea.

26

Увидев, что Он идёт по озеру, ученики испугались и сказали: "Это призрак!" и стали кричать от страха.

26

But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” and they cried out in fear.

27

Тогда Иисус заговорил с ними: "Не пугайтесь! Это Я! Не бойтесь!"

27

But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.”

28

В ответ Пётр сказал: "Господи, если это Ты, то прикажи, чтобы я мог подойти к Тебе по воде!"

28

And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.”

29

И Он сказал: "Подойди!" И Пётр вышел из лодки и пошёл по воде к Иисусу.

29

He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus.

30

Тут он заметил, что ветер стал сильнее, и испугался. Он стал тонуть и закричал: "Господи, спаси меня!"

30

But when he saw the wind,e he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.”

31

Иисус тотчас же протянул руку и подхватил его. И сказал ему: "Маловерный, почему ты усомнился?"

31

Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

32

Они вошли в лодку, и ветер стих.

32

And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.

33

Те, кто были в лодке, поклонились Иисусу и сказали: "Ты истинно Сын Божий!"

33

And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

34

Они пересекли озеро и причалили к берегу в Геннисарете.

Jesus Heals the Sick in Gennesaret

And when they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret.

35

Когда местные жители узнали Иисуса, они послали весть по всей округе, и люди стали приносить больных

And when the men of that place recognized him, they sent around to all that region and brought to him all who were sick

36

и умолять Его позволить им хотя бы дотронуться до полы Его одежды. И все те, кто коснулись Его, исцелились.

and implored him that they might only touch the fringe of his garment. And as many as touched it were made well.
