Коли Я лікую Ізраїля, то виявляю гріх Єфремів та зло Самарі́ї, бо роблять вони неправдиве, і зло́дій прихо́дить, грабує на вулиці ба́нда.
Ephraim's Iniquity
When I would have healed Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim was discovered, and the wickedness of Samaria: for they commit falsehood; and the thief cometh in, and the troop of robbers spoileth without.

І не ду́мають в серці своє́му, що Я пам'ятаю про все їхнє зло. тепер їхні вчинки ось їх оточи́ли і перед обличчям Моїм постава́ли.
And they consider not in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness: now their own doings have beset them about; they are before my face.
Вони злістю своєю втішають царя, а своїми обма́нами — зве́рхників.
They make the king glad with their wickedness, and the princes with their lies.
Усі вони чинять пере́люб, мов піч, яку пе́кар розпа́лює, що напа́лювати перестає́, як тісто замісить та вкисне воно.
They are all adulterers, as an oven heated by the baker, who ceaseth from raising after he hath kneaded the dough, until it be leavened.
У святко́вий день нашого царя похворі́ли князі́ від жа́ру вина, і він простяг до насмі́шників руку свою.
In the day of our king the princes have made him sick with bottles of wine; he stretched out his hand with scorners.
Бо їхнє ну́тро, як піч, у них пала́є їхнє серце: всю ніч спить їхній гнів, а на ра́нок горить, як палю́чий огонь.
For they have made ready their heart like an oven, whiles they lie in wait: their baker sleepeth all the night; in the morning it burneth as a flaming fire.
Вони́ всі гаря́чі, як піч, і су́ддів своїх пожира́ють. Усі царі їхні попа́дали, між ними ніко́го нема, хто б кли́кав до Мене.
They are all hot as an oven, and have devoured their judges; all their kings are fallen: there is none among them that calleth unto me.
Змішався Єфрем із наро́дами, Єфрем став млинце́м, що печеться непереве́рнений.
Ephraim, he hath mixed himself among the people; Ephraim is a cake not turned.
Його силу чужі пожирають, та про те він не знає, вже й воло́сся посивіло в нього, а того́ він не знає.
Strangers have devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not: yea, gray hairs are here and there upon him, yet he knoweth not.
І гордість Ізраїля свідчить на нього, і до Господа, Бога свого вони не верта́ються, і не шукають Його у всім цім.
And the pride of Israel testifieth to his face: and they do not return to the LORD their God, nor seek him for all this.
А Єфрем став, як голуб, — нерозумний, немудрий: закликають в Єгипет, а йдуть в Асирію.
Ephraim also is like a silly dove without heart: they call to Egypt, they go to Assyria.
Як пі́дуть вони, розтягну́ Свою сітку над ними, — стягну їх додолу, мов птаство небесне, — за злобою їхньою Я їх караю.
When they shall go, I will spread my net upon them; I will bring them down as the fowls of the heaven; I will chastise them, as their congregation hath heard.
Горе їм, бо від Мене вони відійшли́, погу́ба на них, бо повстали вони проти Мене! Хоч Я викупив їх, та вони проти Мене говорять неправду.
Woe unto them! for they have fled from me: destruction unto them! because they have transgressed against me: though I have redeemed them, yet they have spoken lies against me.
І вони в своїм серці не кличуть до Мене, як виють на ло́жах своїх, точать сварку за хліб та вино, і відступають від Мене.
And they have not cried unto me with their heart, when they howled upon their beds: they assemble themselves for corn and wine, and they rebel against me.
А Я їх картав, їхні раме́на зміцняв, а вони зло на Мене заду́мують.
Though I have bound and strengthened their arms, yet do they imagine mischief against me.
Вони наверта́ються, та не до Всевишнього, стали, немов той обма́нливий лук. Упадуть від меча їхні князі́ за гордість свого язика́, — це їхня нару́га в єгипетськім кра́ї!
They return, but not to the most High: they are like a deceitful bow: their princes shall fall by the sword for the rage of their tongue: this shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.
