Micaiah Warns Ahab
Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance; and by marriage he allied himself with Ahab.

А по кількох ро́ках пішов він до Ахава до Самарії. І Ахав нарізав багато худоби дрібно́ї та худоби великої йому́ та наро́дові, що з ним, і намовив його піти на ґілеадський Рамот.
After some years he went down to visit Ahab in Samaria; and Ahab killed sheep and oxen in abundance for him and the people who were with him, and persuaded him to go up with him to Ramoth Gilead.
І сказав Ахав, цар Ізраїлів, до Йосафата, царя Юдиного: „Чи пі́деш зо мною до ґілеадського Рамоту?“ А той відказав йому: „Я — як ти, народ мій — як твій народ, і буду з тобою на війні“.
So Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, “Will you go with me against Ramoth Gilead?”
And he answered him, “I am as you are, and my people as your people; we will be with you in the war.”
And he answered him, “I am as you are, and my people as your people; we will be with you in the war.”
І сказав Йосафат до Ізраїлевого царя: „Ви́відай зараз слово Господнє!“
Also Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “Please inquire for the word of the Lord today.”
І зібрав Ізраїлів цар пророків, чотири сотні чоловіка, та й сказав до них: „Чи йти нам на війну на ґілеадський Рамот, чи занеха́ти?“ А ті сказали: „Іди, і Бог дасть його в цареву руку!“
Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, four hundred men, and said to them, “Shall we go to war against Ramoth Gilead, or shall I refrain?”
So they said, “Go up, for God will deliver it into the king’s hand.”
So they said, “Go up, for God will deliver it into the king’s hand.”
І сказав Йосафат: „Чи нема тут іще Господнього пророка, — і зверні́мось до нього“.
І сказав Ізраїлів цар до Йосафата: „Є ще один муж, щоб через нього звернутися до Господа. Та я нена́виджу його, бо він не пророкує на мене добре, а по всі дні свої тільки лихе. Це Міхе́й, син Їмлин“. А Йосафат відказав: „Нехай цар не говорить таке!“
So the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is still one man by whom we may inquire of the Lord; but I hate him, because he never prophesies good concerning me, but always evil. He is Micaiah the son of Imla.”
And Jehoshaphat said, “Let not the king say such things!”
And Jehoshaphat said, “Let not the king say such things!”
І покликав Ізраїлів цар одного е́внуха й сказав: „Приведи скоріше Міхе́я, Їмлиного сина!“
Then the king of Israel called one of his officers and said, “Bring Micaiah the son of Imla quickly!”
А цар Ізраїлів та Йосафат, цар Юдин, сиділи кожен на троні своїм, повби́рані в шати; а сиділи вони при вході брами Самарії, а всі пророки пророкува́ли перед ними.
The king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah, clothed in their robes, sat each on his throne; and they sat at a threshing floor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.
А Цідкійя, Кенаанин син, зробив собі залізні ро́ги й сказав: „Так сказав Господь: Оцим будеш бода́ти сиріян аж до ви́гублення їх!“
Now Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah had made horns of iron for himself; and he said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘With these you shall gore the Syrians until they are destroyed.’ ”
І всі пророки пророкува́ли так, говорячи: „Вихо́дь до ґілеадського Рамоту, і май успіх, — і Господь дасть його в цареву руку!“
And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, “Go up to Ramoth Gilead and prosper, for the Lord will deliver it into the king’s hand.”
А той послане́ць, що пішов покликати Міхе́я, говорив до ньо́го, кажучи: „Ось слова тих пророків, — одноу́сно звіщають цареві добро. Нехай же буде слово твоє таке, як кожного з них, — і ти говори́тимеш добре“.
Then the messenger who had gone to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, “Now listen, the words of the prophets with one accord encourage the king. Therefore please let your word be like the word of one of them, and speak encouragement.”
І сказав Міхе́й: „Як живий Господь, — те, що́ скаже Господь, тільки те говоритиму!“
And Micaiah said, “As the Lord lives, whatever my God says, that I will speak.”
І прийшов він до царя, а цар сказав до нього: „Міхе́ю, чи йти на війну до ґілеадського Рамоту, чи занеха́ти?“ А той відказав: „Вийдіть, і будете мати успіх, — і вони будуть дані в вашу руку“.
Then he came to the king; and the king said to him, “Micaiah, shall we go to war against Ramoth Gilead, or shall I refrain?”
And he said, “Go and prosper, and they shall be delivered into your hand!”
And he said, “Go and prosper, and they shall be delivered into your hand!”
І сказав йому цар: „Аж скільки разі́в я заприсягав тебе, що ти не говори́тимеш мені нічо́го, тільки правду в Ім'я́ Господа?“
So the king said to him, “How many times shall I make you swear that you tell me nothing but the truth in the name of the Lord?”
А той відказав: „Я бачив усього Ізраїля, розпоро́шеного по гора́х, немов вівці, що не мають пастуха. І сказав Господь: Немає в них пана, — нехай ве́рнуться з ми́ром кожен до дому свого!“
Then he said, “I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. And the Lord said, ‘These have no master. Let each return to his house in peace.’ ”
І сказав Ізраїлів цар до Йосафата: „Чи ж не казав я тобі, — він не буде пророкувати мені доброго, а тільки лихе?“
And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Did I not tell you he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?”
А Міхе́й відказав: „Тому́ послухайте Господнього слова: Бачив я Господа, що сидів на престолі Своїм, а все небесне ві́йсько стояло по правиці Його та по лівиці Його.
Then Micaiah said, “Therefore hear the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing on His right hand and His left.
І сказав Господь: Хто намовить Ахава, Ізраїлевого царя, і він вийде й упаде́ в ґілеадському Рамоті? І говорили: той говорив так, а той говорив так.
And the Lord said, ‘Who will persuade Ahab king of Israel to go up, that he may fall at Ramoth Gilead?’ So one spoke in this manner, and another spoke in that manner.
І вийшов дух, і став перед Господнім лицем та й сказав: Я намо́влю його! І сказав йому Господь: Чим?
Then a spirit came forward and stood before the Lord, and said, ‘I will persuade him.’ The Lord said to him, ‘In what way?’
А той відказав: Я вийду й стану духом неправди в устах усіх його пророків. А Господь сказав: Ти намовиш, а також переможеш; вийди та й зроби так!
So he said, ‘I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ And the Lord said, ‘You shall persuade him and also prevail; go out and do so.’
А тепер оце Господь дав духа неправди в уста оцих твоїх пророків, і Господь говорив на тебе недобре“.
Therefore look! The Lord has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these prophets of yours, and the Lord has declared disaster against you.”
І підійшов Цідкійя, Кенаанин син, і вдарив Міхея по щоці́ та й сказав: „Кудою це перейшов Дух Господній від мене, щоб говорити з тобою?“
Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, “Which way did the spirit from the Lord go from me to speak to you?”
А Міхей відказав: „Ось ти побачиш це того дня, коли вві́йдеш до внутрішньої кімна́ти, щоб схова́тися“.
And Micaiah said, “Indeed you shall see on that day when you go into an inner chamber to hide!”
І сказав Ізраїлів цар: „Візьміть Міхе́я, і відведіть його до Амона, зверхника міста, та до Йоаша, царевого сина,
Then the king of Israel said, “Take Micaiah, and return him to Amon the governor of the city and to Joash the king’s son;
та й скажете: Отак сказав цар: Посадіть оцього до в'язни́чного дому, і давайте йому їсти скупо хліба й скупо води, аж поки я не верну́ся з миром“.
and say, ‘Thus says the king: “Put this fellow in prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and water of affliction, until I return in peace.” ’ ”
А Міхе́й відказав: „Якщо справді ве́рнешся ти з миром, то не говорив Господь через мене“. І до того сказав: „Слухайте це, усі люди!“
But Micaiah said, “If you ever return in peace, the Lord has not spoken by me.” And he said, “Take heed, all you people!”
І вийшов Ізраїлів цар та Йосафат, цар Юдин, до ґілеадського Рамоту.
Ahab Dies in Battle
So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth Gilead.

І сказав Ізраїлів цар до Йосафата: „Я переберуся й піду́ на бій, а ти вбери свої шати!“ І перебрався Ізраїлів цар, і пішли на бій.
And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “I will disguise myself and go into battle; but you put on your robes.” So the king of Israel disguised himself, and they went into battle.
А сирійський цар наказав зверхникам своїх колесни́ць, говорячи: „Не воюйте ні з мали́м, ні з великим, а тільки з сами́м Ізраїлевим царем!“
Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of the chariots who were with him, saying, “Fight with no one small or great, but only with the king of Israel.”
І сталося, як зверхники колесни́ць побачили Йонатана, то вони сказали: „Це Ізраїлів цар!“ І вони оточи́ли його, щоб воювати. І закричав Йосафат, і Господь допоміг йому, і Бог звабив їх від нього.
So it was, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, “It is the king of Israel!” Therefore they surrounded him to attack; but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the Lord helped him, and God diverted them from him.
І сталося, як зверхники колесни́ць побачили, що це не Ізраїлів цар, то повернули від нього.
For so it was, when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.
А один чоловік зне́хотя натягнув лука, та й ударив Ізраїлевого царя між підв'я́занням пояса та між па́нцерем. А той сказав візникові: „Заверни назад, і випровадь мене від війська, бо я ра́нений“...
І збільшився бій того дня, а Ізраїлів цар був поста́влений на колесни́ці проти сирі́ян аж до вечора. І помер він під час за́ходу сонця...
The battle increased that day, and the king of Israel propped himself up in his chariot facing the Syrians until evening; and about the time of sunset he died.
