А сьо́мого року зміцнився Єгояда й прийняв сотників: Азарію, Єрохамового сина, і Ізмаїла, сина Єгохананового, і Азарію, сина Оведового, і Маасею, сина Адаї, і Елісафата, сина Зіхрієвого, — в умову з собою.
In the seventh year Jehoiada showed his strength. He made a covenant with the commanders of units of a hundred: Azariah son of Jeroham, Ishmael son of Jehohanan, Azariah son of Obed, Maaseiah son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat son of Zikri.
І обійшли вони Юду, і зібрали зо всіх Юдиних міст Левитів та голів Ізраїлевих домів, і прийшли до Єрусалиму.
They went throughout Judah and gathered the Levites and the heads of Israelite families from all the towns. When they came to Jerusalem,
І ввесь збір склав у Божому домі умову з царем. І сказав їм Єгояда: „Оце царськи́й син буде царювати, як говорив Господь про Давидових синів.
the whole assembly made a covenant with the king at the temple of God.

Оце та річ, яку зробите: третина з вас, що прихо́дите в суботу, із священиків та з Левитів, будете за придве́рних біля порогів.
Now this is what you are to do: A third of you priests and Levites who are going on duty on the Sabbath are to keep watch at the doors,
А третина — при царсько́му домі, а третина — при брамі Єсод, а ввесь наро́д — у подві́р'ях Господнього дому.
a third of you at the royal palace and a third at the Foundation Gate, and all the others are to be in the courtyards of the temple of the Lord.
І нехай не входить до Господнього дому ніхто, окрім священиків та тих, хто прислуго́вує із Левитів, — вони вві́йдуть, бо освя́чені вони, а ввесь народ буде пильнувати Господньої сторо́жі.
І оточать Левити царя навко́ло, кожен із своєю зброєю в руці своїй; а хто чужий увійшов би до дому, нехай буде забитий! І будете ви з царем при вході його та при виході його“.
The Levites are to station themselves around the king, each with weapon in hand. Anyone who enters the temple is to be put to death. Stay close to the king wherever he goes.”
І зробили Левити та ввесь Юда все, що наказав священик Єгояда. І взяли кожен людей своїх, що приходять у суботу та відходять у суботу, бо священик Єгояда не звільнив черг.
The Levites and all the men of Judah did just as Jehoiada the priest ordered. Each one took his men — those who were going on duty on the Sabbath and those who were going off duty — for Jehoiada the priest had not released any of the divisions.
І дав священик Єгояда сотникам ра́тища, і малі щити́, і інші щити́, що належали цареві Давидові, що були в Божому домі.
Then he gave the commanders of units of a hundred the spears and the large and small shields that had belonged to King David and that were in the temple of God.
І поставив він увесь народ, а кожен мав свою зброю в руці своїй, від правого боку дому аж до лівого боку дому, при же́ртівнику та при домі, навко́ло біля царя.
He stationed all the men, each with his weapon in his hand, around the king — near the altar and the temple, from the south side to the north side of the temple.
І ви́вели вони царсько́го сина, і поклали на нього корону та звої Зако́ну. І зробили вони його царем, і пома́зали його Єгояда та сини його, та й крикнули: „Нехай живе цар!“
Jehoiada and his sons brought out the king’s son and put the crown on him; they presented him with a copy of the covenant and proclaimed him king. They anointed him and shouted, “Long live the king!”
І почула Аталія голос наро́ду, що бігав та сла́вив царя, і прийшла до наро́ду до Господнього дому.
When Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and cheering the king, she went to them at the temple of the Lord.
І побачила вона, аж ось цар стоїть на помо́сті своїм при вході, а при царі зверхники та су́рми, а ввесь народ краю радіє та сурми́ть у су́рми, а співаки — з музичними знаря́ддями, що подавали до ві́дома знаки́ на хвалу́. І роздерла Аталія шати свої та й крикнула: „Змова, змова!“
She looked, and there was the king, standing by his pillar at the entrance. The officers and the trumpeters were beside the king, and all the people of the land were rejoicing and blowing trumpets, and musicians with their instruments were leading the praises. Then Athaliah tore her robes and shouted, “Treason! Treason!”
А священик Єгояда наказав сотникам, поставленим над ві́йськом, і сказав до них: „Виведіть її поміж шере́ги, а хто інший пі́де за нею, — нехай буде забитий мече́м!“ Бо священик сказав: „Не заб'єте її в Господньому домі!“
І зробили їй про́хід, і вона вийшла входом Кінської брами до царсько́го дому, і там забили її.
So they seized her as she reached the entrance of the Horse Gate on the palace grounds, and there they put her to death.
І склав Єгояда умову між собою й між усім наро́дом та між царем, щоб бути народом Господнім.
І ввійшов увесь наро́д до Ваалового дому, та й порозбива́ли його та же́ртівники його, і бовва́нів його зо́всім полама́ли, а Маттана, Ваалового священика, убили перед же́ртівниками.
All the people went to the temple of Baal and tore it down. They smashed the altars and idols and killed Mattan the priest of Baal in front of the altars.
А в Господньому домі Єгояда віддав уря́ди на руку священиків та Левитів, яких поділив Давид над Господнім домом, щоб прино́сити Господні цілопа́лення, як написано в Мойсеєвім Зако́ні, з радістю та зо співом, за уста́вом Давидовим.
Then Jehoiada placed the oversight of the temple of the Lord in the hands of the Levitical priests, to whom David had made assignments in the temple, to present the burnt offerings of the Lord as written in the Law of Moses, with rejoicing and singing, as David had ordered.
А при брамах Господнього дому поставив він придве́рних, щоб не ввійшов хто будь-чим нечистий.
He also stationed gatekeepers at the gates of the Lord’s temple so that no one who was in any way unclean might enter.
І взяв він сотників, і вельмож, і тих, що старшину́ють над наро́дом, та ввесь наро́д кра́ю, і відвели́ царя з Господнього дому. І ввійшли вони через горі́шню браму до царсько́го дому, і посадили царя на троні царства.
He took with him the commanders of hundreds, the nobles, the rulers of the people and all the people of the land and brought the king down from the temple of the Lord. They went into the palace through the Upper Gate and seated the king on the royal throne.
