Hosea 10

    Ізра́їль — буйни́й виноград, що родить подібне собі. Та за многістю пло́ду свого він намно́жує же́ртівники, за добрістю кра́ю свого́ бовва́нські стовпи́ прикраша́є.

    Israel’s Sin and Captivity

    Israel empties his vine;
    He brings forth fruit for himself.
    According to the multitude of his fruit
    He has increased the altars;
    According to the bounty of his land
    They have embellished his sacred pillars.

    Облу́дне їхнє серце, тому винні тепер вони бу́дуть, Він їхні же́ртівники пони́щить поруйнує стовпи́ їхні.

    Their heart is divided;[a]
    Now they are held guilty.
    He will break down their altars;
    He will ruin their sacred pillars.

    Бо тепер вони кажуть: Нема в нас царя, бо ми не боялися Господа, а цар що́ нам зробить?

    For now they say,
    “We have no king,
    Because we did not fear the Lord.
    And as for a king, what would he do for us?”

    Говорять порожні слова́, кляну́ться фальши́во, коли́ заповіта склада́ють, і на грядка́х польови́х цвіте їхнє правосу́ддя, немов той поли́н.

    They have spoken words,
    Swearing falsely in making a covenant.
    Thus judgment springs up like hemlock in the furrows of the field.

    За телят Бет-Авену бояться мешка́нці Самарії, бо в жало́бі опини́вся через нього наро́д його, а жерці́ будуть плакати над ним, за славу його, що пішла на вигна́ння від нього.

    The inhabitants of Samaria fear
    Because of the calf[b] of Beth Aven.
    For its people mourn for it,
    And [c]its priests shriek for it —
    Because its glory has departed from it.

    Запрова́джений буде і він в Асирі́ю царе́ві великому в дар. Прийме сором Єфрем, і посоро́млений буде Ізраїль за раду свою.

    The idol also shall be carried to Assyria
    As a present for King Jareb.
    Ephraim shall receive shame,
    And Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel.

    Самарі́я загине; її цар — немов трі́ска ота́ на пове́рхні води!

    As for Samaria, her king is cut off
    Like a twig on the water.

    І поруйно́вані бу́дуть висо́ти Авена, Ізраїлів гріх, терни́на й будя́ччя зросте на їхніх же́ртівниках, і до гір вони скажуть: „Накрийте ви нас!“ а до взгі́р'їв: „На нас упаді́ть!“

    Also the high places of [d]Aven, the sin of Israel,
    Shall be destroyed.
    The thorn and thistle shall grow on their altars;
    They shall say to the mountains, “Cover us!”
    And to the hills, “Fall on us!”

    Від днів Ґів'ї́ грішив ти, Ізраїлю! Там вони полишились були́, — чи ж їх не дося́гне в Ґів'ї́ війна проти синів беззако́нних?

    “O Israel, you have sinned from the days of Gibeah;
    There they stood.
    The battle in Gibeah against the children of [e]iniquity
    Did not [f]overtake them.

    За жада́нням Своїм покараю Я їх, і зберуться наро́ди на них, і пока́рані будуть вони за подві́йні провини свої.

    When it is My desire, I will chasten them.
    Peoples shall be gathered against them
    When I bind them [g]for their two transgressions.

    А Єфрем — це привче́на телиця, що звикла вона молоти́ти, Сам ярмо́ накладу́ на її товсту шию, запряжу́ Я Єфрема, Юда буде орати, Яків буде собі скороди́ти.

    Ephraim is a trained heifer
    That loves to thresh grain;
    But I harnessed her fair neck,
    I will make Ephraim [h]pull a plow.
    Judah shall plow;
    Jacob shall break his clods.”

    Сійте собі на справедливість, за ми́лістю жніть, орі́те собі перелі́г, бо час наверну́тись до Господа, ще поки Він при́йде і правду лине́ вам доще́м.

    Sow for yourselves righteousness;
    Reap in mercy;
    Break up your fallow ground,
    For it is time to seek the Lord,
    Till He comes and rains righteousness on you.

    Ви беззако́ння ора́ли, — пожа́ли ви кривду, плід брехні спожива́ли, бо наді́явся ти на дорогу свою́, на многість лица́рства свого́.

    You have plowed wickedness;
    You have reaped iniquity.
    You have eaten the fruit of lies,
    Because you trusted in your own way,
    In the multitude of your mighty men.
  • 14
    І станеться шум по наро́дах твоїх, і всі твердині твої поруйно́вані бу́дуть, як Шалма́н зруйнував Вет-Арбе́л в час війни, — була мати з синами убита.

    Therefore tumult shall arise among your people,
    And all your fortresses shall be plundered
    As Shalman plundered Beth Arbel in the day of battle —
    A mother dashed in pieces upon her children.

    Отак вам учинить Бет-Ел за зло вашого зла, — конче згине Ізраїлів цар на світа́нку!
  • 15
    Thus it shall be done to you, O Bethel,
    Because of your great wickedness.
    At dawn the king of Israel
    Shall be cut off utterly.
