    І, вийшовши Ісус, пійшов із церкви; і приступили ученики Його, показати Йому будівлю церковну.

    Jesus Speaks about the Future

    As Jesus was leaving the Temple grounds, his disciples pointed out to him the various Temple buildings.

    Ісус же рече їм: Чи бачите се все? Істино глаголю вам: Не зостанеть ся тут камінь на каменї, щоб не зруйновано.

    But he responded, “Do you see all these buildings? I tell you the truth, they will be completely demolished. Not one stone will be left on top of another!”

    Як же сидїв на горі Оливній, поприходили до Него ученики самотою, кажучи: Скажи нам, коли се буде? й який знак Твого приходу й кінця сьвіту?

    Later, Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives. His disciples came to him privately and said, “Tell us, when will all this happen? What sign will signal your return and the end of the world?a”

    І озвавшись Ісус, рече їм: Гледїть, щоб хто не звів вас.

    Jesus told them, “Don’t let anyone mislead you,

    Багато бо приходити ме в імя моє, кажучи: Я Христос; і зведуть многих.

    for many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah.’ They will deceive many.
  • 6
    Чути мете ж про войни й чутки воєнні; гледїть же, не трівожтесь; мусить бо все статись, та се ще не конець.

    And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately.

    Бо встане нарід на нарід і царство на царство, й буде голоднеча, й помір, і трус по місцях.
  • 7
    Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world.

    Все ж се почин горя.
  • 8
    But all this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come.
  • 9
    Тодї видавати муть вас на муки, й вбивати муть вас; і зненавидять вас усї народи задля імя мого.

    “Then you will be arrested, persecuted, and killed. You will be hated all over the world because you are my followers.b
  • 10
    І тодї поблазнять ся многі, й видавати муть одно одного, й ненавидїти муть одно одного.

    And many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other.
  • 11
    І багато лжепророків устане, й зведуть многих.
  • 11
    And many false prophets will appear and will deceive many people.
  • 12
    І задля намноженого беззаконня, прохолоне любов многих.
  • 12
    Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold.
  • 13
    Хто ж видержить до останку, той спасеть ся.
  • 13
    But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
  • 14
    І проповідувати меть ся євангелия царства по всїй вселеннїй на сьвідкуваннє всїм народам; і тодї прийде конець.

    And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nationsc will hear it; and then the end will come.

    Оце ж, як побачите гидоту спустїння, що сказав Даниїл пророк, стоячу на місцї сьвятому (хто читає, нехай розуміє),

    “The day is coming when you will see what Daniel the prophet spoke about — the sacrilegious object that causes desecrationd standing in the Holy Place.” (Reader, pay attention!)

    тодї, хто в Юдеї, нехай втїкає на гори;

    “Then those in Judea must flee to the hills.
  • 17
    хто на криші, нехай не злазить узяти що з хати своєї;

    A person out on the deck of a roof must not go down into the house to pack.

    і хто в полї, нехай не вертаєть ся назад узяти одежу свою.

    A person out in the field must not return even to get a coat.
  • 19
    Горе ж важким і годуючим під той час!

    How terrible it will be for pregnant women and for nursing mothers in those days.

    Молїть ся ж, щоб не довелось вам утїкати зимою, анї в суботу:

    And pray that your flight will not be in winter or on the Sabbath.

    буде бо тодї мука велика, якої не було від настання сьвіту до сього часу, й не буде.
  • 21
    For there will be greater anguish than at any time since the world began. And it will never be so great again.
  • 22
    І коли б тих днїв не вкорочено, то жодне б тїло не спасло ся; тільки ж задля вибраних укорочені будуть днї тиї.

    In fact, unless that time of calamity is shortened, not a single person will survive. But it will be shortened for the sake of God’s chosen ones.

    Тодї, коли хто вам скаже: Дивись, ось Христос, або онде; не йміть віри.

    “Then if anyone tells you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah,’ or ‘There he is,’ don’t believe it.
  • 24
    Устануть бо лжехристи й лжепророки, й давати муть ознаки великі й дива, щоб, коли можна, звести й вибраних.

    For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform great signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God’s chosen ones.
  • 25
    Оце ж наперед сказав я вам.

    See, I have warned you about this ahead of time.
  • 26
    Коли ж скажуть вам: Ось він у пустинї; не виходьте; Ось він у коморах; не діймайте віри.

    “So if someone tells you, ‘Look, the Messiah is out in the desert,’ don’t bother to go and look. Or, ‘Look, he is hiding here,’ don’t believe it!

    Бо, як блискавка виходить зі сходу та сяє аж до заходу, так буде й прихід Сина чоловічого.

    For as the lightning flashes in the east and shines to the west, so it will be when the Son of Mane comes.

    Де бо є труп, там збирати муть ся вірли.

    Just as the gathering of vultures shows there is a carcass nearby, so these signs indicate that the end is near.f

    І зараз після горя днїв тих сонце померкне, й місяць не давати ме сьвітла свого, й зорі попадають із неба, й сили небесні захитають ся.

    “Immediately after the anguish of those days,
    the sun will be darkened,
    the moon will give no light,
    the stars will fall from the sky,
    and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.g
  • 30
    І тодї явить ся ознака Сина чоловічого на небі; й тодї заголосять усї роди землї, і побачять Сина чоловічого, грядущого на хмарах небесних із силою й славою великою.

    And then at last, the sign that the Son of Man is coming will appear in the heavens, and there will be deep mourning among all the peoples of the earth. And they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.h

    І пішле він ангели свої з голосним гуком трубним, і позбирають вони вибраних його від чотирох вітрів, од кінцїв неба до кінцїв його.

    And he will send out his angels with the mighty blast of a trumpet, and they will gather his chosen ones from all over the worldi — from the farthest ends of the earth and heaven.

    Від смоківницї ж навчіть ся приповісти: Коли вже віттє її стане мягке й пустить листє, знайте, що близько лїто.

    “Now learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branches bud and its leaves begin to sprout, you know that summer is near.

    Так само й ви: як оце все побачите, відайте, що близько під дверима.

    In the same way, when you see all these things, you can know his return is very near, right at the door.

    Істино глаголю вам: Не перейде рід сей, як усе теє станеть ся.

    I tell you the truth, this generationj will not pass from the scene until all these things take place.

    Небо й земля перейде, слова ж мої не перейдуть.

    Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear.

    Про день же той і годину нїхто не знає, нї ангели небесні, тільки сам Отець мій.

    “However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself.k Only the Father knows.

    Як же днї Ноєві, так буде й прихід Сина чоловічого.

    “When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day.

    Бо, як були за днїв перед потопом, що їли, й пили, женились, і віддавались, аж до дня, коли увійшов Ной у ковчег,

    In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat.

    та й не знали, аж прийшла повідь і позносила всїх; так буде й прихід Сина чоловічого.

    People didn’t realize what was going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes.

    Тодї буде двоє в полї; один візьметь ся, а один зоставить ся.

    “Two men will be working together in the field; one will be taken, the other left.
  • 41
    Дві молоти муть на жорнах; одна візьметь ся, а одна зоставить ся.

    Two women will be grinding flour at the mill; one will be taken, the other left.
  • 42
    Ото ж пильнуйте, бо не знаєте, которої години Господь ваш прийде.

    “So you, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know what day your Lord is coming.
  • 43
    Се ж відайте, що коли б господар знав, у яку сторожу прийде злодїй, то пильнував би, та й не попустив би підкопати хати своєї.

    Understand this: If a homeowner knew exactly when a burglar was coming, he would keep watch and not permit his house to be broken into.

    Тим же й ви будьте готові; бо тієї години, як і не думаєте, Син чоловічий прийде.

    You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.
  • 45
    Який єсть вірний слуга й розумний, що поставив пан його над челяддю своєю, щоб роздавав їй харч у пору?

    “A faithful, sensible servant is one to whom the master can give the responsibility of managing his other household servants and feeding them.
  • 46
    Щасливий той слуга, котрого, прийшовши пан його, застане, що робить так.
  • 46
    If the master returns and finds that the servant has done a good job, there will be a reward.
  • 47
    Істино глаголю вам: Що поставить його над усїм добром своїм.
  • 47
    I tell you the truth, the master will put that servant in charge of all he owns.

    А которий лукавий слуга казати ме в серцї своїм: Забарить ся мій пан прийти,

    But what if the servant is evil and thinks, ‘My master won’t be back for a while,’
  • 49
    та й зачне бити своїх товаришів, та їсти й пити з пяницями;
  • 49
    and he begins beating the other servants, partying, and getting drunk?
  • 50
    то прийде пан того слуги дня, якого не сподїваєть ся, і години, якої не відає,

    The master will return unannounced and unexpected,
  • 51
    та й відлучить його, й долю його з лицемірами положить: там буде плач і скреготаннє зубів.

    and he will cut the servant to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
