A soft answer turneth away fury; but a grievous word stirreth up anger.

Язик мудрих — то добре знання́, а уста́ нерозумних глупо́ту висло́влюють.
The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright; but the mouth of the foolish poureth out folly.
Очі Господні на кожному місці, — позира́ють на злих та на добрих.
The eyes of Jehovah are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
Язик ла́гідний — то дерево життя, а лука́вство його — залама́ння на дусі.
Gentleness of tongue is a tree of life; but crookedness therein is a breaking of the spirit.
Зневажає безумний напучення ба́тькове, а хто береже осторо́гу, стає розумніший.
A fool despiseth his father's instruction; but he that regardeth reproof becometh prudent.
Дім праведного — скарб великий, а в пло́ді безбожного — бе́злад.
In the house of a righteous [man] is much treasure; but in the revenue of a wicked [man] is disturbance.
Уста мудрих знання́ розсівають, а серце безглу́здих не так.
The lips of the wise disperse knowledge, but not so the heart of the foolish.
Жертва безбожних — оги́да для Господа, а молитва невинних — Його уподо́ба.
The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to Jehovah; but the prayer of the upright is his delight.
Господе́ві огида — дорога безбожного, а того, хто женеться за праведністю, Він кохає.
The way of a wicked [man] is an abomination to Jehovah; but him that pursueth righteousness he loveth.
Люта кара на то́го, хто путь оставляє, а хто осторо́гу нена́видить, той умирає.
Grievous correction is for him that forsaketh the path; he that hateth reproof shall die.
Шео́л й Аваддо́н перед Господом, — тим більше серця́ синів лю́дських!
Sheol and destruction are before Jehovah; how much more then the hearts of the children of men!
Насмі́шник не любить карта́ння собі, — він до мудрих не пі́де.
A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him; he will not go unto the wise.
Ра́дісне серце лице весели́ть, а при сму́тку серде́чному дух приголо́мшений.
A joyful heart maketh a cheerful countenance; but by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken.
Серце розумне шукає знання́, а уста безумних глупо́ту пасу́ть.
The heart of an intelligent [man] seeketh knowledge; but the mouth of the foolish feedeth on folly.
Нужде́нному всі́ дні лихі, кому ж добре на серці, у того гости́на постійно.
All the days of the afflicted are evil; but a cheerful heart is a continual feast.
Ліпше мале у Господньому стра́ху, ані ж скарб великий, та триво́га при то́му.
Better is little with the fear of Jehovah than great store and disquietude therewith.
Ліпша пожи́ва яри́нна, і при тому любов, аніж тучний віл, та нена́висть при то́му.
Better is a meal of herbs where love is, than a fatted ox and hatred therewith.
Гнівли́ва люди́на роздра́жнює сварку, терпели́ва ж у гніві вспоко́ює за́колот.
A furious man stirreth up contention; but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.
Дорога лінивого — то тернови́ння, а путь щирих — дорога гладка́.
The way of the sluggard is as a hedge of thorns; but the path of the upright is made plain.
Мудрий син тішить ба́тька свого́, а люди́на безумна пого́рджує матір'ю своєю́.
A wise son maketh a glad father; but a foolish man despiseth his mother.
Глупо́та — то радість для нерозумного, а люди́на розумна дорогою про́стою ходить.
Folly is joy to him that is void of sense; but a man of understanding regulateth his walk.
Ламаються за́думи з бра́ку пора́ди, при числе́нності ж ра́дників спо́вняться.
Without counsel purposes are disappointed; but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.
Радість люди́ні — у відповіді його уст, а слово на ча́сі своєму — яке воно добре!
A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth; and a word in its season, how good is it!
Путь життя для премудрого — уго́ру, щоб відда́люватись від шео́лу внизу́.
The path of life is upwards for the wise, that he may depart from Sheol beneath.
Дім пишних руйнує Госпо́дь, але ста́вить межу́ для вдови.
Jehovah plucketh up the house of the proud; but he establisheth the boundary of the widow.
Думки злого — оги́да для Господа, але чисті для Нього приє́мні слова́.
The thoughts of the evil [man] are an abomination to Jehovah; but pure words are pleasant.
Заже́рливий робить нещасним свій дім, хто ж дарунки нена́видить, той буде жити.
He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.
Серце праведного розмірко́вує про відповідь, а у́ста безбожних вибри́зкують зло.
The heart of a righteous [man] studieth to answer; but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.
Далекий Господь від безбожних, але́ справедливих молитву Він чує.
Jehovah is far from the wicked; but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
Світло оче́й тішить серце, добра звістка підкрі́плює ко́сті.
That which enlighteneth the eyes rejoiceth the heart; good tidings make the bones fat.
Ухо, що навча́ння життя вислухо́вує, буде перебува́ти між мудрими.
The ear that heareth the reproof of life shall abide among the wise.
Хто напу́чування не приймає, той не дбає про душу свою, а хто слухається осторо́ги, здобуде той розум.
He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul; but he that heareth reproof getteth sense.
