Now when David reached old age, he made his son Solomon king over Israel.

І зібрав він усіх Ізраїлевих князі́в, і священиків та Левитів.
And he gathered together all the leaders of Israel with the priests and the Levites.
І були перелі́чені Левити від віку тридцяти років і вище, і було число їх, за їхніми го́ловами, за мужчинами — тридцять і вісім тисяч.
Offices of the Levites
The Levites were numbered from thirty years old and upward, and their number by census of men was 38,000.
Із них для керува́ння над роботою Господнього дому — двадцять і чотири тисячі, а урядників та суддів — шість тисяч,
Of these, 24,000 were to oversee the work of the house of the LORD; and 6,000 were officers and judges,
і чотири тисячі придве́рних, і чотири тисячі тих, що славлять Господа на музичних знаря́ддях, „які я зробив на сла́влення“.
and 4,000 were gatekeepers, and 4,000 were praising the LORD with the instruments which David made for giving praise.
І поділив їх Давид на черги за синами Левія, — для Ґершона, Кегата та Мерарі.
David divided them into divisions according to the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
Ладанові сини: голова Єгіїл, і Зетам, і Йоїл, троє.
The sons of Ladan were Jehiel the first and Zetham and Joel, three.
Сини Шім'ї: Шеломіт, і Хазаїл, і Гаран, троє, вони го́лови ба́тьківських домів Ладана.
The sons of Shimei were Shelomoth and Haziel and Haran, three. These were the heads of the fathers’ households of Ladan.
А сини Шім'ї: Яхат, Зіза, і Єуш, і Берія, — оце сини Шім'ї, четверо.
The sons of Shimei were Jahath, Zina, Jeush and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei.
І був Яхат головою, а Зіза другий, а Єуш та Берія не мали багато синів, і стали за один ба́тьківський дім при переліченні.
Jahath was the first and Zizah the second; but Jeush and Beriah did not have many sons, so they became a father’s household, one class.
Кегатові сини: Амрам, Іцгар, Хеврон та Уззіїл, четверо.
Kohathites
The sons of Kohath were four: Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel.
Амрамові сини: Аарон та Мойсей. І був відді́лений Аарон, щоб посвятити його до Святого Святих, його та синів його аж навіки, щоб кадити перед лицем Господа, щоб служити Йому та щоб благословляти Ім'ям Його аж навіки.
The sons of Amram were Aaron and Moses. And Aaron was set apart to sanctify him as most holy, he and his sons forever, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister to Him and to bless in His name forever.
А Мойсей — Божий чоловік, сини його полі́чені до Левієвого племени.
But as for Moses the man of God, his sons were named among the tribe of Levi.
А сини Еліезерові були́: Рехавія, голова; і не було́ в Еліезера інших синів, а сини Рехавії сильно помно́жились.
The son of Eliezer was Rehabiah the chief; and Eliezer had no other sons, but the sons of Rehabiah were very many.
Сини Хевронові: Єрійя — голова, Амарія — другий, Яхазіїл — третій, і Єкам'ам — четвертий.
The sons of Hebron were Jeriah the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third and Jekameam the fourth.
Сини Уззіїлові: Міхал — голова, а Їшшійя — другий.
The sons of Uzziel were Micah the first and Isshiah the second.
Сини Мерарієві: Махлі й Муші. Сини Махлі: Елеазар і Кіш.
Merarites
The sons of Merari were Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli were Eleazar and Kish.
І помер Елеазар, і не було в нього сині́в, бо тільки до́чки, і їх побрали собі Кішові сини, їхні брати́.
Eleazar died and had no sons, but daughters only, so their brothers, the sons of Kish, took them as wives.
Сини́ Мушієві: Махлі, і Едер, і Єремот, — троє.
The sons of Mushi were three: Mahli, Eder and Jeremoth.
Оце сини́ Левієві за домом батьків їх, голови дому батьків за перегля́ненням їхнім, числом іме́н за особами їх, що чинили роботу для будо́ви Господнього дому, від віку двадцяти років і вище.
Duties Revised
These were the sons of Levi according to their fathers’ households, even the heads of the fathers’ households of those of them who were counted, in the number of names by their census, doing the work for the service of the house of the LORD, from twenty years old and upward.
Бо Давид сказав: Господь, Бог Ізраїля, дав мир Своєму наро́дові, і він осівся в Єрусалимі аж навіки.
For David said, “The LORD God of Israel has given rest to His people, and He dwells in Jerusalem forever.
І також Левитам не треба носити скинії та всіх рече́й її для служби їй“,
“Also, the Levites will no longer need to carry the tabernacle and all its utensils for its service.”
бо за останніми наказами Давида вони становлять число Левієвих сині́в від віку двадцяти літ і вище.
For by the last words of David the sons of Levi were numbered from twenty years old and upward.
Бо їхнє стано́вище — при руці Ааронових синів для служби Господнього дому над подві́р'ями, і над кімна́тами, і над чистістю усіх святощів та роботи служби Господнього дому,
For their office is to assist the sons of Aaron with the service of the house of the LORD, in the courts and in the chambers and in the purifying of all holy things, even the work of the service of the house of God,
і при хлібі виставні́м, і при пшеничній муці на хлі́бну жертву та на прісні́ коржі, і при ско́вородах, і при пра́женні, і при всякій мірі ваги та мірі довжини́.
and with the showbread, and the fine flour for a grain offering, and unleavened wafers, or what is baked in the pan or what is well-mixed, and all measures of volume and size.
І щоб ставати щора́нку на подяку та на хвалу Господа, і так і на вечір.
They are to stand every morning to thank and to praise the LORD, and likewise at evening,
І при всякому спа́ленні цілопа́лень для Господа на суботи, на молодики́, і на свята в числі за правом на них, за́вжди перед лицем Господнім.
and to offer all burnt offerings to the LORD, on the sabbaths, the new moons and the fixed festivals in the number set by the ordinance concerning them, continually before the LORD.
І чини́ли вони охорону скинії заповіту, і сторо́жу святині, і охорону Ааронових синів, своїх братів, при службі Господнього дому.
Thus they are to keep charge of the tent of meeting, and charge of the holy place, and charge of the sons of Aaron their relatives, for the service of the house of the LORD.
