2 Corinthians 2

Розсудив же я сам із собою се, щоб знов у смутку до вас не прийти.

Paul Urges Forgiveness

But I determined this within myself, that I would not come again to you in sorrow.

Бо коли я завдаю смутку вам, то хто мене розвеселить, як не той, хто засмучений через мене.

For if I make you sorrowful, then who is he who makes me glad but the one who is made sorrowful by me?

І написав вам се, щоб, прийшовши не мав смутку від тих, котрими годилось би менї веселитись, певен будучи про всїх вас, що моя радість для всїх вас.

Forgive the Offender

And I wrote this very thing to you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow over those from whom I ought to have joy, having confidence in you all that my joy is the joy of you all.

Бо з великого горя, і туги серця написав я вам з многими сьлїзми, не щоб ви смуткували, а щоб пізнали любов, котрої в мене пребагато до вас.

For out of much [a]affliction and anguish of heart I wrote to you, with many tears, not that you should be grieved, but that you might know the love which I have so abundantly for you.

Коли ж хто засмутив, не мене засмутив, а від части (щоб не отягчив я) і всїх вас.

But if anyone has caused grief, he has not grieved me, but all of you to some extent — not to be too severe.

Доволї такому сієї кари від многих.

This punishment which was inflicted by the majority is sufficient for such a man,

Так що напротив лучче простїть і утїште, щоб надто великий сум не пожер такого.

so that, on the contrary, you ought rather to forgive and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one be swallowed up with too much sorrow.

Тим же благаю вас, обявіть любов до него.

Therefore I urge you to reaffirm your love to him.

На те бо й писав я, щоб мати доказ од вас, чи у всьому ви слухняні.

For to this end I also wrote, that I might put you to the test, whether you are obedient in all things.

Кому ж ви прощаєте, тому й я; бо й я, коли що кому простив, то ради вас перед лицем Христа,

Now whom you forgive anything, I also forgive. For [b]if indeed I have forgiven anything, I have forgiven that one for your sakes in the presence of Christ,

щоб не подужав нас сатана; бо нам відомі задуми його.

lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.

Прийшовши ж у Трояду на благовістє Христове, як відчинено менї двері в Господї,

Triumph in Christ

Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ’s gospel, and a [c]door was opened to me by the Lord,

не мав я впокою в дусї моїм, не знайшовши Тита, брата мого; а, попрощавшись із ними, вийшов у Македонию.

I had no rest in my spirit, because I did not find Titus my brother; but taking my leave of them, I departed for Macedonia.

Богу ж дяка, що завсїгди дає нам побіду в Христї, і пахощі знання свого обявляє через нас у всякому місцї.

Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us [d]diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.

Бо ми пахощі Христові Богу в тих, що спасають ся, і в тих, що погибають:

For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.

одним ми пахощі смерти на смерть, а другим пахощі життя на життє; та кого на се вистачить?

To the one we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other the aroma of life leading to life. And who is sufficient for these things?

Не такі бо ми, як многі, що крамують словом Божим, а щиро, як од Бога, перед Богом, у Христї глаголемо.

For we are not, as [e]so many, peddling[f] the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as from God, we speak in the sight of God in Christ.
