Matthew 19

    І сталось, як скінчив Ісус цї слова, вийшов він з Галилеї, і прийшов у гряницї Юдейські, за Йорданом.

    Marriage and Divorce

    Now it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these sayings, that He departed from Galilee and came to the region of Judea beyond the Jordan.

    І йшло слїдом за Ним пребагато народу, й вигоїв їх там.

    And great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them there.

    І приступили до Него Фарисеї, спокушуючи Його, й кажучи Йому: Чи годить ся чоловікові розводитись із жінкою своєю за всяку вину?

    The Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?”

    Він же, озвавшись, рече їм: Хиба ви не читали, що хто втворив у починї, — чоловіком і жінкою втворив їх?

    And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who [a]made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’
  • 5
    І рече: Тому чоловік покине батька й матїр та пригорнеть ся до жінки своєї, й будуть удвох тїло одно;

    and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?

    так що вже не двоє, а тїло одно. Оце ж, що Бог злучив, чоловік нехай не розлучує.

    So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”

    Кажуть вони Йому: На що ж звелїв Мойсей давати розвідний лист і розводитись із нею?

    They said to Him, “Why then did Moses command to give a certificate of divorce, and to put her away?”
  • 8
    Рече їм: Мойсей задля жорстокости сердець ваших дозволив вам розводитись із жінками вашими; у починї ж не було так.

    He said to them, “Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so.
  • 9
    Глаголю ж вам: Хто розведеть ся з жінкою своєю — хиба за перелюб — та оженить ся з иншою, робить перелюб; і хто з розвідкою оженить ся, робить перелюб.

    And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for [b]sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery.”

    Кажуть Йому ученики Його: Коли така справа чоловіка з жінкою, то не добре женитись.

    His disciples said to Him, “If such is the case of the man with his wife, it is better not to marry.”

    Він же рече їм: Не всї зміщають слово се, а кому дано.

    Jesus Teaches on Celibacy

    But He said to them, “All cannot accept this saying, but only those to whom it has been given:

    Єсть бо скопцї, що з утроби матерної родились так; і є скопцї, що скопились од людей; і є скопцї, що скопили себе задля царства небесного. Хто може змістити, нехай містить.

    For there are [c]eunuchs who were born thus from their mother’s womb, and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He who is able to accept it, let him accept it.”

    Тодї поприводили до Него дїток, щоб положив руки на них, та помолив ся; ученики ж заказували їм.

    Jesus Blesses Little Children

    Then little children were brought to Him that He might put His hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them.

    Ісус же рече: Пустїть дїток, не з'упиняйте їх прийти до мене, бо таких царство небесне.

    But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”

    І, положивши руки на них, пійшов звідтіля.
  • 15
    And He laid His hands on them and departed from there.
  • 16
    І ось один, приступивши, каже Йому: Учителю благий, що доброго робити менї, щоб мати життє вічне?

    Jesus Counsels the Rich Young Ruler

    Now behold, one came and said to Him, “Good[d] Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?”

    Він же рече до Него: Чого ти звеш мене благим? нїхто не благий, тільки один, Бог. Коли ж бажаєш увійти в життє, держи заповідї.

    So He said to him, [e]“Why do you call Me good? [f]No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”

    Каже до Него: Которі? Ісус же рече: Оцї: Не вбивай, Не роби перелюбу, Не крадь, Не сьвідкуй криво;

    He said to Him, “Which ones?”
    Jesus said, “‘You shall not murder,’ ‘You shall not commit adultery,’ ‘You shall not steal,’ ‘You shall not bear false witness,’

    Поважай батька твого й матїр, і: Люби ближнього твого, як себе самого.
  • 19
    ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ ”

    Каже Йому молодець: Все се хоронив я з малку мого; чого ще не достає менї?
  • 20
    The young man said to Him, “All these things I have kept [g]from my youth. What do I still lack?”

    Рече до него Ісус: Коли хочеш бути звершений, іди продай, що маєш, і дай убогим, а мати меш скарб на небі; і приходь, та й іди слїдом за мною.

    Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”

    Як же почув молодець се слово, одійшов засмутившись; бо мав достатки великі.
  • 22
    But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
  • 23
    Ісус же рече до учеників своїх: Істино глаголю вам: Що тяжко багатому ввійти в царство небесне.

    With God All Things Are Possible

    Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.

    Знов же глаголю вам: Легше верблюдові кріз ушко голки пройти, нїж багатому в царство Боже ввійти.
  • 24
    And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

    Почувши ж ученики Його, дивувались вельми, кажучи: Хто ж зможе спасти ся?

    When His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?”

    Ісус же, глянувши, рече їм: У людей се не можливе, у Бога ж все можливе.

    But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

    Озвавсь тодї Петр і каже до Него: Ось ми покинули все, та й пїйшли слїдом за Тобою; що ж буде нам?

    Then Peter answered and said to Him, “See, we have left all and followed You. Therefore what shall we have?”
  • 28
    Ісус же рече до них: Істино глаголю вам: Що ви, пійшовши слїдом за мною, у новонастанню, як сяде Син чоловічий на престолї слави своєї, сядете також на дванайцяти престолах, судячи дванайцять родів Ізраїлевих.

    So Jesus said to them, “Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

    І кожен, хто покинув доми, або братів, або сестер, або батька, або матїр, або жінку, або дїтей, або поля, задля імя мого, в сотеро прийме, й життє вічне осягне.

    And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother [h]or wife or children or [i]lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life.

    Тільки ж многі перві будуть останнї, а останнї — перві.

    But many who are first will be last, and the last first.
