І сказав цар Давид до всього збору: „Син мій Соломон, що його одного Бог вибрав, ще молодий та тенді́тний, а ця праця — велика, бо не для люди́ни ця будова, а для Господа Бога.

Offerings for the Temple

And David the king said to all the assembly, “Solomon my son, whom alone God has chosen, is young and inexperienced, and the work is great, for the palace will not be for man but for the Lord God.

А я всією своєю силою пригото́вив для храму свого Бога золото на золоті речі, і срібло — на срібні, і мідь — на мідяні, і залізо — на залізні, і дерево — на дерев'я́ні, камі́ння шога́мське та до оправ, каміння нофе́хське та кольоро́ве, і всякий дорогий камінь та бе́зліч мармуро́вого камі́ння.

So I have provided for the house of my God, so far as I was able, the gold for the things of gold, the silver for the things of silver, and the bronze for the things of bronze, the iron for the things of iron, and wood for the things of wood, besides great quantities of onyx and stones for setting, antimony, colored stones, all sorts of precious stones and marble.

І ще, через моє зами́лування до дому Бога мого, є в мене скарб власного золота та срібла, — і його я віддав для дому свого Бога, понад усе, що я заготовив для святого храму:

Moreover, in addition to all that I have provided for the holy house, I have a treasure of my own of gold and silver, and because of my devotion to the house of my God I give it to the house of my God:

три тисячі талантів золота, офі́рського золота, і сім тисяч очи́щеного срібла на покриття́ стін тих домів;

3,000 talentsa of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and 7,000 talents of refined silver, for overlaying the walls of the house,b

на кожну золоту річ та на кожну срібну, і на всяку працю рукою майстрів. І хто ще же́ртвує, щоб сьогодні напо́внити свою́ ру́ку поже́ртвою для Господа?“

and for all the work to be done by craftsmen, gold for the things of gold and silver for the things of silver. Who then will offer willingly, consecrating himselfc today to the Lord?”

І стали же́ртвувати начальники ба́тьківських ро́дів та начальники Ізраїлевих племе́н, і тисячники та сотники, і начальники праці для царя.

Then the leaders of fathers’ houses made their freewill offerings, as did also the leaders of the tribes, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and the officers over the king’s work.

І дали́ вони на роботу Божого дому золота п'ять тисяч тала́нтів та десять тисяч даре́йків, і срібла десять тисяч талантів, і міді десять тисяч і вісім тисяч талантів, а заліза сто тисяч талантів.

They gave for the service of the house of God 5,000 talents and 10,000 daricsd of gold, 10,000 talents of silver, 18,000 talents of bronze and 100,000 talents of iron.

А в кого знайшло́ся при ньому дорогоцінне каміння, ті дали його до скарбни́ці Господнього дому, до руки Ґершонівця Єхіїла.

And whoever had precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of the Lord, in the care of Jehiel the Gershonite.

9

І раді́в народ за їхню жертву, бо вони же́ртвували Господе́ві з ці́лого серця, а також цар Давид радів великою радістю.

Then the people rejoiced because they had given willingly, for with a whole heart they had offered freely to the Lord. David the king also rejoiced greatly.

10

І поблагослови́в Давид Господа на оча́х усього збору. І сказав Давид: „Благословенний Ти, Господи, Боже Ізраїля, нашого батька, від віку й аж до віку!

David Prays in the Assembly

Therefore David blessed the Lord in the presence of all the assembly. And David said: “Blessed are you, O Lord, the God of Israel our father, forever and ever.

11

Твоя, Господи, могу́тність і сила, і ве́лич, і вічність, і слава, і все на небеса́х та на землі! Твої, Господи, ца́рства, і Ти підне́сений над усім за Голову!

Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all.

12

І бага́тство та слава — від Те́бе, і Ти пануєш над усім, і в руці Твоїй сила та хоро́брість, і в руці Твоїй — побільши́ти та зміцни́ти все.

12

Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all.

13

А тепер, Боже наш, ми дякуємо Тобі, і славимо Ім'я́ Твоєї ве́личі.

13

And now we thank you, our God, and praise your glorious name.

14

І хто бо я, і хто народ мій, що маємо силу так же́ртвувати, як це? Бо все це — від Тебе, і з Твоєї руки дали́ ми Тобі.

14

“But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able thus to offer willingly? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you.

15

Бо ми прихо́дьки перед лицем Твоїм та чужи́нці, як усі наші батьки́! Наші дні на землі — мов та тінь, і немає трива́лого!

15

For we are strangers before you and sojourners, as all our fathers were. Our days on the earth are like a shadow, and there is no abiding.e

16

Господи, Боже наш, уся ця бе́зліч, яку ми нагото́вили на збудува́ння Тобі храму для Ймення Твоєї святости, — із Твоєї руки́ вона, і все це — Твоє!

O Lord our God, all this abundance that we have provided for building you a house for your holy name comes from your hand and is all your own.

17

І я знаю, Боже мій, що Ти виві́дуєш серце й любиш щирість. У щирості серця свого я поже́ртвував це все, а тепер бачу я з радістю наро́д Твій, який знахо́диться тут, що жертвує себе Тобі.

I know, my God, that you test the heart and have pleasure in uprightness. In the uprightness of my heart I have freely offered all these things, and now I have seen your people, who are present here, offering freely and joyously to you.

18

Господи, Боже Авраама, Ісака та Якова, наших батькі́в, — збережи ж навіки цей на́прямок думо́к серця наро́ду Твого, і міцно скеру́й їхнє серце до Себе!

O Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep forever such purposes and thoughts in the hearts of your people, and direct their hearts toward you.

19

А моєму синові Соломонові дай серце ці́ле, щоб вико́нувати за́повіді Твої, свідо́цтва Твої та устави Твої, і щоб чинити все, і щоб збудувати цю тверди́ню, яку я пригото́вив!“

19

Grant to Solomon my son a whole heart that he may keep your commandments, your testimonies, and your statutes, performing all, and that he may build the palace for which I have made provision.”

20

І сказав Давид до всього збору: „Поблагословіть же Господа, вашого Бога!“ І ввесь збір поблагословив Господа, Бога своїх батькі́в, — і нахили́лися, і вклонилися всі до землі Господе́ві й царе́ві!

Then David said to all the assembly, “Bless the Lord your God.” And all the assembly blessed the Lord, the God of their fathers, and bowed their heads and paid homage to the Lord and to the king.

21

І прине́сли вони для Господа жертви, і спалили цілопа́лення для Господа другого дня від того дня, — тисячу бичків, тисячу барані́в, тисячу ове́чок, і ливні їхні жертви, і бе́зліч жертов за всього Ізраїля.

And they offered sacrifices to the Lord, and on the next day offered burnt offerings to the Lord, 1,000 bulls, 1,000 rams, and 1,000 lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel.

22

І вони їли й пили́ перед Господом того дня з великою радістю, і вдруге настанови́ли Соломона, Давидового сина, і пома́зали його́ Господе́ві на володаря, а Садо́ка на священика.

And they ate and drank before the Lord on that day with great gladness.

Solomon Anointed King

And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and they anointed him as prince for the Lord, and Zadok as priest.

23

І сів Соломо́н на Господньому тро́ні за царя на місці свого батька Давида, і щасти́ло йому, і його слухався ввесь Ізра́їль.

Then Solomon sat on the throne of the Lord as king in place of David his father. And he prospered, and all Israel obeyed him.

24

І всі князі́ та ли́царі, а також усі сини́ царя Давида піддали́ся під Соломона.

24

All the leaders and the mighty men, and also all the sons of King David, pledged their allegiance to King Solomon.

25

І Господь ви́соко звели́чив Соломона на оча́х усього Ізраїля, і дав на нього вели́чність царства, якої не було перед ним ані на жодному царе́ві над Ізраїлем.

25

And the Lord made Solomon very great in the sight of all Israel and bestowed on him such royal majesty as had not been on any king before him in Israel.

26

І Давид, син Єссе́їв, царюва́в над усім Ізра́їлем.

The Death of David

Thus David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel.

27

А дні, що він царював над Ізраїлем, були сорок літ: у Хевро́ні царював він сім років, а в Єрусалимі царював тридцять і три.

27

The time that he reigned over Israel was forty years. He reigned seven years in Hebron and thirty-three years in Jerusalem.

28

І поме́р він у добрій сивині́, ситий днями, бага́тством та славою, а замість нього зацарював син його Соломо́н.

28

Then he died at a good age, full of days, riches, and honor. And Solomon his son reigned in his place.

29

А діла́ царя Давида, перші й останні, ось вони описані в історії прови́дця Самуїла, і в історії пророка Ната́на, і в історії прозорли́вця Ґада,

Now the acts of King David, from first to last, are written in the Chronicles of Samuel the seer, and in the Chronicles of Nathan the prophet, and in the Chronicles of Gad the seer,

30

ра́зом з усім царством його, і лица́рськістю його́ та часами, що перейшли над ним і над Ізраїлем, та над усіма́ царствами тих країв.

with accounts of all his rule and his might and of the circumstances that came upon him and upon Israel and upon all the kingdoms of the countries.
