„Аж до́ки смути́ти ви бу́дете душу мою, та души́ти словами мене?
How long will ye vex my soul, and break me in pieces with words?
Десять раз це мене ви соро́мите, гноби́ти мене не стида́єтесь!
These ten times have ye reproached me: ye are not ashamed that ye make yourselves strange to me.
Якщо справді зблуди́в я, то мій гріх при мені позоста́не.
And be it indeed that I have erred, mine error remaineth with myself.
Чи ви велича́єтесь справді над мною, і виказуєте мою га́ньбу на мене?
If indeed ye will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach:
Знайте тоді, що Бог скри́вдив мене, і тене́та Свої розточи́в надо мною!
Know now that God hath overthrown me, and hath compassed me with his net.
Ось „ґвалт!“ я кричу́, та не відповідає ніхто, голошу́, — та немає суду!
Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but there is no judgment.
Він дорогу мою оточи́в — і я не перейду́, Він поклав на стежки́ мої те́мряву!
He hath fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and he hath set darkness in my paths.
Він стягнув з мене славу мою і вінця́ зняв мені з голови!
He hath stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head.
Звідусі́ль Він ламає мене, — і я йду, наді́ю мою, як те дерево, ви́вернув Він.
He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: and mine hope hath he removed like a tree.
І на мене Свій гнів запали́в, і зарахува́в Він мене до Своїх ворогів:
He hath also kindled his wrath against me, and he counteth me unto him as one of his enemies.
полки́ Його ра́зом прихо́дять, і тору́ють на ме́не доро́гу свою, і табору́ють навко́ло наме́ту мого.
His troops come together, and raise up their way against me, and encamp round about my tabernacle.
Віддали́в Він від мене братів моїх, а знайо́мі мої почужі́ли для мене,
He hath put my brethren far from me, and mine acquaintance are verily estranged from me.
мої ближні відста́ли, і забу́ли про мене знайо́мі мої.
My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me.
Ме́шканці дому мого́, і служниці мої за чужого вважають мене́, — чужако́м я став в їхніх оча́х.
They that dwell in mine house, and my maids, count me for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight.
Я кличу свойо́го раба — і він відповіді не дає, хоч своїми уста́ми благаю його́.
I called my servant, and he gave me no answer; I intreated him with my mouth.
Мій дух став бридки́й для моєї дружи́ни, а мій за́пах — синам моєї утро́би.
My breath is strange to my wife, though I intreated for the children's sake of mine own body.
Навіть діти малі зневажають мене, — коли я встаю, то глузу́ють із мене.
Yea, young children despised me; I arose, and they spake against me.
Мої всі пові́рники бри́дяться мною, а кого я кохав — оберну́лись на мене.
All my inward friends abhorred me: and they whom I loved are turned against me.
До шкіри моєї й до тіла мого приліпилися кості мої, ще біля зубів лиш зосталася шкіра моя.
My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.
Змилуйтеся надо мною, о, змилуйтеся надо мною ви, ближні мої, бо Божа рука доторкну́лась мене!
Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me.
Чого́ ви мене переслідуєте, немов Бог, і не наси́чуєтесь моїм тілом?
Why do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?
О, коли б записати слова́ мої, о, коли б були в книжці вони позазна́чувані,
Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book!
коли б ри́льцем залізним та о́ливом в скелі навіки вони були ви́тесані!
That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever!
Та я знаю, що мій Викупи́тель живий, і останнього дня Він піді́йме із пороху
For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
цю шкіру мою, яка розпадається, і з тіла свойого я Бога побачу,
And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
сам я побачу Його, й мої очі побачать, а не очі чужі. Тануть ни́рки мої в моїм ну́трі!
Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.
Коли скажете ви: „На́що будемо гнати його́, коли́ корень справи знахо́диться в ньому!“
But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me?
