The Woman from Shunem Returns Home
Elisha had told the woman whose son he had brought back to life, “Take your family and move to some other place, for the LORD has called for a famine on Israel that will last for seven years.”

І встала та жінка, і зробила за словом Божого чоловіка. І пішла вона та її дім, і заме́шкала в филистимському кра́ї сім літ.
So the woman did as the man of God instructed. She took her family and settled in the land of the Philistines for seven years.
І сталося напри́кінці семи років, вернулася та жінка з филистимського кра́ю, і пішла до царя благати за свій дім та за своє поле.
After the famine ended she returned from the land of the Philistines, and she went to see the king about getting back her house and land.
А цар говорив до Ґехазі, слуги Божого чоловіка, кажучи: „Розкажи мені про все те велике, що́ зробив Єлисей“.
As she came in, the king was talking with Gehazi, the servant of the man of God. The king had just said, “Tell me some stories about the great things Elisha has done.”
І сталося, як він оповідав цареві, що той воскресив померлого, аж ось та жінка, що він воскресив сина її, благає царя за свій дім та за своє поле.
And Gehazi was telling the king about the time Elisha had brought a boy back to life. At that very moment, the mother of the boy walked in to make her appeal to the king about her house and land.
“Look, my lord the king!” Gehazi exclaimed. “Here is the woman now, and this is her son — the very one Elisha brought back to life!”

І сказав Ґехазі: „Пане мій ца́рю, оце та жінка, і це той син її, що воскресив Єлисей!“
“Is this true?” the king asked her. And she told him the story. So he directed one of his officials to see that everything she had lost was restored to her, including the value of any crops that had been harvested during her absence.
І прийшов Єлисей до Дамаску, а Бен-Гадад, сирійський цар, хворий. І доне́сено йому, кажучи: „Божий чоловік прийшов аж сюди!“
Hazael Murders Ben-Hadad
Elisha went to Damascus, the capital of Aram, where King Ben-hadad lay sick. When someone told the king that the man of God had come,
І сказав цар до Газаїла: „Візьми в свою руку подару́нка, та й іди зустріти чоловіка Божого. І запитайся Господа через нього, кажучи: „Чи ви́дужаю я від оцієї хвороби?“
the king said to Hazael, “Take a gift to the man of God. Then tell him to ask the LORD, ‘Will I recover from this illness?’”
І пішов Газаїл спіткати його, і взяв подару́нка в руку свою́, та зо всього добра́ Дамаску тягару́ на сорок верблю́дів. І прийшов, і став перед ним та й сказав: „Син твій Бен-Гадад, цар сирійський, послав мене до тебе, питаючи: Чи видужаю я з оцієї хвороби?“
So Hazael loaded down forty camels with the finest products of Damascus as a gift for Elisha. He went to him and said, “Your servant Ben-hadad, the king of Aram, has sent me to ask, ‘Will I recover from this illness?’”
І сказав до нього Єлисей: „Іди, скажи йому: Жити — жи́тимеш, та Господь показав мені, що напевно помре він“.
And Elisha replied, “Go and tell him, ‘You will surely recover.’ But actually the LORD has shown me that he will surely die!”
І наставив він обличчя своє на нього, і довго вдивлявся, аж той збенте́жився. І заплакав Божий чоловік.
А Газаїл сказав: „Чого плаче мій пан?“ А той відказав: „Бо знаю, що ти зробиш лихо Ізраїлевим синам: їхні тверди́ні пустиш з огнем, і їхніх воякі́в позабива́єш мече́м, і дітей їхніх порозбиваєш, а їхнє вагітне́ — посічеш“.
“What’s the matter, my lord?” Hazael asked him.
Elisha replied, “I know the terrible things you will do to the people of Israel. You will burn their fortified cities, kill their young men with the sword, dash their little children to the ground, and rip open their pregnant women!”

А Газаїл сказав: „Та що таке твій раб, цей пес, що зробить таку велику річ?“ І сказав Єлисей: „Господь показав мені тебе царем над Сирією!“
І пішов він від Єлисея, і прийшов до свого пана. А той сказав йому: „Що́ говорив тобі Єлисей?“ І він сказав: „Говорив мені: жити — жи́тимеш!“
When Hazael left Elisha and went back, the king asked him, “What did Elisha tell you?”
And Hazael replied, “He told me that you will surely recover.”
And Hazael replied, “He told me that you will surely recover.”
I сталося другого дня, і взяв він покрива́ло, і намочив у воді, і поклав на його обличчя, — і той помер. І зацарював Газаїл замість нього.
But the next day Hazael took a blanket, soaked it in water, and held it over the king’s face until he died. Then Hazael became the next king of Aram.
А п'ятого року Йорама, Ахавого сина, Ізраїлевого царя, за Йосафата, Юдиного царя, зацарював Єгорам, син Йосафатів, цар Юдин.
Jehoram Rules in Judah
Jehoram son of King Jehoshaphat of Judah began to rule over Judah in the fifth year of the reign of Joram son of Ahab, king of Israel.
Він був віку тридцяти й двох літ, коли зацарював, а царював вісім літ в Єрусалимі.
Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years.
І ходив він дорогою Ізраїлевих царів, як робив Ахавів дім, бо Ахавова дочка́ була йому за жінку. І робив він зло в Господніх оча́х.
But Jehoram followed the example of the kings of Israel and was as wicked as King Ahab, for he had married one of Ahab’s daughters. So Jehoram did what was evil in the LORD’s sight.
Та не хотів Господь погубити Юду ради раба Свого Давида, як обіцяв був йому дати світильника йому та синам його по всі дні.
But the LORD did not want to destroy Judah, for he had promised his servant David that his descendants would continue to rule, shining like a lamp forever.
За його днів збунтува́вся був Едом, — вийшли з-під Юдиної руки, і настанови́ли над собою царя.
During Jehoram’s reign, the Edomites revolted against Judah and crowned their own king.
І пішов Йорам до Цаіру, а з ним усі колесни́ці. І сталося, коли він уночі встав і побив Едома, що оточив був його, і керівникі́в колесни́ць, то народ повтікав до наметів своїх.
І збунтувався Едом, і вийшов з-під Юдиної руки, і так є аж до цього дня. Тоді того ча́су збунтувалася й Лівна.
So Edom has been independent from Judah to this day. The town of Libnah also revolted about that same time.
А решта діл Йорама, та все, що́ він зробив, ось вони написані в Книзі Хроніки Юдиних царів.
The rest of the events in Jehoram’s reign and everything he did are recorded in The Book of the History of the Kings of Judah.
І спочив Йорам із батька́ми своїми, і був похо́ваний із батьками своїми в Давидовому Місті, а замість нього зацарював син його Аха́зія.
When Jehoram died, he was buried with his ancestors in the City of David. Then his son Ahaziah became the next king.

Ahaziah Rules in Judah
Ahaziah son of Jehoram began to rule over Judah in the twelfth year of the reign of Joram son of Ahab, king of Israel.
Ахазія був віку двадцяти і двох літ, коли він зацарював, і царював він один рік в Єрусалимі. А ім'я́ його матері — Аталія, дочка́ Омрі, Ізраїлевого царя.
Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem one year. His mother was Athaliah, a granddaughter of King Omri of Israel.
І ходив він дорогою Ахавого дому, і робив зло в Господніх оча́х, як і Ахавів дім, бо він був зять Ахавого дому.
Ahaziah followed the evil example of King Ahab’s family. He did what was evil in the LORD’s sight, just as Ahab’s family had done, for he was related by marriage to the family of Ahab.
І пішов він з Йорамом, Ахавовим сином, на війну з Газаїлом, сирійським царем, до ґілеадського Рамоту, та побили сирі́яни Йорама.
Ahaziah joined Joram son of Ahab in his war against King Hazael of Aram at Ramoth-gilead. When the Arameans wounded King Joram in the battle,
І вернувся цар Йорам лікуватися в Їзрее́лі від тих ран, що вчинили йому сирі́яни в Рамі, як він воював з Газаїлом, сирійським царем. А Ахазія, Єгорамів син, цар Юдин, зійшов побачити Йорама, Ахавового сина, в Їзреелі, бо той був слаби́й.
