1 Chronicles 14

Хірам, тирський цар, вислав послів до Давида, і кедрини, і мулярів та теслів, щоб збудували йому дім.

David Established at Jerusalem

Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, with masons and carpenters, to build him a house.

Давид зрозумів, що Господь утвердив його царем над Ізраїлем, бо його царська влада піднеслась високо вгору заради його народу Ізраїля.

So David knew that the Lord had established him as king over Israel, for his kingdom was highly exalted for the sake of His people Israel.

Давид узяв собі ще більше жінок в Єрусалимі й породив ще більш синів та дочок.

Then David took more wives in Jerusalem, and David begot more sons and daughters.

Ось імена тих дітей, що народились у нього в Єрусалимі: Шаммуа, Шовав, Натан, Соломон,

And these are the names of his children whom he had in Jerusalem: [a]Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,

Ївхар, Елішуа, Еліфелет,

Ibhar, [b]Elishua, [c]Elpelet,

Ногаг, Нефег, Яфія,

Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia,

Елішама, Веліяда та Еліфелет.

Elishama, [d]Beeliada, and Eliphelet.

Як же почули філістимляни, що Давида помазано царем над усім Ізраїлем, вирушили вони його шукати. Давид довідався про те й вийшов їм назустріч.

The Philistines Defeated

Now when the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to search for David. And David heard of it and went out against them.

Філістимляни, просунувшись наперед, напали на Рефаїм-долину.

Then the Philistines went and made a raid on the Valley of [e]Rephaim.

Тоді Давид запитав у Бога, кажучи: “Чи йти мені на філістимлян і чи видаси їх у мої руки?” Господь сказав йому: “Іди, я видам їх тобі в руки.”

And David inquired of God, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?”
The Lord said to him, “Go up, for I will deliver them into your hand.”

Двигнулися вони під Ваал-Перацім, і побив їх там Давид і сказав: “Розбив Господь моїх ворогів моєю рукою, як розбивають води.” Через це й дали назву тому місцю Ваал-Перацім.

So they went up to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there. Then David said, “God has broken through my enemies by my hand like a breakthrough of water.” Therefore they called the name of that place [f]Baal Perazim.

Вони покинули там своїх богів, яких, на наказ Давида, спалено на вогні.

And when they left their gods there, David gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire.

І знову напали філістимляни на долину.

Then the Philistines once again made a raid on the valley.

Давид знов запитав у Бога, і сказав йому Бог: “Не йди слідом за ними; обійди їх і йди на них із сторони бальзамових дерев;

Therefore David inquired again of God, and God said to him, “You shall not go up after them; circle around them, and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees.

і як почуєш шелест, наче шум кроків по вершках бальзамових дерев, тоді виступи на битву, бо Бог вийшов поперед тебе, щоб розбити філістимлянський табір”.

And it shall be, when you hear a sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall go out to battle, for God has gone out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.”

Давид зробив, як повелів йому Бог, і побив філістимлянське військо від Гівеону до Гезеру.

So David did as God commanded him, and they drove back the army of the Philistines from [g]Gibeon as far as Gezer.

І пронеслось ім'я Давида по всіх краях, і Господь нагнав страх перед ним на всі народи.

Then the fame of David went out into all lands, and the Lord brought the fear of him upon all nations.
