І заговорив шух'я́нин Білда́д та й сказав:
Bildad: Job Should Repent
Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,
Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,
„Аж доки ти бу́деш таке тереве́нити? І доки слова́ твоїх уст будуть вітром бурхли́вим?
How long wilt thou speak these things? and how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?
Чи Бог скри́влює суд, і хіба Всемогу́тній викри́влює правду?
Doth God pervert judgment? or doth the Almighty pervert justice?
Якщо твої діти згріши́ли Йому, то Він їх віддав в руку їх беззако́ння!
If thy children have sinned against him, and he have cast them away for their transgression;
Якщо ти зверта́тися будеш до Бога, і бу́деш блага́ти Всемогу́тнього,
If thou wouldest seek unto God betimes, and make thy supplication to the Almighty;
якщо чистий ти та безневи́нний, — то тепер Він тобі Свою милість пробу́дить, і напо́внить оселю твою справедли́вістю,
If thou wert pure and upright; surely now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.
і хоч твій поча́ток нужде́нний, але́ твій кінець буде ве́льми великий!
Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.
Поспитай в покоління давні́шого, і міцно збагни́ батьків їхніх, —
For inquire, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thyself to the search of their fathers:
бо ми ж учора́шні, й нічо́го не знаєм, бо тінь — наші дні на землі, —
(For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:)
отож вони на́вчать тебе, тобі скажуть, і з серця свойо́го слова́ подаду́ть:
Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?
Чи папі́рус росте без болота? Чи росте очере́т без води?
Can the rush grow up without mire? can the flag grow without water?
Він іще в доспіва́нні своїм, не зривається, але сохне раніш за всіля́ку траву:
Whilst it is yet in his greenness, and not cut down, it withereth before any other herb.
отакі то доро́ги всіх тих, хто забува́є про Бога! І згине надія безбожного,
So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite's hope shall perish:
бо його споді́вання — як те павути́ння, і як дім павукі́в — його певність
Whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider's web.
На свій дім опира́ється, та не встоїть, тримається міцно за ньо́го, — й не вде́ржиться він.
He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure.
Він зеленіє на сонці, й галу́зки його випина́ються понад садка́ його, —
He is green before the sun, and his branch shooteth forth in his garden.
на купі каміння сплело́ся коріння його, воно між камі́ння вросло́:
His roots are wrapped about the heap, and seeth the place of stones.
Якщо вирвуть його з його місця, то зречеться його́: тебе я не бачило!
If he destroy him from his place, then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen thee.
Така радість дороги його, а з по́роху інші ростуть.
Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the earth shall others grow.
Тож невинного Бог не цурається, і не буде тримати за ру́ку злочи́нців,
Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he help the evil doers:
аж напо́внить уста́ твої сміхом, а губи твої — криком радости...
Till he fill thy mouth with laughing, and thy lips with rejoicing.
