A song for pilgrims ascending to Jerusalem.

LORD, remember David
and all that he suffered.

Як він клявся Господеві, робив обітницю могучому Богу Якова:

He made a solemn promise to the LORD.
He vowed to the Mighty One of Israel,a

"Не ввійду до шатра дому мого, не ляжу на постелї відпочити;

“I will not go home;
I will not let myself rest.

Не дам спати очам моїм, нї дрімати повікам моїм,

I will not let my eyes sleep
nor close my eyelids in slumber

Поки не знайду для Господа оселї, дому для Бога Якова!"

until I find a place to build a house for the LORD,
a sanctuary for the Mighty One of Israel.”

Ось ми чували про неї в Ефратї, знайшли її на полях Яарських*.

We heard that the Ark was in Ephrathah;
then we found it in the distant countryside of Jaar.

Ходїмо, ввійдемо до дому його, поклонимось у підніжя ніг його!

Let us go to the sanctuary of the LORD;
let us worship at the footstool of his throne.

Встань, Господи, поступи на місце спокою твого, ти і скеня сили твоєї.

Arise, O LORD, and enter your resting place,
along with the Ark, the symbol of your power.

Сьвященники твої нехай правдою зодягнуться, а угодники твої нехай торжествують!

May your priests be clothed in godliness;
may your loyal servants sing for joy.

Задля Давида, слуги твого, не відсилай від себе лице помазанця твого!

For the sake of your servant David,
do not reject the king you have anointed.

Клявся Господь Давидові правдою, не відступить він від неї: З плоду тїла твого посаджу на твоїм престолї.

The LORD swore an oath to David
with a promise he will never take back:
“I will place one of your descendants
on your throne.

Коли сини твої хоронити муть заповіт мій і велїння мої, котрих навчу їх, то й сини їх по всї часи седїти муть на твоїм престолї.

If your descendants obey the terms of my covenant
and the laws that I teach them,
then your royal line
will continue forever and ever.”

Бо Господь вибрав собі Сиона, бажав його собі за оселю.

For the LORD has chosen Jerusalemb;
he has desired it for his home.

Ось місце мого вічного спокою; ту оселюся, бажав бо я того.

“This is my resting place forever,” he said.
“I will live here, for this is the home I desired.

Буду щедро благословити їду його, вбогих його хлїбом до сита нагодую.

I will bless this city and make it prosperous;
I will satisfy its poor with food.

Сьвященників спасеннєм зодягну, і побожні люде його радуватись будуть.

I will clothe its priests with godliness;
its faithful servants will sing for joy.

На тому місцї дам рости рогові Давида; я приготовив сьвітильника для помазанця мого.

Here I will increase the power of David;
my anointed one will be a light for my people.

Ворогів його соромом покрию, а на йому сияти ме корона його.

I will clothe his enemies with shame,
but he will be a glorious king.”
