А Саулів син мав двох му́жів, керівників відділів, — ім'я́ одно́му Баана, а ім'я́ дру́гому Рехав, сини бееротянина Ріммона, з Веніяминових синів, бо й Беерот залі́чений був на Веніямина.
Now Saul’s son had two men who were captains of raiding bands; the name of the one was Baanah, and the name of the other Rechab, sons of Rimmon a man of Benjamin from Beeroth (for Beeroth also is counted part of Benjamin;
Та повтікали бееротяни до Ґіттаїму, і ме́шкали там прихо́дьками, і так є аж до цього дня.
the Beerothites fled to Gittaim and have been sojourners there to this day).
А Йонатан, Саулів син, мав кульга́вого сина; він був віку п'яти літ, коли прийшла звістка про Саула та Йонатана з Їзреелу. А нянька його не́сла його й утікала; і сталося, коли вона поспішно втікала, то він упав й окривів. А ім'я́ його Мефіво́шет.
Jonathan, the son of Saul, had a son who was crippled in his feet. He was five years old when the news about Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel, and his nurse took him up and fled, and as she fled in her haste, he fell and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.
І пішли сини бееротянина Ріммона, Рехав та Баана, і ввійшли, як була денна спеко́та, до Іш-Бошетового дому, — а він лежав у півде́нному спочи́нку.
Now the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, set out, and about the heat of the day they came to the house of Ish-bosheth as he was taking his noonday rest.
І ото ввійшли вони аж до сере́дини дому, ніби взяти пшениці, та й уда́рили його в живіт. І Рехав та брат його Баана втекли́.
Отож, увійшли вони до дому, а він лежить на лі́жку своїм у своїй спа́льні, — і вони вда́рили його, і вбили його, і зняли́ йому го́лову. І взяли́ вони його голову, і йшли степово́ю дорогою всю ніч.
When they came into the house, as he lay on his bed in his bedroom, they struck him and put him to death and beheaded him. They took his head and went by the way of the Arabah all night,
І прине́сли вони Іш-Бошетову голову до Давида в Хевро́н, та й сказали царе́ві: „Оце голова́ Іш-Бошета, Саулового сина, твого ворога, що шукав був твоєї душі. І дав Господь цього дня панові моє́му, цареві, пімсту над Саулом та над насінням його“.
and brought the head of Ish-bosheth to David at Hebron. And they said to the king, “Here is the head of Ish-bosheth, the son of Saul, your enemy, who sought your life. The Lord has avenged my lord the king this day on Saul and on his offspring.”
І відповів Давид Реха́вові та братові його Баані, синам бееротеянина Ріммона, і сказав їм: „Як живий Господь, що визволив душу мою від усякого утиску,
But David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, “As the Lord lives, who has redeemed my life out of every adversity,
коли того, хто розповів мені, кажучи: Ось помер Саул, — а він був в оча́х своїх, як приємний ві́сник, — я схопи́в його, і вбив його в Ціклаґу, замість дати йому нагоро́ду за звістку,
when one told me, ‘Behold, Saul is dead,’ and thought he was bringing good news, I seized him and killed him at Ziklag, which was the reward I gave him for his news.
тим більше, коли люди несправедли́ві вбили справедли́вого чоловіка в домі його́ на посте́лі його! А тепер чи я не пошука́ю його кро́ви з вашої руки, і не ви́гублю вас із Кра́ю?“
How much more, when wicked men have killed a righteous man in his own house on his bed, shall I not now require his blood at your hand and destroy you from the earth?”
І Давид наказав слу́гам, — і вони вбили їх, і відрубали їхні ру́ки та їхні но́ги, та й повісили над ста́вом у Хевро́ні. А Їш-Бошетову го́лову взяли й поховали в Авнеровім гробі в Хевроні.
And David commanded his young men, and they killed them and cut off their hands and feet and hanged them beside the pool at Hebron. But they took the head of Ish-bosheth and buried it in the tomb of Abner at Hebron.
