І прийшли до мене му́жі з Ізраїлевих старши́х, і посідали передо мною.
Idolatrous Elders Condemned
Then certain of the elders of Israel came to me and sat before me.
Then certain of the elders of Israel came to me and sat before me.
„Сину лю́дський, ці му́жі допустили своїх божкі́в у своє серце, а спотика́ння провини своєї поклали перед обличчям своїм. Чи ж можуть вони запи́тувати Мене?
“Son of man, these men have taken their idols into their hearts, and set the stumbling block of their iniquity before their faces. Should I indeed let myself be consulted by them?
Тому́ говори з ними, та й скажеш до них: Так говорить Господь Бог: Кожен чоловік з Ізраїлевого дому, що допу́стить своїх божкі́в у своє серце, а спотика́ння провини своєї покладе́ перед обличчям своїм, і при́йде до пророка, тому Я, Господь, відповім, згідно з цим, згідно з многото́ю його божкі́в,
Therefore speak to them and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: Any one of the house of Israel who takes his idols into his heart and sets the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face, and yet comes to the prophet, I the Lord will answer him as he comes with the multitude of his idols,
щоб схопи́ти тих з Ізраїлевого дому за їхнє серце, бо всі вони віддали́лися від Мене через своїх божкі́в!
that I may lay hold of the hearts of the house of Israel, who are all estranged from me through their idols.
Тому́ скажи до Ізраїлевого дому: Так говорить Господь Бог: Наверні́ться, і відступі́ть від ваших божкі́в, і від усіх ваших гидо́т відверні́ть свої обличчя!
“Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: Repent and turn away from your idols, and turn away your faces from all your abominations.
Бо кожен чоловік із Ізраїлевого дому або з чужи́нців, що ме́шкають серед Ізраїля, коли відсту́пить від Мене, і допустить своїх божкі́в у своє серце, і покладе спотика́ння своєї провини перед обличчям своїм, і при́йде до пророка, щоб запитати Мене, тому Я, Господь, відповім від Себе.
For any one of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who sojourn in Israel, who separates himself from me, taking his idols into his heart and putting the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face, and yet comes to a prophet to consult me through him, I the Lord will answer him myself.
І зверну Я лице́ Своє проти цього чоловіка, і вчиню́ його за знака та за припові́стку, і вигублю його з-посеред Свого наро́ду, і пізнаєте ви, що Я — Господь!
And I will set my face against that man; I will make him a sign and a byword and cut him off from the midst of my people, and you shall know that I am the Lord.
А пророк, коли б був зве́дений, і говорив би слово, — Я, Госпо́дь, зведу́ цього пророка, і простягну руку Свою на нього, і вигублю його з-посеред Свого народу Ізраїлевого!
And if the prophet is deceived and speaks a word, I, the Lord, have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand against him and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.
І понесу́ть вони свою провину, — яка провина того, хто питається, така буде провина пророка,
щоб не блуди́в уже Ізраїлів дім від Мене, і не занечи́щувався вже всіма своїми гріхами. І будуть вони Мені наро́дом, а Я буду їм Богом, говорить Госпо́дь Бог!“
that the house of Israel may no more go astray from me, nor defile themselves anymore with all their transgressions, but that they may be my people and I may be their God, declares the Lord God.”
І було́ мені слово Господнє таке:
Jerusalem Will Not Be Spared
And the word of the Lord came to me:
And the word of the Lord came to me:
„Сину лю́дський, коли згріши́ть проти Мене земля, спроневі́рюючи, то Я простягну́ Свою руку на неї, і зламаю їй хлібну підпору, і пошлю на неї голод, і ви́гублю з неї люди́ну й скоти́ну.
А коли б серед неї були три му́жі: Ной, Даниїл та Йов, вони в своїй справедливості врятували б лише свою вла́сну душу, говорить Господь Бог.
even if these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they would deliver but their own lives by their righteousness, declares the Lord God.
Коли б Я перепрова́див по землі люту звірину́, й обезлю́дніла б вона, і стала б вона спусто́шенням, так що ніхто не прохо́див би нею через ту звірину́,
“If I cause wild beasts to pass through the land, and they ravage it, and it be made desolate, so that no one may pass through because of the beasts,
то й ці три му́жі серед неї, — як живий Я, — говорить Господь Бог, — не врятують вони ні синів, ні дочо́к! Самі вони будуть врято́вані, а край стане спусто́шенням.
even if these three men were in it, as I live, declares the Lord God, they would deliver neither sons nor daughters. They alone would be delivered, but the land would be desolate.
Або коли б Я спровадив на цю землю меча, та й мече́ві сказав: „Пройди по кра́ю, і вигуби з нього люди́ну й скотину“,
“Or if I bring a sword upon that land and say, Let a sword pass through the land, and I cut off from it man and beast,
то ці три му́жі серед нього, як живий Я! — говорить Господь Бог, — не врятують синів, ні дочо́к, бо врятуються самі тільки вони!
though these three men were in it, as I live, declares the Lord God, they would deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they alone would be delivered.
Або коли б Я морови́цю послав до цієї землі, і вилив би на неї свою лютість у крові, щоб вигубити з неї люди́ну й скоти́ну,
“Or if I send a pestilence into that land and pour out my wrath upon it with blood, to cut off from it man and beast,
а Ной, Даниї́л та Йов були б серед неї, — як живий Я! — говорить Господь Бог, — ані сина, ані дочки́ не врятували б вони! Вони в своїй справедливості врятують тільки свою вла́сну душу.
even if Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, as I live, declares the Lord God, they would deliver neither son nor daughter. They would deliver but their own lives by their righteousness.
Бо так говорить Господь Бог: Хоч послав би Я на Єрусалим чотири Свої лихі при́суди: меча, і голод, і люту звірину́ та морови́цю, щоб вигубити з нього люди́ну та скоти́ну,
“For thus says the Lord God: How much more when I send upon Jerusalem my four disastrous acts of judgment, sword, famine, wild beasts, and pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast!
то все таки зали́шаться в ньому рештки, що будуть ви́проваджені, сини та до́чки. Ось вони вийдуть до вас, і ви побачите їхню дорогу та їхні вчинки, і будете потішені за те лихо, що Я навів на Єрусалим, за все, що Я навів був на нього.
But behold, some survivors will be left in it, sons and daughters who will be brought out; behold, when they come out to you, and you see their ways and their deeds, you will be consoled for the disaster that I have brought upon Jerusalem, for all that I have brought upon it.
І потішать вони вас, коли ви побачите їхню дорогу та їхні вчинки, і пізнаєте, що не нада́рмо зробив Я все, що зробив серед нього, говорить Госпо́дь Бог“.
They will console you, when you see their ways and their deeds, and you shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in it, declares the Lord God.”
