Now in the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam the son of Nebat, Abijam began to reign over Judah.

Три роки царював він в Єрусалимі. А ім'я́ його матері — Мааха, Авесаломова дочка́.
He reigned for three years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Maacah the daughter of Abishalom.
І він ходив в усіх гріхах свого батька, які той робив перед ним, і серце його не було́ все з Господом, Богом своїм, як серце його батька Давида.
And he walked in all the sins that his father did before him, and his heart was not wholly true to the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father.
Бо Господь, Бог його, ради Давида дав йому світи́льника в Єрусалимі, щоб поста́вити сина його по ньому та укріпи́ти Єрусалим.
Nevertheless, for David’s sake the Lord his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem, setting up his son after him, and establishing Jerusalem,
Бо Давид робив добре в Господніх оча́х, і не відступав від усьо́го що Він наказав був йому, по всі дні життя свого, окрім справи хіття́нина Урі́ї.
because David did what was right in the eyes of the Lord and did not turn aside from anything that he commanded him all the days of his life, except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.
А війна між Рехав'а́мом та між Єровоа́мом точи́лася по всі дні життя його.
Now there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.
А решта Авійямових діл та все, що́ він зробив, ось вони написані в Книзі Хроніки Юдиних царів. І війна точи́лася між Авійямом та між Єровоамом.
The rest of the acts of Abijam and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? And there was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.
І спочив Авійям зо своїми батька́ми, і поховали його в Давидовому Місті, а за́мість нього зацарюва́в син його Аса́.
And Abijam slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David. And Asa his son reigned in his place.
А року двадцятого Єровоама, Ізраїлевого царя, зацарював Аса́, цар Юдин.
Asa Reigns in Judah
In the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Asa began to reign over Judah,

And Asa did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, as David his father had done.
І вигнав він блудоді́їв із кра́ю, і повикидав усіх божкі́в, яких поробили були їхні батьки́.
He put away the male cult prostitutes out of the land and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.
І на́віть матір свою Мааху, — і її він позбавив пра́ва бути царицею, бо вона зробила була́ і́дола для Астарти. І Аса порубав ідола її, та й спалив у долині Кедро́н.
He also removed Maacah his mother from being queen mother because she had made an abominable image for Asherah. And Asa cut down her image and burned it at the brook Kidron.
А па́гірки не минулися; тільки Асине серце було все з Господом по всі його дні.
But the high places were not taken away. Nevertheless, the heart of Asa was wholly true to the Lord all his days.
І вніс він до Господнього дому присвячені речі свого батька та присвячені речі свої, — срібло, і золото, і по́суд.
And he brought into the house of the Lord the sacred gifts of his father and his own sacred gifts, silver, and gold, and vessels.
А війна точи́лася між Асою та між Башою по всі їхні дні.
And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.
І пішов Баша́, цар Ізраїлів, на Юду, і будував Раму́, щоб не дати нікому від Аси, царя Юдиного, вихо́дити та вхо́дити.
Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah and built Ramah, that he might permit no one to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.
І взяв Аса́ все срібло та золото, позостале в скарбни́цях храму Господнього та дому царе́вого, та й дав його до руки́ своїх слуг. І послав їх цар Аса до Бен-Гадада, сина Тавримонна, сина Хезйонового, сирійського царя, що сидів у Дама́ску, говорячи:
Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the house of the Lord and the treasures of the king’s house and gave them into the hands of his servants. And King Asa sent them to Ben-hadad the son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezion, king of Syria, who lived in Damascus, saying,
„Є умова між мною та між тобою, між ба́тьком моїм та між батьком твоїм. Ось послав я тобі да́ра, срібла та золота, — іди, зламай умову свою з Башею, царем Ізраїлевим, і нехай він віді́йде від ме́не“.
І послухався Бен-Гаддад царя Аси, і послав провідників свойого війська на Ізра́їлеві міста, та й побив Іййона, і Дана, і Авела, Бат-Мааху, і всього Кінерота та всю землю Нефтали́мову.
And Ben-hadad listened to King Asa and sent the commanders of his armies against the cities of Israel and conquered Ijon, Dan, Abel-beth-maacah, and all Chinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.
І сталося, як Баша це почув, то перестав будувати Раму, й осівся в Тірці́.
And when Baasha heard of it, he stopped building Ramah, and he lived in Tirzah.
А цар Аса́ закликав до по́слуху всього Юду, ніко́го не виключа́ючи, і вони повино́сили камі́ння Рами та її дерево, що з них будував був Баша. І цар Аса збудував з того Веніяминову Ґеву.
Then King Asa made a proclamation to all Judah, none was exempt, and they carried away the stones of Ramah and its timber, with which Baasha had been building, and with them King Asa built Geba of Benjamin and Mizpah.
А решта діл Аси та вся лица́рськість його, і все, що́ він зробив був, і міста, які побудував, — ось вони напи́сані в Книзі Хроніки Юдиних царів; тільки на час ста́рости своєї він заслаб був на свої но́ги.
Now the rest of all the acts of Asa, all his might, and all that he did, and the cities that he built, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? But in his old age he was diseased in his feet.
І спочив Аса з батька́ми своїми, і був похований з батька́ми своїми в Місті Давида, свого батька. А замість нього зацарював його син Йосафа́т.
And Asa slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father, and Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his place.
А над Ізраїлем зацарював Надав, Єровоамів син, у другому році Аси́, царя Юдиного, та й царюва́в над Ізраїлем два роки.

І робив він зле в Господніх оча́х, і ходив доро́гою батька свого та в гріху́ його, що вводив теж у гріх Ізраїля.
He did what was evil in the sight of the Lord and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin which he made Israel to sin.
І змо́вився на нього Баша, син Ахійї, з Іссаха́рового до́му, та й побив його Баша в Ґіббетоні филистимському. А Нада́в та ввесь Ізраїль обляга́ли Ґіббетон.
Baasha the son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him. And Baasha struck him down at Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines, for Nadab and all Israel were laying siege to Gibbethon.
І вбив його Баша в третьому році Аси́, царя Юдиного, та й зацарював замість нього.
So Baasha killed him in the third year of Asa king of Judah and reigned in his place.
І сталося, як зацарював він, то побив увесь Єровоамів дім, — не позоставив Єровоа́мові жодної душі, аж поки не ви́губив його, за словом Господа, що говорив через Свого раба шілонянина Ахійю,
And as soon as he was king, he killed all the house of Jeroboam. He left to the house of Jeroboam not one that breathed, until he had destroyed it, according to the word of the Lord that he spoke by his servant Ahijah the Shilonite.
за гріх Єровоа́ма, що грішив сам і що вводив у гріх Ізраїля, через свій гнів, яким гніви́в Господа, Бога Ізраїлевого.
It was for the sins of Jeroboam that he sinned and that he made Israel to sin, and because of the anger to which he provoked the Lord, the God of Israel.
А решта діл Надава та все, що́ він був зробив, — ось вони написані в Книзі Хроніки Ізраїлевих царів.

Третього року Аси́, царя Юдиного, зацарював Баша́, син Ахійїн, над усім Ізраїлем у Тірці, на двадцять і чотири роки.
