І справив Йосія в Єрусалимі Пасху для Господа, і зарізали пасхальне ягня чотирнадцятого дня першого місяця.
І поставив він священиків на їхні стано́вища, і підбадьо́рував їх на службу Господнього дому.
Josiah also assigned the priests to their duties and encouraged them in their work at the Temple of the LORD.
І сказав він Левитам, наста́вникам усього Ізра́їля, посвя́ченим для Господа: „Дайте святого ковчега до храму, що його збудува́в Соломон, син Давидів, цар Ізраїлів. Нема пощо вам носити його на раме́нах, — служіть тепер Господе́ві, вашому Богові, та Його наро́дові, Ізраїлеві.
He issued this order to the Levites, who were to teach all Israel and who had been set apart to serve the LORD: “Put the holy Ark in the Temple that was built by Solomon son of David, the king of Israel. You no longer need to carry it back and forth on your shoulders. Now spend your time serving the LORD your God and his people Israel.
І приготу́йтеся за родом ваших батьків, за вашими че́ргами, за писа́нням Давида, Ізраїлевого царя, та за писа́нням його сина Соломона.
Report for duty according to the family divisions of your ancestors, following the directions of King David of Israel and the directions of his son Solomon.
І станьте в святині за ві́дділами ба́тьківських ро́дів ваших браті́в, синів народу, — а по́діл за ба́тьківськими домами в Левитів.
“Then stand in the sanctuary at the place appointed for your family division and help the families assigned to you as they bring their offerings to the Temple.
І заріжте пасха́льне ягня́, й освятіться, і приготу́йте для ваших братів, щоб робити за Господнім словом, даним через Мойсея“.
Slaughter the Passover lambs, purify yourselves, and prepare to help those who come. Follow all the directions that the LORD gave through Moses.”
І дав Йосі́я для лю́дських синів худоби дрібно́ї, ове́чок та молодих кіз, це все на пасха́льне ягня́ для кожного, хто знахо́дився в Єрусалимі, числом тридцять тисяч, а худоби великої — три тисячі. Це з набу́тку царе́вого.
Then Josiah provided 30,000 lambs and young goats for the people’s Passover offerings, along with 3,000 cattle, all from the king’s own flocks and herds.
А його зве́рхники дали́ на жертву для народу, для священиків та для Левитів: Хілкійя, і Захарій, і Єхіїл, старші́ в Божому домі, дали́ священикам на пасха́льні же́ртви дві тисячі й шість сотень худо́би дрібно́ї, а худоби великої — три тисячі.
The king’s officials also made willing contributions to the people, priests, and Levites. Hilkiah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, the administrators of God’s Temple, gave the priests 2,600 lambs and young goats and 300 cattle as Passover offerings.
А Конанія, і Шемая, і брат його Натанаїл, і Хашавія, і Єіїл, і Йозавад, зверхники Левитів, дали́ для Левитів на пасхальні же́ртви п'ять тисяч худо́би дрібно́ї, а худоби великої — п'ять сотень.
The Levite leaders — Conaniah and his brothers Shemaiah and Nethanel, as well as Hashabiah, Jeiel, and Jozabad — gave 5,000 lambs and young goats and 500 cattle to the Levites for their Passover offerings.
І була́ міцно встано́влена служба, — і стали священики на своїм стано́вищі, а Левити — при своїх че́ргах, за нака́зом царя.
When everything was ready for the Passover celebration, the priests and the Levites took their places, organized by their divisions, as the king had commanded.
І різали пасхальне ягня, а священики кропи́ли кров'ю, беручи́ з їхньої руки, а Левити здирали шкуру.
The Levites then slaughtered the Passover lambs and presented the blood to the priests, who sprinkled the blood on the altar while the Levites prepared the animals.
І відділи́ли, що було на цілопа́лення, щоб дати їх за ві́дділами, по ба́тьківських дома́х сина́м народу на прино́шення Господе́ві, як написано в Мойсеєвій книзі. І так зробили й з худобою великою.
They divided the burnt offerings among the people by their family groups, so they could offer them to the LORD as prescribed in the Book of Moses. They did the same with the cattle.
І пекли пасхальне ягня на огні, за постановою, а святі жертви варили в горшка́х, і в котла́х, і в горня́тах, і швидко не́сли всім синам народу.
Then they roasted the Passover lambs as prescribed; and they boiled the holy offerings in pots, kettles, and pans, and brought them out quickly so the people could eat them.
А потім навари́ли собі та священикам, бо священики, Ааро́нові сини, були зайняті прино́шенням цілопа́лення та ло́ю аж до ночі, то Левити нагото́вили ї́жі собі та священикам, Ааро́новим синам.
Afterward the Levites prepared Passover offerings for themselves and for the priests — the descendants of Aaron — because the priests had been busy from morning till night offering the burnt offerings and the fat portions. The Levites took responsibility for all these preparations.
А співаки́, Асафові сини, були на своїх місцях за нака́зом Давида, і Асафа, і Гемана, і Єдутуна, царе́вого прозорли́вця, а придве́рні були при кожній брамі, — їм не треба було відхо́дити від своїх робі́т, бо їхні брати́ Левити нагото́вили їм.
The musicians, descendants of Asaph, were in their assigned places, following the commands that had been given by David, Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun, the king’s seer. The gatekeepers guarded the gates and did not need to leave their posts of duty, for their Passover offerings were prepared for them by their fellow Levites.
I була міцно встано́влена вся Господня служба того дня, щоб спра́вити Па́сху й прине́сти цілопа́лення на Господньому же́ртвінику, за нака́зом царя Йосії.
The entire ceremony for the LORD’s Passover was completed that day. All the burnt offerings were sacrificed on the altar of the LORD, as King Josiah had commanded.
І Ізра́їлеві сини, що знахо́дилися там, справля́ли того ча́су Па́сху та свято Опрі́сноків сім день.
All the Israelites present in Jerusalem celebrated Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread for seven days.
І не справля́лася Па́сха, як ця, в Ізраїлі від днів пророка Самуїла, а всі Ізраїлеві царі не справляли такої, як ця Па́сха, що справив Йосія, і священики, і Левити, і ввесь Юда та Ізраїль, що знахо́дився там, та ме́шканці Єрусалиму.
Never since the time of the prophet Samuel had there been such a Passover. None of the kings of Israel had ever kept a Passover as Josiah did, involving all the priests and Levites, all the people of Jerusalem, and people from all over Judah and Israel.
Вісімнадцятого року царюва́ння Йосі́ї справля́лася ця Па́сха.
This Passover was celebrated in the eighteenth year of Josiah’s reign.
По всьому цьому, коли Йосі́я пригото́вив дім Божий, прийшов Нехо́, цар єгипетський, щоб воювати в Каркеміші над Ефратом, а Йосія вийшов навпроти нього.
І послав той до нього послів, говорячи: „Що́ мені до тебе, ца́рю Юдин? Не проти тебе прихо́джу я сьогодні, але проти дому, що воює зо мною. А Бог наказав мені спіши́ти. Не протився Богові, що зо мною, і нехай Він не знищить тебе!“
But King Neco sent messengers to Josiah with this message:
“What do you want with me, king of Judah? I have no quarrel with you today! I am on my way to fight another nation, and God has told me to hurry! Do not interfere with God, who is with me, or he will destroy you.”

Та Йосія не відвернувся від нього, але перебрався, щоб воювати з ним, і не послухався слів Нехо, що були з Божого нака́зу, і прийшов воювати в долині Меґіддо.
But Josiah refused to listen to Neco, to whom God had indeed spoken, and he would not turn back. Instead, he disguised himself and led his army into battle on the plain of Megiddo.
І ви́стрілили стрільці́ на царя Йосію. І сказав цар до своїх рабів: „Відведіть мене, бо я си́льно ра́нений“...
But the enemy archers hit King Josiah with their arrows and wounded him. He cried out to his men, “Take me from the battle, for I am badly wounded!”
І перевели́ його його раби з військової колесниці на його другий по́віз, і відве́зли його до Єрусалиму. І помер він, і був похований у гроба́х своїх батьків, а вся Юдея та Єрусалим були в жало́бі по Йосії.
So they lifted Josiah out of his chariot and placed him in another chariot. Then they brought him back to Jerusalem, where he died. He was buried there in the royal cemetery. And all Judah and Jerusalem mourned for him.
І Єремія співав жало́бну пісню по Йосії. А всі співаки́ та співа́чки оповіда́ли в жало́бних своїх пісня́х про Йосію, і так є аж до сьогодні, і дали їх за уставу для Ізраїля, і ось вони написані в „Жало́бних Пісня́х“.
The prophet Jeremiah composed funeral songs for Josiah, and to this day choirs still sing these sad songs about his death. These songs of sorrow have become a tradition and are recorded in The Book of Laments.
